OMG. I screamed, winced, and cheered when your leg touched the ground! I'm a long distance runner and I'm going for a consultation to get a labral repair surgery and I am SO scared, but your video gives me hope! Congratulations on your recovery, and continued success!

The struggle is real but the recover is worth it! It’s really hard and discouraging in the middle of it all, but 3 years later I ran 4 miles in the sand on the beach yesterday. With no pain during or after! I pray you have peace and strength on your journey! ❤️

OK how are you now? I didn't get hip surgery yet. I have a torn labrum and they won't let me get surgery they want PT.

Thanks for sharing, Cindy. I had labrum tear / microfracture / impingement surgery 6 weeks ago and I'm still in so much pain. doesn't really hurt to walk but it just hurts constantly 24/7... like a toothache pain constantly in the backside of my hip area. intense dull pain. Did you have any pain during your recovery, and if so how long did it take to go away? Did you do a lot of bicycling during your PT every day?

It was painful, but much less painful than before surgery. Like you described, an intense ache. I did quite a bit of cycling because that’s all I could do for a while, but I don’t think I started that part of PT till after 6 weeks. I couldn’t put any weight on it for the first 6 weeks, I didn’t walk without crutches till then. It was most painful when I overdid it in PT. I’m sorry to hear you’re aching 24/7. It is a really humbling and difficult recovery. But it does get better ❤️. Have you been able to stretch your piraformus? That was really tight and troublesome for me causing pain in my upper glutes. My PT would have to stretch it and work on it manually because I didn’t have enough mobility to do it myself.

@@CindyHeigl Thank you for the quick reply? It's crazy that there is so many different beliefs with different surgeons. Mine told me to start PT a week after surgery and to try to start walking 4 weeks out! I don't feel like I should be though. How long did it take you to not be in pain all the time? How are you doing now?

@@mickeyjames7806 Yes, there are a lot of different protocols. I did prehab for 16 weeks before surgery too, I think that helped a lot. It’s been over 5 years for both hips, I have hip pain maybe 2 times a month now if I walk too much, walking makes me more sore than running ironically. I was probably 80% better after 9 months. I am now 95% better and that’s as close to normal as I expect to ever get, which I am thrilled with :)
