The following is just my opinion.
I am originally from Long Island NY and I have been a NY Yankee fan my entire life.
I think Codi Belinger was a great addition to the Yankees. But I think the Yankees must do much better. I thought the Yankees missed out on a great opportunity to get Kyle Tucker. I was shaking my head - NO!
Anyway the Yankees must put together a team that will not just get to the World Series but WIN IT! In 2024 the Yankees were crushed by the Dodgers. Yanks were humiliated.
I remember the days when the Yankees had the will to win! I remember “Mr October” (Reggie Jackson) back in the 1977 & 1978 World Series. I remember the days of Yankee short stop, Derek Jeter. THE YANKEES HAD THE WILL TO WIN!
But in the 2024 World Series Aaron Judge was terrible (offensively) and Soto was not much better. The Yankees did manager to win one game where they scored 10 runs. But basically the Yankees were soundly defeated by the Dodgers.
The 2024 World Series was plain as day folks. THE NEW YORK YANKEES DID NOT HAVE THE WILL TO WIN!
Plus I thought for sure they were going to replace Aaron Boone (Yankee Manager) with a better manager. But it looks like Boone will be the Yankee manager for the 2025 season.
Well, we will see what happens in 2025. Who knows?

Yanks are better off trying to solve issues through the trade market than getting mired in expensive long-term contracts for 30-somethings. If they get backed into bad contracts, that's a bad sign for the team going forward. But if they are going to go that direction; might as well go big. I'm out on Santander completely. I don't want to pay for Walker's 34-36 season. That leaves Bregman at 3b, moving Jazz to 2b, and Alonso at 1b, moving Bellinger to OF. Crushes your payroll for the next 8 years, and basically no draft next year, but that's a hell of a lineup for the next couple playoff runs. In a vacuum I don't want Alonso at all. But if the other two acquisitions are Bellinger and Bregman, that minimizes the impact of Alonso's strikeouts. Makes it more acceptable

@@TurboFist0 Here’s the thing, they said the same about the Yankees starting rotation last year. They even said it about the Phillies. On paper everything looks great, but what happens on the field is all that matters. I guess in time we’ll see how it all plays out. 😉

I feel Juan Soto would have had a greater opportunity as a Yankee. Why? When you become a Yankee, and you are a player that delivers when it matters, you become a Legend. Yea ok he wants to build a dynasty with The Mets, but… you cannot do that alone. And…you have to REALLY PERFORM in order to be remembered as a Met, but LEGENDS never die. They are always remembered. That is exactly what Soto threw away. A powerful lefty with a short porch? His stats would be off the roof with the Yankees.
Yea he had a great agent but agents are like real estate brokers, they will do anything for their client to get the best deal for their client but really for themselves. Its sales. As an ex business broker I have sold crappy businesses dressing it up to buyers so that the seller is happy but most importantly, I GET MY CHECK!
Derek Jeter is a legend and many others who understood why they became a Yankee and the importance of being a Yankee.
