Aye not even that… he was comeback player of the year in 2023 while hitting .307. Then last year he was VERY solid last year at .266 while playing good D
This was a salary dump by the Cubs. They didn't want him to opt in and when he did it was made clear that they would try and trade him. Cubs now have money freed up for deals later on
Literally a couple days ago in my MLB the show 24 franchise mode with my yanks, I traded for bellinger and that season he won MVP and we won the World Series. Just barely.
He will do very well in Yankee Stadium with the short rightfield porch. He doesn't have to alter his swing either as he is a natural pull hitter and hits to right center as well. And he will get plenty of protection hitting behind Judge. Great acquisition by the Yankees
I’ve been saying for years that Bellinger would fit perfectly at Yankee Stadium. His pulling power is amazing and he’s an elite outfielder. Granted, he’s no Juan Soto by any means but putting him to bat in front of Judge and Stanton is definitely a huge boost to the lineup.
He's not better than Soto offensively, that is 100% accurate, but Bellinger is much better defensively, better baserunner and can play 2 positions while still providing good/great defense.
@@jackkerfoot8693 Maybe I’m confused but Bellinger hit WAY better than Verdugo and other left fielders we’ve had in recent years such as Hicks and Gallo
Bellinger is an improvement over Verdugo. He’s best at defense and any hitting you get is a bonus. It gets Judge out of CF so that helps. He just doesn’t help the lineup that much when you just lost Soto. There’s no replacing that production in the 2 spot.
I am a Dodger fan. Smart move by Yankees defensively. Bellinger to centerfield where as Dodger fans we saw him cover a ton of territory and help lower pitchers' eras. Aaron Judge can go back to his natural right field now that Soto is gone.
@@nogodsnomasters666 Freeing up $ is one thing, but I'd be amazed if there weren't better offers out there, even if they had to pay a little more $. I'd pay an extra couple million to essentially buy a better prospect.
The question wouldn't be why are the Cubs trading Bellinger if he's still an impact player the question would be why are the Cubs settling for so little in return? But then there is such a thing as a salary dump
Belli can be hot and cold. His bad seasons have been BAD though. and his postseason batting has been atrocious. If the Yankees can keep him healthy and happy he will be a threat.
Are there more moves to come Heyman? I would love it.. but Belli is 23M.. the Yanks would have to dump Marcus salary to get ANY decent 1st or 3rd base player. Yanks are only 7M away from Cohen tax... they still have arbitration and trade deadline to consider.
These are professional athletes playing at the highest level of their sport making millions. I don’t really think either of them care. Only people like you do
Hes going to have a whole new drive to him you watch hes 29 in his prime just got signed to the greatest baseball franchise ever. Im all in in cody bellinger 2019 is just the start. This his year.
Let’s hope Cody thrives in the Bronx so that we can forget Soto. The Yankees can now spend money on getting quality players (hopefully). The more I hear of what Soto demanded and got from the Mets, the more unbelievably it is. Private jet travel to and from games for his entire family, 24 hour security for family, clothing allowance for his mother, private suite at Yankee Stadium for the entire family, and more. The Yankees response when he asked for a private suite to be included: “you’re getting all this money and you can’t pay for your own suite”. I guess that was a straw that broke the cameras back.
losing juan soto got them a potential ace in max fried,an all star closer devin williams & now cody bellinger ..... & with the money that should be given to soto, they still can use it to improve their team (more) ... 😂🤣😂🤣-🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
Yankees improved their pitching and defense instead. Their defense was not adequate last year and cost them two games in the World Series. Losing Soto still hurts their lineup tremendously though. Bellinger is a number 5 hitter at best.
@jasonleetaiwan Once they pick up another bat, which they will, they'll be a better team than last year & losing Soto will all be forgotten. Alonso, Walker, Arenado, Bregman... any 1 of them & the 2025 yarnks are much better than 2024. That's what letting him go gets ya!!
I just don’t understand why Herman sounds like he is struggling on his last vocal cord and drowning in the ability to just complete a statement.. content is great but what’s going on? Can we just get this guy some oxygen or something?
Everyone talking about short porch this, short porch that. That’s not his swing and pulling the ball IS NOT that easy as you think. And his swing is all out like Bryce Harper. Health is huge for that swing to work and he hasn’t been.
As a Dodgers fan, I’m telling Yankees fans if he comes close to his MVP years with the Dodgers, this is a steal deal for the Yankees.
Dodger fan = 🌈🌈😂😂🤡🤡
Help me understand how he fell off so hard as a Dodger? One of the craziest drop offs I can remember no?
@HarrisonHollers Injuries, hamstring and calf injuries in 21, fractured leg in 22.
@@HarrisonHollersIt started with an injury. Shoulder separation or something like that if I remember right.

Imagine being Cody bellinger. Playing for the La dodgers, Chicago cubs, now the NEW YORK YANKEES. he’s touched all the mecas of baseball
And still not even 30! 😂
I hope he has a great year.
You couldn’t even throw in a bag of chips. It’s basically like they just got Cody Bellinger for free.
How is paying someone over $20 mil free!
Eating up his salary was the bag of chips
This was a salary dump by the Cubs. They didn't want him to opt in and when he did it was made clear that they would try and trade him. Cubs now have money freed up for deals later on
Bellinger will like that short porch.
Did everyone forget Bellinger had cracked ribs in 2024 when he ran into the ivy.. thats why. The numbers were down
Welcome to the Yankees Belli! You'll look great in pinstripes.. Go Yankees!
Bellinger Welcome to Yankees!
These analyses-"mercurial." You might mention that he cracked 2 ribs vs the center field wall and also had a fractured finger last year.
Bellinger thrives in big market I hope he does again in New York

Once the Cubs got Tucker, Bellinger was going to be traded eventually.

Compare Bellinger to LF for Yankees last year who barely hit above Mendoza line.

I don’t see bellinger as a center fielder given the fact that Dominguez s issues in left . Jason in cf is probably better for the team

Seems like a very low return for Belly. Good pick up for the Yankees if that was all it took.
It was all about freeing up money for future deals. Cubs spelled that out months ago.

Chicago cubs should not have had to pay to give a playoff type player away with high home run and hit total when healthy for a full year
Cashman cooking lately
Cooking? Yeah ok. Bellinger is no upgrade.
Defensively yes
Flexibility at 1B and OF

Max Fried… Cody Bellinger all they need now is Christian Walker at 1st

*Bellinger* debuted a year earlier than *Ohtani,* yet the difference in their WAR is 19.3. He’s the definition of a *one-hit wonder.😅*

Yankees need to sign Pete Alonso 1B to lengthen their lineup
He is rancid.
No they should sign Christian Walker

Won’t be easy for Cody if he doesn’t do well in the Bronx. He’s a defensive improvement anywhere he plays though.
