Good find! In Canada, the length for washer stand-pipe usaully has to be between 24 to 36 inches from the trap. Also there's a few different types rubber drain seal plugs that can go on the end of the pipe before you put the drain hoses in that seals around them to help slow evaporation and stop smells, as many washers are notorious for siphoning the traps.
Good video. I suspect something like this is happening at my house, although I'm not sure how to fix it. When we take a shower on the 2nd floor, the first floor kitchen starts to smell. I'll run water in the sink and it will go away, so I'm sure I'm getting a siphon somewhere. Hopefully a vent isn't clogged or anything.

The washer trap is crown vented. I see it a lot on washer boxes in the wall too.
