That's why so many Post Office's have been closed due to corruption.
I am constantly told by the Afrikaners that we need to focus on the positives.... So let's try focus on that.... At least the ANC elite are getting paid their millions on time.... they are also spared from the blackouts as the areas where they live are excluded and the power is never switched off in their areas.... Another positive is that they are not affected by the high rates of crime as each ANC minister, deputy minister, MEC etc. and their family members are allocated 34 highly trained police officers EACH to ensure that they are safe.... Another positive is that they are not affected by the high cost of living as you and I (the taxpayers), pay for everything and these idiots get everything for free....
Those are the ONLY positives...so I guess I will follow the Afrikaner's advice, and focus on that...
Please asks the banking institutions to refrain from instituting high banking charges.. Could be the reason why most Pensioners are reluctant to switch over.

Exactly my thoughts. How much will the 'friendly helping Banks" take from the most vulnerable in society? Secondly, folks go first to SASSA to change from Post Office to Banks? Good luck....do not forget to take a small tent...and a sleeping bag. You will be there for some time.....

I understand why people want to keep their SASSA cards. When their meager grants are paid into the bank accounts, banks take off their share. Banks are making a HUGE profit off our money. These poor pensioners and other grant receivers have to make every cent count. Banks charge when the money goes into your account and when it leaves and they make up 'other' fees just because they can.
It's plain and simple greed. They have no conscience , no soul. Evil .
If people get a pensioners bank account, there won't be massive Bank charges... Unfortunately I cannot mention a preferred Bank...

Every cent deducted from your SASSA payment can not be afforded. If people get thousands of rands it might be worthwhile drawing from an ATM but not if you have to pay the bank costs if you draw at an OTM from the banks

Thanks for taking the time to meet with SASSA. The problem with SASSA is that they don't pay pensioners on the 1st of the month. Look like payment were on the 5th this month. It's shameful the way we seniors are treated in South Africa.
So true ...this only happening since contract was taken over by Sassa from Social Services. Their own Employees were stealing from Pensioners with deductions like airtime etc...some into hundreds of Rands and when u go into their Head Office and query it they tell you it's someone in the family who had access to your card which is not possible. They are a bunch of rogues!!! There is still no change. There are Pensioners who also pay rent and their Landlords want their Rent by the first😏. To wait for that measely amount till 5th or even third is unacceptable. Not even Domestic Workers get paid so little. This Government thinks NOTHING about Senior Citizens who also built this Economy. I mean look at the increases??? Few years ago a R20??? Even when u receive an Increase per annum you don't really benefit because throughout the year the cost of living increases.

If you use a bank account then you have to pay bank fees and that is a lot off money.
I have a Capitec account and don't think the fees are more than R10.
Time bank is also not more than R10 bank fees
There should be no fees deducted for sassa grants by the banks. It’s a form of legalised corruption charging fees from the pensioners by way of bank or admin charges. The government should ban this from happening. Every cent counts for the poor and pensioners. Even ten rand is too much.

Can U imagine the interest the ANC government receives by not paying the pensioners on the Ist of every month. When U are working for an individual out of decency if the payday falls on a weekend he should make arrangements to pay U before the weekend. I mean this is only ethical. No... so SASSA only pays U at most 5days into the next month. If U if U are lucky. Totally despeakeable...The interest on that monies just sitting there is enormous, which the government gets. Just think about... It's enormous. In the old days only, and only the disabled and old aged where give a pension. And not all the Riffraff that gets pension nowadays. No wonder the pensions are in state of collapse...

My pension hasnt even been paid onto my card for September my balance is zero so even if the system is working there is nothing for me to cash.Will land up having to go to the SASSA office to try get my pension costing lots of petrol and will probably take the whole day of standing in queues.Really us elderly are being tortured over this pension thing and still havnt recovered from the days spent trying to get my expured card renewed.I think the post office wants us to die earlier so that they can work even less

Niel, thank you for your Great advise, but I would like you to please check out the following: Why Applications cannot be done on line? Why applicant's have to que and many even sleep over night on the side walk to ensure they get in that day. Why applicant's have to return up to three four times before they eventually get the final approval. Bellville and Elsie's river officers are very, very congested with applicants. We live in Brackenfell but were told we had to go to Elsies River office several extra km' s from the Bellville. PLEASE LOOK into these aspects

I know someone who received the R350 grant in aid.but that stopped in July. She is unemployed and has been for the past 3 yrs. According to the Sassa website she is employed but that is untrue. She does have an FNB Account but still no payment.

Ja ek het al by die bank gestaan want ek is n pensionaris. Dan het ek n paar gesien wat meer as een kaart van Sassa het en dan begin trek , uit elke kaart. Dan is hul nie eers oud nie😢

They know they can't scan you via the bank cos one can see on the bank statement how money was deducted. I believe we don't pay for bank statements.

Indeed there is a serious breakdown in comms because even in the banks some people didn't receive also why did they wait to have a cyber attack....without having a contingency plan in place for such instances......it is unacceptable for real.

How do we get our banking details changed. I currently get paid via gold card but want payment direct into my bank account . Taken necessary docs to sassa but told it is the wrong day. 😢
I remember when I use to receive the R350 grant, the post office operators would want people to bribe them to release the money they are suppose to get.

WHY CANT WE CONTINUE USING SHOPRITE, PICK N PAY N PAY, CHECKERS...NO FEES DEDUCTED.

Another problem is that certain peeps know how to manipulate and are being paid up to R30,000/month. SA MUST bring in a fingerprint system and you can only draw once AND when the cANCer is out there will be money available to pay a minimum payment of R4000 and for those who can confirm they paid taxes for 40 years + should be paid and extra R1000 this will make sure future generations pay taxes and not just stand with their hands open.

Not only Sassa is not looking after the pensioners, other countrys don't care either...
Postoffice is my biggest problem. My 'prove of life document' to IE by registered mail is after 3 month still not delivered to IE after 3 month, and my pension was stopped because of our postoffice sitting on their asses. But Internet is also a problem. I had Sassa and Nedbankcards 3 x rejected, because of weak internet but the last time it accepted the card.

Still do NOT now what is going on as many still have not received their SASSA for pensionerd and others. Myself included and its the 11th of the month. This is shocking when they say thet fixed it yet they have not.

I want to know when I made an application at Sassa I am required to tell them what I spent the funds on in my bank account withdrawals. Do they have a right to do this? I feel it's invasion of my privacy. Please if anyone knows the reason I would like to know, do they have a right to demand that information. TWICE I COMPLETED FORMS FOR BANKING ACCOUNT. SASSA CAN NOT READ THE FORMS AND LEAVE ME. ACCOUNTS MUST BE PAID BY FIRST OF MONTH. PEPSTORES PENALISE LATE PAYMENTS BY R50 AN ACCOUNT.
That great advise. But right now it's not possible for me to get to a SASSA office to add my Bank. So what is to be done now, this month, I have to live.

The lines at SASSA are horrendous. Here one is talking about disabled and elderly pensioners and manyndo not habe transport to get there and the stand in a queue not knowing for how long. Even some who have bank accounts did not receive their pension.

We hope an additional R100 that was promised to old age pensioners will be automatically added to them without any negotiations. This came from the Minister of finance when he anounced a 2023/24 budget.
There should be a sassa bonus every December, pensioners deserve it for all this nonsense they don't need. Gov can afford it.

This is true, our elderly people need a programme of positive mindset to avoid such problems by getting their moneys through the bank.

lots of people who are earning an extra income above Sassa who do not want to go over to a bank account,, because when u apply for SASSA u must give 3 months' bank statements then they will see you earn an extra income ,
You can also give a bank confirmation letter with the document.

Ok that was an explanation given about the Post Office as middleman for grant payments to Postbank cardholders. NOW the question is, why can't one withdraw from any bank ATM's? At Checkers / Shoprite one needs your ID proof and cell no that their paypoint requires, to pay out on one's Sassa Gold card. SPAR no go!! How does Sassa communicate this major problem to citizens? This seems not being communicated on any media platform to grant receivers. Sassa says everything should be resolved by Friday, 8 Sep 2023! Does it include cash withdrawals from Banks ATM's? Tell us please Sir😢
If you get your SASSA Grant paid into your Bank account you can withdraw the money on the 'pay date' at an ATM

Hi, I am sorry that I don't agree with you. A few years ago just after we joined SASSA. My husbands card was cloned in the SASSA office and at midnight they withdrew his whole pension. We had to report it but to date nothing has happened. A few months ago my pension was not paid and when I went to SASSA. They told me I am a lost file project. All my info was erased from the system and I had to reapply. There is a lot of skuldageries going on in the SASSA offices. Just talk to the people
I believe you. They have been scamming people for all these years even that Minister whom they fired.
You can still reclaim that money .... don't leave it like that because they will continue stealing from unemployed people while they earn a Salary. How greedy can one get??? 😡 This never happened during Apartheid and we could survive on that money because everything was affordable.

Its even more sad on our pensioners in rural arears. Was in the bank on last week , so many pensioners were in tge bank and most of tgem were sent back to home affairs for their fingerprints. Who want to visit home affairs in Eastern Cape, Matatiele .. others even said they rather starve because they don't have money to always come to town for home affairs, Sassa and banks...
