He formed a band at high school first , then at university he co-founded the original PITTA band with his friends which was where he gained years of frontman and guitar experience, entering competitions etc.. The basso profundo, Ko Woorim, is a fully trained opera singer with 2 music degrees in voice….bachelor and masters degrees. Just like their leader Cho MinGyu who is also fully trained opera singer with 4 years experience at the Seoul Metropolitan Opera and who was Woorim’s senior at Seoul National University by 6 years. Woorim actually completed his 3rd and final year of his Bachelor degree by the end of 2017 in the allotted time which was just after they won the Phantom Sjnger 2 series in November 2017. Since then he has been working on expanding his vocal range to better express his own musical tastes as well as what he does with Forestella. Even though he loves classical singing, the opera world is a little restricted. Woorim had been preparing for opera singing since middle school and he’d spent many years on that path until his first overseas participation at the Toulouse International Singing Competition in France in 2016 where he reached the semi-finals! It was there that he realised he needed to become more agile vocally…hence the audition for Phantom Singer 2 in early 2017. And the rest is history.
