Happy Friday!!! What Pseudo Legendary is your favorite? Mine is probably Tyranitar but...it's a tough competition lol
Metagross and Goodra
Metagross
Dragapult
Hydreigon
Salamence is my very favorite Pokémon💙❤️
Tyranitar may not have TECHNICALLY been created as a Pokémon, but it showed up alongside two Pokémon trainers, and three designs that look suspiciously like future Pokémon. I think it being created as Pokémon without GameFreak's permission is more likely.
It was still made by gamefreak tough?
@@phantommontalbanoinc.447 Those images were made by Ken Sugimori, and GameFreak didn't have the rights to them when they were first shown. They technically weren't Pokémon and they technically weren't made by GameFreak, but Ken Sugimori had every reason to want them in a Pokémon game.
@@immortallegacy100because they belonged to ken right?
@@sonic23233 Yes, Ken Sugimori drew them while a part of GameFreak, but not explicitly FOR GameFreak. Seeing how all of these designs founds their way into Pokémon in one form or another however, I'd bet he had Pokémon in mind while creating them and sharing them in a magazine.
Non-pokemon monsters are just a great premise in pokemon, imo
Fun fact about Gen 1 sprites- the sprites in Red/Green came BEFORE the official art! Ken Sugumori drew the designs based upon the sprites, not the other way around. The sprites were made by multiple artists! After they decided to remake the games to optimize them better prior to a worldwide release, the team remade the front sprites to better match Sugimori’s artwork.
7:54 the demo of Goomy and Noibat's BST is the same, displayed as 300 for both when Noibat's BST is 245.
Looks like he used Goomy's stat chart twice
Yeah, looks like the editor accidentally copied Goomy's base stat total for both pokemon.
@@Apemon7 all the stats are the same as well, it's not just the BST
I’ll never understand Zweilous and Hydreigon evolving so late, even by Unova’s high evolution level standards. Deino evolves at level 50, which means you can have a fully evolved Salamence, Metagross, Garchomp, Goodra, and Kommo-o before or at the same level you can evolve Deino into Zweilous, and the rest either fully evolve 4 or 5 levels after that (Dragonite, Tyranitar, and Baxcalibur). Only Dragapult comes close, evolving into Drakloak at 50 and Dragapult at 60, but is more justified since you can actually evolve it into Dragapult before fighting Leon who’s in the mid 60s
There is one way but only in Black 2 and White 2’s challenge run
Shout-outs to X and Y for letting you catch a fully evolved Hydreigon in Victory Road and completely bypass that bs
@@viewer6152 FYI, you're kind of coming off as an ass. I'm 25 and I like Gen 5. I've never owned a tablet and they didn't even exist when I was a child. And there's nothing wrong with using a tablet, either. Nor is there anything wrong with talking about a game you like on the internet.
@@monopolyrubix1875as if the game wasn't already easy enough
@viewer6152 Gen. 5 is still great though. One of; if not, the best gen of the franchise.
1:30 The catch rate change isn't meaningless because traded pokemon using the time machine in gen 2 had held items based on their catch rate.
While true, Dragonite traded from Yellow get an Antidote instead of a Bitter Berry. Even the handful of people who know that aren't gonna actively seek it out because it's way too much effort for the reward. So for those who are actually playing the game instead of just being a smartass in the youtube comments, it is 100% meaningless. :)
Fun fact about the “Tyranitar and it’s family have a weird insect thing going on.” It’s beta name was “Godzillant” combining Godzilla and Ant.
IIRC "Godzillant" was also the name of a very silly Alpha/Pitch Pokemon for Gen 1. Perhaps the idea was kicking around for longer than we thought...
I wanna see more undead prehistoric Pokémon, like imagine an undead mosasaurus Pokémon or undead Pokémon version of Cambrian animals
Bet the reason why Dragonite has a lower speed than Garchomp because in Gen 1, Speed determined how high the Pokemon's Move will crit. Basically old design forever haunts the nite.
Jangmo-o was all over the Sun & Moon demo, so I guess it got spotlight in there. I probably would've made it a rare encounter in Ten Carat Hill for consistency in the full game though.
I feel like there is a difference between speed and battle speed. The speed stat isn’t always for their max speed but the speed in a battle
Honestly I think you could make an entire episode just off of this. There’s a lot going on with Speed as a stat and what it refers to, with other languages even calling it Velocity iirc
or pokedex entries don't make sense and shouldn't be taken as canon
Thank you. Ppl just like to rag on 'dex entries for stating speed that isnt matched in Speed stat.
Yeah don't take DeX entries 100% serious, or else pokemon like Magcargo would be dangerous just by existing
this is also discussed in battleboarding that the Pokedex should be taken as canon but battle strength is not travel speed and anyone arguing otherwise is nuts
Isn't Metagross also the only one not based off an organic creature (mythological or otherwise)?
He's based on a spider.
@@TheTakato122
A "spider" that's completely covered in steel as a result of being man-made (and also being based on supercomputers), is not something organic
Also, Metagross has no gender
@MorganKing95 Metagross is also the only pseudo-legendary Pokemon that is said to be a fusion of multiple of it's previous stages, even if you don't actually need to catch multiple of them to obtain it
I think it’s the only one to not have any reptilian traits but being based off of something more mechanical
Frigibax, Arctibax and Baxcalibur are direct references to Minizilla, Godzilla 98 and classic Godzilla respectively. Tyranitar is also directly based on a specific Ultraman kaiju.
He kinda a mix of big g and bemular but bemular is def the main inspiration
I guess Colosseum doesn't count as the wild because you're snagging in trainer battles. Also in Colosseum, Tyranitar is actually the one with the lowest catch rate, not Metagross
Man, I hope they give Jangmo-o rhe Gible and Bagon treatment someday and make it available early on in the game, I've wanted one of those on my main team for ages.
hopefully not, it was a good surprise that u had to fight the Pseudo Legend as a Totem, with boosted stats, super effective reducing berry, and moves like Poison Jab or Flash Cannon
@@theamazingspooderman2697 I mean, it's rather unlikely we're going to have Totem Pokemon again until we eventually get the Alola remakes. But I still don't see what that has to do with getting them earlier in a regional dex.
@@technology5979 just for a surprise factor nothing else
I mean in scarlet and violet u could catch them early in certain locations since the game is an open world that's what I did
Isle of Armor has early Jangmo-o. Even in Teal Mask you can get Jangmo-o pretty early.
That reaction to Metagross creeping in to Tyranitar’s section was just hilarious😂
Despite Cynthia whopping my butt in Pokemon Platinum with her Garchomp, I grew to like it alot and after obtaining one for myself it became my favorite pseudo legendary.
Red/Green Gen 1 sprites aren't design oddities or mistakes. Those are the original designs. Almost all gen 1 pokemon had their sprites made before Sugimori's artwork. The sprites aren't a poor representation of the artwork. Rather, the artwork is an evolution/revision of the original designs.
So, Metagross is the only pseudo that has no relation to dragons at all (Tyranitar can learn Dragon Dance)
Seems like that's the case
Ngl, JPR vids make Friday feel so much smoother. I gotta love Tyranitar, Ash should have gone back for Larvitar!
Larvitar was always meant to stay at Mt. Silver.
@@wikiuser92 Ik, but I meant in the future, when Larvitar was a bit more grown up.
Ghetsis isn't the only hacker , Iris also have an under leveled Hydreigon
Fun fact: Baxcalibur is an ice type godzilla introduced a year before godzilla Minus One, a movie which while not actually named in reference to temperature can be interpreted as “minus one degree.” Baxcalibur isnʻt just Kaiju inspired, it just literally is Godzilla. Even Frigibax is literally just pokemon baby godzilla. Glaive Rush is even a reference to how Godzilla flies.
There was an animated movie that featured "Ice Godzilla". I didn't see the movie, but I did see clips of it on RUclips.
Goodra is also the only pseudo-legendary to have a regional variant. I guess they chose Goodra, since it's the only mono-typed pseudo-legendary.
Would have been dope to see some other regional variants like Garchomp, Hydreigon, Kommo-o and Dragonite
This might be common knowledge, but dragapult takes inspiration in the bomber B2 Spirit (A stealth or "invisible" bomber), which might also explain the ghost type.
7:58 frigibax has higher bst than goomy sitting at 320 while goomy has only 300
Thank you so much for all videos you made. You are one of my absolutely best youtubers ever. :)
Jsi borec. Mám moc rád tvoji tvorbu.
My top 5
1. Dragupult
2. Kommo o
3. Metagross
4. Tyranitar
5. Hisuian Goodra
Least favorite is salamence but I really like roaring moon.
same opinion, Salamence looks like a generic dragon
2:21 best argument about Lance.
New subscriber here, just got through the ez base campaign of violet rocking a full dragon squad in an open world Pokémon game. Life is good
Of course, the most important fact about Dragonite is it's the only psuedo-legendary without any signature moves, abilities or related gimmicks (Mega, Z-Move, Paradox, Regional Form, etc). Come on Gamefreak, give the first boi *something*
It frankly doesn't need anything, it's still good despite that.
@@enoyna1001 "needing" something doesn't really matter. None of them "needed" anything. Being good or bad isn't how Gamefreak operates. It's the fact that it's the *only* one without *anything* now. At least give it a signature move or something.
@@enoyna1001 it got a big boost from Normal Tera Extreme Speed, saying it doesn't need anything is a lie
@@theamazingspooderman2697 We were talking about gimmicks here. Everyone can Tera, and I'm aware of Dragonite's boost due to that. That's why I said it doesn't need anything additional.
Other fact about Metagross is that metagross is the only genderless Pseudo legendary
*me not noticing the pseudo in suudowoodo the last 25 years*
“They had us in the first half not gonna lie”
One interesting and kinda sad thing about Tyranitar is that it's the only Psuedo who isn't featured in a major story battle near the end of the main story in it's home region.
Dragonite is used by Lance, Salamence is used by Drake, Metagross is with Steven, Cynthia has Garchomp, Hydreigon is used by Ghetsis and Iris, Goodra is used by Diantha, Kommo-o is the final trial in Alola, Dragapult is used by Leon and Baxcalibur is used by Hassel
That dark grayish garchomp actually looks cool tho
agree, it that how it looks in SV?
Your videoes are always my friday night highlight before bed, thank you.
3:18 You most certainly are not dumb! I've been playing Pokémon since I came out of the womb and I ranitar is one of my favorites and I have never noticed that
I think salamence is not tiny, it's just flat. The pokedex probably measured its height from the highest point of its cranium to ground level instead of from the tip of its snout to its tail tip. Dragapult's height data is probably its length
Anyone else notice he compared Goomys stats with Goomy
mega salamence was just so perfect
Fun fact, Dragonite is the only pre Gen 8 pseudo-legendary that has never received any sort of regional gimmick or alternate form. Tyranitar has a Mega Evolution and Paradox Form, Salamence also has a Mega Evolution and Paradox Form, Metagross has a Mega Evolution, Hydreigon has a Paradox Form, Goodra has a regional form, and Kommo-o has an exclusive Z-Move.
Remember, guys, GF had the chance to give us Tank Hydreigon as its Paradox form, but they did not do that. They also did not make Goodra the 1st Poison type Pseudo-Legendary dragon of the games that gave us the Fairy type.
Keep it up on your work and this video and channel
I ❤️ this video and channel
Thanks you for your video and channel
I ❤️ Pokemon all franchise
How they decide the sizes are weird, like dragapult is only that big if the are measuring from the end of the tail to the head, which is really his length and not height, it just happens to float so I want to know the length of the others like dragonite and salamance
3:22 I can definitely say I never actually noticed that either 😂
Mega Tyranitar technically doesnt sprout wings like a butterfly, its back forcefully split open becuase of the energy released during Mega Evolution
This is not true, i looked closely both their backs, the spikes actually just grew and the blue parts of tyranitar became red
@@clairegregg3317 USUM's dex entry said that
7:23 Ash Ketchum is a hacker confirmed
screw the rules, he has money!
Interesting how you say nobody can ride on salamence when we've seen people do that in the anime, namely J
I officially like baxcalibur more now
wouldnt dragonite need a catch rate if it were a ditto you were fighting with a dragonite?
Shiny Beldum unlocks dialog with Mr. Stone, Roxanne, and a Fossil Maniac on Route 114 too. I literally refused to play ORAS again until I could track another one down.
No, I had no idea about Pupitar either 😅
0:49 Scoliosis is if the spine bends sideways, if its bending out backwards that's kyphosis
Additional facts:
Dragonite: In Gen I, this was the only fully evolved Dragon-type, and is the only Pokemon in the original 151 to have a 4x weakness to Ice.
Tyranitar: This is the only pseudo-legendary to have its secondary type change between evolutions, as Larvitar and Pupitar are both Rock/Ground, but Tyranitar is Rock/Dark.
Salamence: Funnily enough, Salamence's dex entries state that it only grew wings because it really wanted them.
Metagross: In Gen III, Metagross actually had a signature move, Meteor Mash and a signature ability, Clear Body. (Yes, Clefairy did get it too, but its not in Hoenn's regional dex) This makes it the first pseudo-legendary to have a signature move and ability.
Garchomp: Mega Garchomp holds the record for the highest base Attack stat, at 170.
Hydreigon: Hydreigon is actually the only pseudo legendary with two immunities: Dragon/Dark is immune to Psychic, and it has Levitate, giving it Ground immunity.
Goodra: Currently, Goodra is the only pseudo legendary with a regional variant, and is the only pseudo legendary to have a weather-based ability in Hydration.
Kommo-o: Kommo-o actually has three different move immunities: Soundproof, Bulletproof, and Overcoat.
Dragapult: Dragapult is the first pseudo legendary since Metagross to have a signature move: Dragon Darts.
Baxcalibur: Baxcalibur is not only the first pseudo legendary since Metagross to have both a signature move: Glaive Rush, and a signature ability: Thermal Exchange, but it is also the strongest non-legendary Ice-type. It is also the only Dragon-type pseudo legendary to not be weak to Ice.
Up yours man! I will fly on a salamence one day :(
I noticed the Pupitar stuff back in Gen 3 (when I began playing thr games) 😅. That said, I would love if a past Paradox Tyranitar were part bug.
Did you know that Toho also created a monster based off of Yamata no Orochi in fact they created it before pokemon existed, The name being king Ghidora the three headed monster. his first appearance was in Ghidora The Three Headed Monster in the year 1964 and we all know that Hydreigon evolves at level 64 just like how Baxcalibur evolves at level 54 so they are both easter eggs to both of Toho's most iconic monsters.
Awesome video
Tyranitar is my favorite pseudo-legendary
3:23 I've never noticed that either
ok good it's not just me LOL
4:10 why u gotta shatter my dreams like dat 🥺
Baxcalibur's signature move Glaive rush. its animation is reminiscent of the old GODZILLA movie where GODZILLA slid on his tail and drop-kicked his opponent.
I really wish we’d get a Psuedo that isn’t a Dragon for once. Tyranitar and Metagross are so cool.
I've never thought of speed as movement speed, but as attack speed. EG a sprinter can move faster than a boxer, but can't punch faster
Dont worry I also didnt notice that about Tyranitar till now
Husain Goodra is actually more viable then Kalosian Goodra due to it’s typing also you can get Gible pretty early on in Scarlet and Violet somewhere near the town with the bug type gym as I did just that because I wanted to use it again especially since it was introduced in the Sinnoh games which were my first Pokémon games and it’s a favorite of mine as well. Not to mention no notable character including Hassel uses Garchomp on their team at any point in those games. So in both games Garchomp was one of my main team members.
Salamance is actually pretty huge, 4'6 is pretty big for such a bulky quadrupedal animal like salamance
Dragonite learns extreme speed making him technically faster than garchomp
Funny story about the severely under leveled Salamence, I caught a shiny, full odds Bagon just before getting the Salamence! That was back in 2018, and I’m still very proud of my curious nature rewarding me twice 😊
The Tyranitar line having references to bugs is based on Kaiju stuff. Many Kaiju in movies from Godzilla to Gamera had transformations like this.
yeah 'pseudo-legendary' is also not an official term either, just widely accepted by the fanbase haha. Personally I always attributed the term to mons like Snorlax and Volcarona, who have overworld sprite-based interaction encounters-- ...yknow, like. Legendary Pokemon. Frankly I'm not sure who came up with 'pseudo-legend' or why it stuck, but it is what it is, eh.
and yeah no sorry bro I always realized that Tyranitar's belly was pupitar's shell, even as a kid ;x
5:56 That only calculates to Dragonite flying at Mach 2 if the Pokémon world is the same size as Earth.
My head-canon for Hydreigon is that it’s evolution level being 64 is a reference to the Nintendo 64 being Nintendo’s third dedicated home console. And of course, Hydreigon has three heads.
Am I misunderstanding when you said Goodra was the only pseudo with no immunities, because neither does Kommo-o. I don't think Baxxy does either
07:35 Kommo-O doesn't have any immunity
I never noticed Pupitar shell on Tyranitar either
Dragonite is also the only Psudo legendary that can learn extreme Speed as in the original gen 2 games a special dratini in the dragons den was obtainable that had extreme speed in its moveset, then with modern Pokemon games it now learns extreme speed via lvl up/ move relearner. Thus it can be explained that Dragonite is technically naturally slower than Garchomp, however it has the power to significantly increase its speed whenbit wants to or needs to and thus being able to fly at insanely fast speeds that seem unbelievable for a heavy set dragon
this video has made me realize just how much of a nerd I truly am. At 5:23, that's NOT shiny Garchomp, it's actually regular Garchomp (which anyone can fact check with if they want to). I'm almost upset at myself for being able to tell just from seeing it, but also strangely proud of myself? Probably the saddest achievement of my life nonetheless lol
Dragonite probably using extreem speed to get to the pokedex speed
Is baxcaliber immune to a type? if not him and goodra are the only suedo legends that arent immune to a type
You can pull level 1 fully evolved pokemon from pokemon go so that rarity is basically gone
3:52 i'm glad to be taller than Salamence :D
That game criticism 14 tyranitar book can go for $120 for a worn out condition, and a graded one is listed on ebay for $90k
Goodra has Sap Sipper as an immunity
I never noticed that about Tyranitar’s stomach.
7:42 not technically true as Goodra has Sap Sipper as a possible ability giving it potential immunity to grass types
Grass types are not that common competitively, with the amount of weaknesses they have
It's also incorrect since Kommo-o has no type immunities.
@@TrenoNeoKnight while it doesn't have immunity to an actual type it does have 2 separate immunities through it's abilities to I guess the "secondary types" being either ball/bomb moves or sound moves, and Baxcalbur is immune to being burned (probably the weakest reasoning)
My guess for Dragonite vs Garchomp is an Imperialdramon effect. Imperialdramon's transport form is faster when traveling but fighter form is more agile for battle. I imagine Dragonite can travel faster but Garchomp's sleek form makes them more agile in battle.
Fav dragonite
2:53 You mentioned Hitmontop but NOT Tirtouga?? Smh my head
3:36 Anger. Just, anger.
Lol I swear I remember when I first found out you could catch bagon so early in the game moon I made it my mission to catch one 😂😂😂 aye I miss those days
1:58 Nice
You made a mistake on the base stat chart for noibat and goomy
5:42 and yet, Gengar kepps getting shafted.
the baxcalibur line is partly based on the spinosaurus
5:52 I dont really think the "Speed" stat is really about speed and is just a unfortunate translation.
For example in the German Games the stat is called "initiative".
It describes more the reaction than the real speed.
So it tells you how fast a Pokemon reacts to something, not a measurent for speed.
I think that makes more sense.
So Pokemon can be faster but slower to react to stuff.
I'm gonna need the anime to show off a battle between Tyranitar or Baxcalibur against Shiny Iron Thorns, it'll be Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla
Didn't pokemon Hunter J ride on Salamence back how tall was she then
How about they’re all somewhat inconvenient to use in their home region games
I’ll never forgive them making Hydreigon’s evo level 10 levels above Ghetsis highest level Pokémon (which is ironically a Hydreigon 🙄) and also locking Deino to Victory Road in BW1 and Zweilous to Victory Road in BW2, making them basically unusable in Unova. Unless you really like gen 5 grinding and making the last battles of the game easy as hell
Dragonair and sligoo are found mid game in their respective regions. Never played SM or SwSh tho.
It is annoying tho. The worst was gen 2 tyranitar at Mt. Silver.
@@Jlaps941 I’m planning on making a video about it needless to say they are all various degrees of annoying to use in their intro regions aside from one (Garchomp in Platinum) aside from that the best you got is mid game catches with only using final evo in the final battles to literally unusable
Fun fact Hydreigon is only the second worst you can’t use Beldum in a Hoenn game except for the shiny event which you aren’t doing now
Hydreigon can only be realistically used in a Black 2 And White 2 challenge mode team even then you will likely be stuck with Zweilous
@@jazzercise300 Dratini and Goomy are on the better side but still a bit of a pain since their first forms aren’t that good and they only become good in their final form which comes late
Sun and Moon is probably just below your 2 since Jangmo o is found a bit later but evolves early ish
Sword and Shield’s is a pain Dreepy sucks to use is only found in raids or late and evolves late
Metagross is worse than Tyranitar since you can’t get one until postgame
@@androidoficeandfire9667 Goodra doesn’t seem too bad in Kalos or Hisui either, except maybe having to hunt down a rainy route in Kalos which I remember taking forever, or normal Goodra just not being very good compared to other pseudos
im still waiting the day gamefreak will do a remake some pokemons types . and among them will be tyranitar . he deserve a Dragon/Steel Type starting from ground to rock/ground and then dragon/steel type . would be badass
And once again I tell you that the speed stat refers to reaction speed. Initiative in RPG Terms. Because that's also how it's called in the German Translation which usually orients itself on the actual Japanese Names
Wait how are beldum and metang tied for hardest catch in the series with the tapus, but metagross isn't. Is metagross easier to catch than them for some reason?
Dragonite can learn extreme speed
Great video, although I believed Lucario was a "pseudo" legendary, alongside Arcanine and a couple others. I guess you gotta be allergic to pop rocks in order to be considered a legend in Pokémon standards.
