the reason why the watercolor dried so splochy on the last skin layer is bc you put it over colored pencils, idk if you used prisma colors (wax based) or polichromos (oil based and oil goes on top of water, not the other way) but the watercolor couldnt stick to a surface as smooth as colored pencils. Hope that explains it a bit...
The paper you use must be really tough!

A very lovely piece~ it's very nice seeing some looser watercolor paintings. I think it's fun to have an idea in mind but also letting certain things be a bit more experimental. Even if it's a bit hard lol.

Chris Hong, you should try making a portrait with a pen and color pencils. A mixed media with a pen and colored pencils would be really nice.
Been going through a huge art procrastination process during quarantine . Early on was perfect and then I just hit a slow plateau of effort . This constant roller coaster of lazing around and trying just doesn’t give me the constant growth I used to get. But everyone I see your videos I just get sparked with so much E X C I T E M E N T to draw ! The style, the dreamy watercolors , everything in these videos just mean so much to me . Thank youuuuu!
Yess!!! I loveee watercolor and colored pencil comboss!! You are so talented at both separately, and seeing how you work with them together is so lovely! I've always admired how much work you put into preparing to do the actual drawing but I LOVE that you are just diving in and reacting as it goes in this one! It gives it a really free feeling! It can be scary when you go in too much with watercolor but don't underestimate your colored pencil skills! Thank you for sharing your process but I also think its so important to just make art not on camera too. I feel like I have to record everything now for content, I really should be taking time to just create without thinking about recording and just get absorbed in the process again. Lovely art as usual

Oh my gosh I really felt for you..I am so pleased you managed to correct it..I have done that before and know how heartbreaking it is when you have spent so much time on a piece then ..Oh No!.. I find the pencils save me so many times..Not that I paint as often as you ,but I sat on a painting for months hating it..Now it’s framed and my Daughter is the owner and she really loves it..So thank you Polychromos 🥰

Does this peice have a name and print? She is my absolute favorite peice from you 💜. It is very rare artists portray black/(poc) girls as their main subject and even rarer that they are painted sweetly and innocent instead over sexualized. This melts my heart and builds my confidence, thank you

wow that is amazing how you save it! I watercolor too, and it's so easy to mess up, so you are not naive. I would love to see how you fixed it with the colored pencils. And which brand colored pencils, watercolor, and paper did you use on this piece? (Edit, i found where you list your materials)
