Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another?
2 And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die.
Where did Jacob saw the corn. He must have seen and heard it from someone living in Canaan and wanted some.
Why was Joseph brothers so edgy when Jacob spoke to them about Egypt. They looked at each other as if there past had come upon them to hunt them for they knew they had set up Joseph thinking in their minds he will fail but God never fails for the difficulties in life trained Joseph to become a strong leader. God preserved him to serve and led him to the highest level. As a teenager Joseph learned and experienced hardship being sold as a slave in Egypt. [Joseph was 17 years Gen 37:2 when he last told his father about what his brothers were up to. Then we see in Gen 41:46 he was a man at 30 years, when he stands before the Pharaoh. 30-17=13 years later.
They lied and sold Joseph.
Genesis 37:27-28

28 Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.
They knew what they had done to their brother but none of them would give away their dark secret.
Jacob sent his 10 sons to buy corn in Egypt for the famine was in the land of Canaan. but Jacob kept Benjamin, which was Joseph's younger brother of his favourite wife Rachel’s son, and the youngest out of his children. Jacob kept Benjamin very close to him at home, Safeguarding anything happening to Benjamin, For his brother Joseph went missing which made an empty space in Jacobs life. A loving parent become distress when their children are missing and so Jacob do not want the same problem recurring with Benjamin. What Jacob did not realise 13 years later, God appointed his son Joseph as governor over Egypt. Praise God! Amen
8 And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him.
God shows you what others cannot see which can be a life changer for the worst or the better. Pray in your spirit in that very moment.
9 And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto them, Ye are spies; to see the nakedness of the land ye are come.
The 2 dreams the brothers hated and hurt Joseph by driving him away and not wanting Joseph around them, God sent a crisis of famine and place Joseph in rulership position so there will be no get away clause but that the dream is to be fulfilled. Joseph carried them through a character test.

19 If ye be true men, let one of your brethren be bound in the house of your prison: go ye, carry corn for the famine of your houses:
20 But bring your youngest brother unto me; so shall your words be verified, and ye shall not die. And they did so. Benjamin’s presence would be the verification password/proof. After hearing they will need to bring Benjamin, The brothers spoke in the Hebrew language thinking Joseph did not understand the language but he knew every word.

Joseph brothers experienced deep anguish not sure what would happen to them knowing they had spent 3 days in prison, a brother left in prison, they took Egypt’s corns without paying for them and the problems they faced was not resolved.

Let us end with the Lord’s prayer in Matthew 6:9-13: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
