    OMG! Finally a review I can believe on this knife. Respect for not lying or misrepresenting this knife like so many others did. It wasn't just their opinions it was shilling and misleading people. Upset me to no end. Thanks again man! Wish there were more like you.

    You just moved to the top of my favorite list. I got so tired of people double talking this knife. Back peddling previous things they had said about similar knives. Thanks for staying honest. It is noticed and appreciated.

    Completely honest review. Respect ✊. I’m also a huge fan of the AD20, but the flex in the 20.5 really bothered me so I sold it. Wasn’t thrilled with the plastic backspacer or the small hardware either. I’d be interested in a premium materials version though, even better if made in PA like its big brother.

    I am glad to hear your real opinion. I bet it would be amazing with some Rafir Noble scales. Especially if contoured or even G10. I hope to get one or both blade shapes eventually. I think it is great he decided to get a version that is relatively affordable which min of 400 wasn't. Thanks for showing it disassembled. Like the look really want to try it.

    “Value” varies from person to person. I love my 20.5’s more than any knife I’ve ever owned. I’m admittedly completely obsessed with it. I’ve actually got both blade shapes. When they introduce different steels and scale materials I’ll own those as well.

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  3 года назад +1

      That's awesome and I can completely understand, I personally want some of the next ones that come out in better materials, I obviously have this one and the big dog, but it's hard to see the value when I take it apart, the lock is an amazing lock that's easy to make, I think it's very innovative, I just don't see the $, which is fine I don't regret buying it and it's not for sale, I do love the knife and I respect the locks strength

  • @H0rnetz

    I like the knife, but I agree with your criticisms. I hope that someone makes some aftermarket scales in G-10, Micarta, or titanium to make the knife more ridged.

    Great review...really appreciate your honest approach to reviewing knives. I was looking at getting in on the first run of these, but after I saw the steel and frn handles, I backed off. You really can't compare the 20.5 to the 20...it looks like the build quality between the 2 are on different spectrums. Other than the lock, it doesn't seem like a Demko knife. Hopefully, he upgrades the future versions.

  • @ml2054
    @ml2054 3 года назад +1

    The price is just a no go for me. For less money I can get a twosun with m390 and titanium. I like the lock but I ain’t paying $150 for a lock lol great review as always though man!

  • @jn651
    @jn651 3 года назад +1

    Yeah, nice review! Really good point about blade width/handle width ratio; pushed to the furthest extreme, it'd be like holding the blade and cutting with the handle lol. I too was thinking the handle ought to take a little of the overall width back from the greedy blade stock. A knife with a handle that narrow sucks to use hard, I guess you said that but it bears repeating. Also the cheesy plastic; the price isn't quite justified by anything but the lock. Which is f'n near indomitable. Thanks for not breaking out the pompoms and Demko sweater for this one. I was just telling someone I respect honest disagreement when some others are starstruck. Can't move forward if we all think the same. Props!
    [Edit: that handle issue is why I returned my CS Air-Lites; hands no likey]

    My only issue with the 20.5 is the terribly loose spring detent. When you can easily shake out the blade that is a design flaw for me.

    Thanks for the video. I really like the design, but will wait to buy one when it comes out with upgraded materials or a semi-custom directly from Demko. I do not necessarily mind overpriced knives as I have purchased more than my fair share, but they were all high quality with excellent materials. An overpriced knife with "subpar" materials is not my cut of tea.

  • @tima7662
    @tima7662 3 года назад

    It's a great knife and I know Demko did not have the backing of Cold Steel on this one, hence the bigger price. G10 or Micarta would have been better, I agree. I'm good with the knife steel. You hit it on the head with the thick grind on the 20.5. I can only see Demko knives getting better from here!

  • @PatheticPeasant

    I just picked one of these up (exact same knife) and it has lock stick so bad that i almost can't release the blade in the open position. After i get it i can flick it 5 times and then it sticks again. So disappointing that i have to take it apart and figure out what the heck is wrong with it.

    I hate mine and probably gonna return it. The jimping on the shark lock is incredibly painful. I can’t believe they would let knives leave the production line with that sharp jimping. I knew after 10 times closing it, that I hated it for that one reason.

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  2 года назад

      Yeah, I'd like to try the d2 version and see if it's any better, especially the heat treatment because out of 5 aus10 versions all had heat treatments that weren't great, one was OK but not good,

  • @toddcarr.
    @toddcarr. 3 года назад +1

    Wish they skipped the FRN and just made it a steel handle Hate holding a knife in a firm grip and feel the scales bend inward makes it feel cheap. On the other hand made in Taiwan and not China and it's the first production with new lock so cost is going to be higher and I'll be picking one up when they become available for sure. keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable

    Hey Jared @Neeves Knives what are your thoughts of the new 20.5 knifecenter with K110(D2?) steel at the same price as the Aus10a, is it a better value/would you recommend it for a $150 over Benchmade/hogue axis/able lock knives at the same price? The Aus10a was holding me back but if this is this is an analog of D2 That would help me over the fence lol, thank ya Sir

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  2 года назад +2

      I haven't tried there d2 I was very disappointed in the Aus 10 heat treatment I'm hoping they did a better job with the d2, but as a functioning tool I'd go with Hogue probably, the 20.5 is a decent edc but the geometry is very thick.

      @@NeevesKnives thank ya Sir, I was looking at the Ritter RSK full size until the D2 20.5 came up to be honest the thick geometry doesn't bother me as I was going to use it at work(Metal panel fabrication) but Thank you for the advise I'll take ya up on the Ritter and see what Demko does in the future, maybe someday afford the MG20 😆

  • @derrikjasper1283

    Hey Jared curious on your recommended angle and grit finish for the sharkfoot blade in aus10a ? Never used aus10a before but am just trying to figure out how I should sharpen my ad20.5 upon arrival . I mainly do draw cuts opening boxes and cutting the flaps off of boxes. Any input would be appreciated thanks . I typically use mostly s35vn at 17 degrees with roughly 600 grit finish

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  2 года назад +1

      So usually I would say on this particular model 17° at 600 grit but mine had a bad heat treatment or was seriously burnt from factory and required 5 or so Sharpenings before getting into decent steel, mine was from the first batch that might of been rushed to blade show. So I'm not implying that yours is also this way. Mine would not take a good edge and went dull immediately. Everything was bad. Now it's kind of into ok steel but still not good but I had to go with a coarser edge
