What a splendid 20th Century Russian Symphony : a dynamic and propulsive first movement is followed by the Andante (7:16 - 16:34) which borders on the tragic but which also features a powerfully melodic big central tune; and a third movement which has a playful urgency as well as a heroic conclusion. Absolutely brilliant stuff in a stunning performance.
Kabalevsky était un très grand compositeur et il est vraiment dommage qu'on ne fasse référence la plupart du temps qu'à ses pièces pour pianistes débutants. Ses concerti, notamment le 3ème pour piano et ceux pour violoncelle et violon, sont de véritables chefs-d'oeuvre et ses autres pièces sont extrêmement intéressantes. Il faut REHABILITER Kabalevsky !!! Merci à Rodders pour la qualité de ses choix.
