All I have to say is, after reading the comments, it's so nice to see Chinese Democracy getting the recognition it deserves. I loved the album, but most discussions of it are full of the normal cliches "It's not GnR without [insert favorite ex-member here]."
@@bardonmusic Its such a great song, I cant believe it has not been released yet. IMO its the best post CD left over song that slash and duff have redone.
I love this song. Axl's vocals are impressive. GnR have had sad songs in the past, but this one is really heart breaking. The more times I listen, the more I love this song. Bryan Mantia is the drummer in this song.
Slash and Izzy defined the sound of GNR. They were perfect. Slash is a blues player you don't need to be fast to sound awesome. The drummer is Frank Ferrer Puerto Rican just like me.
Knowing more about the album development era and the band that were responsible for the album tour, I don't blame the other guitarists for it's distinctions. Everything seems to point that Axl did want to do something different (a topic that goes deep and with sooo many ramifications), and I just praise them for being able to fulfill this requirement. The same way the original members got to their sound, different people with different approachs, knowledge and skills came and did their best to create something new while trying to keep ot good.
I think this is the msot comprehensive approach, otherwise we'll just end stuck on the discussion between classic members work vs new members technical elements and never reach a proper agreement.
My issue with this is… just sing it in baritone. I don’t like this falsetto I mean it’s okay and I appreciate it, but you can tell that chorus is re recorded but it needs SO much distortion. I’d rather he do more songs in a lower register, it’d actually make more thematic sense for the song
The major issue isn't even about the recording, but the implication that, with a less powerful voice and reduced drives, he needs to ultra intensifies the falsetto parts (specially the extreme part in the end) for live performances. And even though I have liked how he sounded (considering the proper expectations about his voice and the band vocal style), it also creates a miss tone between his voice and the instruments.
And I understand that you don't like this vocal style, maybe you,re even not a GNR fan, but I tend to have a more comprehensive approach to new songs, one of the first and main aspects I judge is how the different aspects of the music compares to prevuous works. That way I can distinct my opinion on opinion and analysis.
@luisrafaelferminmontilla7987 Guns N Roses without Slash is not Guns N Roses. Their success came when he was playing. Their only number 1 is down to his sweet child of mine riff.
It's good, not great. I'm so accustomed to the unique sound of Chinese Democracy that hearing a song from that era with Slash instead of Bucket and Finck sounds strange. I've read that 3 albums worth of material was recorded in the Chi Dem era. I'd like those songs to be released in their original form one day, with Bucket and Finck's solos.
same here....I just feel Slash and Duff are ruining these songs. Slash is crucial for old GNR but Finck and Bucket are crucial for the Chinese Democracy era.
@@jamesriver3745 no, Slash is fine. I actually like Slash for his style vs the industrial style of the other's. The only one I felt that played purely with emotion other than Slash, would be Ashba. All other's than Slash don't seem right. The reason is cause Slash would have been the one to play these songs, so I love hearing his take on them.
I like Slash but can't help but feel GNR has been moving backwards since Slash and Duff rejoined. I really dug the 2000- 2002 lineup, and I feel Finck Pitman and Buckethead were crucial to the sound they were going for. Slash is ruining the songs....they were better in their demo forms from the village discs
Axl and teambrasil screw up the inedit village sessions songs, Gnr was waaaaaaay better without slash, look Buckethead, Finck, Bumblefoot, even Ashba! the general is a25 years old song released as something new with slash on guitars, maybe the demo was better
I can see why you would say that GnR was better without Slash, specially when tall of the guitar players you mentioned are way better than him. The thing is that Slash was behind some of the most memorable guitar performances i history and that's hard to beat

This is easily the best song they've released since the reunion.
You need to do Monster
ill do!!!

thanks for sharing his name!!! and thanks for the comment as well
not a fan of The General. I liked Perhaps though.

a 100%, for as impressive Axl's vocal range is, he has a sweeter spot in the mid to lower register, thanks for your comment
@@bardonmusic and thanks for your reply man. Stay safe and keep up the top videos ✌️🤘

Without Slash there is no Guns N Roses. End of story!
but... there was, before he came in and after he left, and then again when he came back.

The only irreplaceable person there is Alx, let's be honest. The rest, well, it has already been proven so. The 2001 Rio rock show is beautiful.
No! the drummer is average Frank Ferrer. Can’t beat Brain Mantia from Chinese democracy era
this recording for the original version of The General was done by Brain. But yes Frank is now gnr's current drummer
wasn't aware of any of those details!!! thanks guys

it would be awesome to have access to those recordings one day

From what I understand;
Marc haggard does the guitar part at the end, brain does the drums
Nice to know, thanks for sharing!!!

I dont like it to be honest, it comes across as some half hearted b-side!
It is not my cup of tea either but It think it is a matter of opinion than a case of poor songwriting
I don't like the megaphone effect on the choruses. Also the bridge is lame. The song "Monsters" was pretty good though....the bridge was killer!!!
