Nice to see you again Phil. Maybe you can do some daily Vlogs? Also it would be nice if you can do a live stream.

Hey Phil, you're back. You know I've been all over SE Asia.
Da Nang isn't too interesting but it has an airport so we went there as an entry point into central Vietnam. The only two memorable things in my 24 hours there was a food tour which was good but not special and a trip to see that White Buddah on a hill outside of town. I'd say the White Buddah complex is the highlight of Da Nang. But I wouldn't stay there more than 24 hours. The dragon bridge lights up at night and is worth a photo or two.
Hired a driver to take us to Hoi An. He stopped at some overlook about 30 minutes outside of Da Nang. It was a decent photo op but nothing I'd recommend. The tour buses stop there like it's some big attraction. It's ok for 5 minutes but nothing more.
Hoi An, stayed at the River Suites which had amazing service & staff. The city is walkable so be sure to view it both daytime and nighttime. Took a cooking class that required a boat ride. That was pretty fun. And did the Jack Tran Adventure trip with those bucket boats. That was fun. Had lunch on that tour in some fishing village which was unique. Hoi An is picturesque. But 2 days there is plenty.
Hue was interesting. Expect to do a lot of walking. But what 95% of visitors miss is the true value of Hue. It isn't the old imperial sites, it's the emperors tombs outside of town 30-60 minutes. The best thing ever in Vietnam - better than Halong Bay - was hiring a driver for $110 to take 2 of us (total cost) from Hoi An to Hue. And we arranged to have him stop at 3 or 4 emperors tombs. Each tomb is a big complex and totally different than any other tomb. That was the highlight of central Vietnam and I couldn't believe all the tourists is Hue & Hoi An who just miss this opportunity because it's a bit of a drive out of town. But since you need to get from Hoi An to Hue anyway, just hire a driver.
Of course, you must see the old imperial city in Hue and the pagodas but those are easy to find information. But whatever you do, go see those emperor's tombs.
Nice to see you back on the road.
