We hope you enjoy this rebuild of an iconic Alden Indy Boot. We took the boot and rebuilt it with thick leather pieces, a pleated moc toe, and heavy duty soles.
Special thanks to Parkhurst for the last shape!

As a hobby bootmaker in Sweden, I just want to thank you guys for showing the ENTIRE process of how you make your own boots. It has helped me figure out how to handle many problems I've faced as a self learner.
Keep the videos and grand quality boots rolling (or should we say, stepping??? :D)!!!
You guys should def put this into production. Looks absolutely killer!
Absolutely, I’d buy, especially if they made larger sizes (I’m a 15 in most boots)
They won’t. Nicks doesn’t listen to there customers at all. This boot would do so well in the hipster community. Too bad nicks doesn’t care about what customers think.
Ageed
Fo sho!
@@louderthangodFo sho!!
The craftsmanship...just amazing. Now those boots are proper old school adventure boots that Indy can chase after treasure in.
If these became available I’d order them in a second. Amazing boots!
I dunno. It looks a little too much like a PNW logging boot now, even without lugs.
Nicks took them from the Board Room to Work Shop ready. A boot for the accountant learning to get their hands dirty. I love it.
those old aldens look well made....
Lmao basically admitting the newer ones suck hard? This is also nicks they had to remake it anyways? It was old and dead of any life, WAS good for nothing in its condition it was in
@@CocoKoi321you got something on your nose there
The boots of Theseus
Now they’re absolutely worth $600.
I think it would look better if they made the whole thing new. That’s my thought. Beautiful work as always.
They have undoubtedly improved technically and become much firmer, but to be honest, I liked the original leather more. I would never have replaced the front part of the shoe with new leather. But, as I said, top boots, ready for another twenty years.
I was gonna say, I like the improved strength, but I don't like the new look.
They also got rid of the heel which is supposedly a big reason for the comfort of the original. Should have kept the original heel shape and the original uppers. But great work nonetheless.
The original Indy reminds me more of the semi dress anyway, so this is very fitting
Did you guys perform any ritual beforehand to not incur the wrath of the gods before you proceeded to violate this sacred object?😜 Love the remake BTW.
They were in trash condition wtf you mean
I don’t like the fact the foodbed shape was changed from the original, that is a huge part in what makes the Alden Indy boot iconic. Otherwise it’s definitely upgraded.
He didn't have an Alden Last.
@@gk5891 It wouldn't have been to hard for them to get one.
Or the fact they added significant weight. No need for that many nails. Just making the boot way less comfortable
Nah. This actually looks better
@@jihigh482 nah. It’s overbuilt and less slim
Whether intentional or not, this video is a big slap in the face for Alden
And many other shoemakers
That’s an older model when they had the canvas lining.
I'm a huge fan of your boots even though I don't have a pair and can't afford a new pair at this time I recently went through a rough time in my life was homeless and addicted to drugs but I've found a way to change my lifestyle and have got into boots and bought a pair of redwings that I that I bought and consider my reward for changing my life around soon I will be sober for a year and wondered if it would be possible to have them converted into a pair of nicks heritage boots I like the Robert and think the uppers of my red wings would contrast well with the 1964 brown I don't know if any of this is possible but if you dream might as well dream big
Just a Harrison Ford yard boot hyped up by the movie.
Those belong in a museum!
Don't think Alden people would be too happy to see this😆
It's almost like watching a video where a cobbler takes a stitchdown shoe, and remakes it into a Goodyear welt.
Love watching these.
I feel like this is Weston’s pair…
Beautiful!
Funny thing about this. The script originally called for a pair of Red Wings. Probably Iron Rangers given when the movies are set (there are only 3). But Harrison asked if he could wear the boots he wore when he worked as a carpenter. The rest is history.
I wonder why they chose an Alden boot rather than something meant for hiking/adventuring like a Russell moccasin
Because it was what Indiana Jones wore.
Outstanding. Personally, I prefer the look of a single welt stitch for dressier style boots. That's the only reason I have not ordered a pair of Nick's.
This reminds me of the delta house remaking Kent Dorfman’s brothers Lincoln into the Death mobile. Yes, the final product had som limited appeal, but overall, it wasn’t an upgrade. “My advice to you, start drinking heavily”.
This is absolutely humiliating for Alden .
They are trash
So they i mean, the last is the best part of the alden indy. This is just a boot that kinda looks like the indy. PnW lasts are horrible. The no chamce the customer will be happy with the change, even though theyre rebuilt like a tank.
Alden got incredible arch support for a flat boot. How is it in the resole?
I just got my Roberts in W&C EB Burgundy, and for roughly the same price as a pair of Indy's, I think it's fair to say I got a better boot.
A wonderful job of making them to be a Nicks boot. Moc Toes have always been my favorite style. I am wondering if my almost 4 yrs old Danner Bull Run Moc Toes are worth making them into a Nicks boot...? Thanks again for decent content on remaking the old ones into new ones...
Nicks - Please offer your version of these boots. Offer these and I will order them immediately…
Surely there are no less than 100 nails on one boot alone😮
Nice job avoiding that musical copyright strike. Excellent choice.😂
Upgraded? It’s replaced. Just a couple scraps of upper from the old boot, worn by the new boot like a trophy.
i never knew that shoes has so many nail in it...
Sooo can i buy it? CAN I WIN IT? :)
He wore them because they where extremely comfortable because he wore them when he was a woodworker thats what i read .
I don't know one carpenter who could afford to wear Alden boots. Harrison Ford must have owned the construction company. No hourly wage carpenter would buy a shoe that costs double to triple what other work boots sell for.
@@chinatownboy7482We're talking 60's-70's here. Not whatever inflated price they are now.
@@Pantheragem Where Alden shoes less expensive, adjusted for inflation?
@chinatownboy7482 I know for a fact in 2000, a pair of 405's were $195. So take from that what you will. That's about $350 today at rate of inflation.
@@Pantheragemhmmm they didn't respond. Must've of put em in their place 😂
I knew this was the Parkhurst Last. Such a different shape than the HNW.
That’s a vintage pair of 405’s (or maybe those are 403’s) with the “duck” lining.
Love your videos, too., sir.
@@rickc4317 thanks dude.
@@EDHBlvd I'm in my 70's. I think I'm too old to be a dude. 😄
@@rickc4317 no one is ever too old to be a dude. 😆
I have a pair of Alden “Indy” boots. They’re not as good of quality as you would hope for, extremely comfortable but you will become a cobbler repairing them.
Why don't you send them back to the factory for a recraft?
Alden will rebuild them for you.
@@seppukusushi2848 Not worth the price Alden charges.
People overly romanticise this brand like they're fricken Macallan scotch or something
They're not.... and I love how nicks is sort of clowning on them
Macallan have become a joke as well
Perfect boot………
For an Insurance salesman.
Accountants wear them too.
Nothing wrong with a casual boot
Nope.
We all know that the craftsmanship is excellent All the material was excellent but you replaced everything except for one piece Why not just replace all of it,,, as usual great video
What a great upgrade! You guys are craftsmen!
No
I appreciate watching nice work like this, but if you're going to re-last on another last, what's the point? Some might think the shape hasn't changed much, but the only thing that makes these boots essential in my view is the specific treatment of the fore-foot of the True Balance last. These new ones will push the big toe in, and that's not acceptable to me if you're going to wear boots all day. I strongly suspect that's why Harrison Ford insisted on the Aldens in the first place. That's why I've worked in Modified Last shoes where I have to be on my feet for 8 hours. There's nothing else out there in a traditional shoe that comes close.
No they won’t . Have you ever wore a pair of Nicks boots ? They put Alden to shame in just about every way .
It doesn't sound like you know what I'm talking about. Alden's Modified Last and True Balance Last are specialty lasts - hard to find even in most stores that sell Aldens - that do a particular thing for people with particular requirements. I know what I need, and I can see in this video that the subtle change in the shape of these boots by being remade on a different last would make them unwearable for me. It has nothing to do with the otherwise magnificent quality of the work. I appreciate that Nicks are great for perhaps most people.
@@belabouredI totally agree. Also the Thomas hill is necessary for people will completely flat feet like me.
That was an older pair. Look at that original stitch density. What a shame to lose that on the finished boot. 😢
No
Lmao basically admitting the newer ones suck hard? This is also nicks they had to remake it anyways? It was old and dead of any life, WAS good for nothing in its condition it was in
A bit disappointed that you did not get rid of the bad fabric lining and the bottom of the upper around the heel was pretty worn. But as usual, stellar craftsmanship ‼
Whoa, that heel was made in China! And they want how much for those boots?😯
Doesn't Nicks source all their Vibram soles from the Massachusetts plant?
Well done Sir, I’d order those.
Could you really hike, or run in these? Seems more like a workboot. Also, why not just remake the entire boot?
Love it. Is that a model boot you guys have on stock, or is it a special order? I definitely love to have them
Looks like they took apart a pair of Alden Indy boots and upgraded them to Nick's level.
You'd have to start with a $700 Alden Indy boot and start from there. You'd be paying for a $700 boot twice. Better to just spec out a custom Nicks lace up with a moc toe.
@@AidanPed They didn't upgrade the style though. Now it looks like a less slim, clunky work boot.
As an owner of some Indy boots that may need some repair, I'm curious what something like this rebuild would cost the consumer?
Just make it from scratch already, it's a better boot and would be a best seller as a travel boot.
Beef'd up, ready to kick @ss and take names... NICEness!
Grazie dei scarponi
From 16:00 onwards, how those nails just disappear like that :D. It's like the hole sucks them in
Surprised for the time his boots didn't have hobnails of some variety
Just wish they did all the boot cause the new didn’t blend perfect, just saying ❤
Just wish they did all the boot cause the new didn’t blend perfect, just saying ❤
This is what Indian Jones should have worn during his adventures
Not really an upgrade...that's pretty much a new shoe...lol
These Nick Alden’s are beeeeeeeaaauutiful!!!!!!
14:20 .... the size of those boots in the background?!!
would have been funny if after you guys fully broke the boot down you just threw it in the trash and put down one of your boots.
These videos are always entertaining and somewhat educational.
Please put this in production
No wonder your sock liners quickly delaminate from every single pair of boots you ship. Gotta let the contact cement dry for twenty minutes or so before joining whatever it is you're gluing together.
Too bad you didn’t keep the Thomas Heel on these
This is how they should really be made
I’d like to order one for me. What do I need to do to order?
he pulled of the heel cap and it said "made in China"
Да... зажрались, всё у них не то)
Beautiful. I’d love them for fieldwork. How would they go on rough rocky country (10-12 hour days)? Also need a metal ring to clip gaiters onto.
Does it come in black?
I like how part of the old boot was reused because it show the patina and looks like a boot that’s been used . I’d take it over brand new any day . Nice upgrades all the way around when it comes to the lower .
Wow, I wish you guys built pickups, I'd own the same truck till heaven called my name. Entirely new scale of footwear.
Not really my type of boot either way (original or reinvented) but I enjoyed the craftmanship displayed. However just one point, would it not have been a good idea to have cut a channel for the sole stitching just to give it that extra bit of life?
シャフト部分も型を起して作り替えたほうが良かったと思います。
The nails you put into the soles of boots always look too long. It must be an opticle illusion. I'm glad to see you trim and bend down the ends of the nails before putting in the insoles.
Nah
I hope Alden watches this and takes a note from your playbook
Needs new uppers
But the movies wouldn’t have been half as long if Indy was in these boots!
Великолепная работа!!!
I'd buy it.
the angle of boot in the thumbnail really doesn't do the boot justice.
Great boots!! Is that leather stitching being spooled up?
You all should offer the brown cork V-Bar sole and heels.
You ol turly nick. You ol turly! Excellent boot then an uncle bub.
Want.
Amazing. I'd rock that pair anytime.
High heels
Need this. When are you launching one?
Yeah, Alden's make sence for carpentry and general use. But, for adventuring you need better grip and greater durability. Wish I could remember how many were bought for each movie due to abuse during production.
Carpentry as in working on furniture . I’d destroy them in a few weeks building structure . These Nicks recrafts would definitely hold up to abuse though .
Can we talk about how beautiful that knife was?
A mock toe Nick 🤔🤔🤔
I like it. Picasso
You never realize how many nails go in boots UNTIL you watch this...whew
You won't get 1 nail if you buy Timberlands and Dr. Martens.
I already own four of your boots but I’d drop money for these if you made your own
