This is a good man!
Thank you!
Amazing....
❤Thanks 🎉
Amazing concert. A few years ago I was so inspired by Jesse's playing that I transcribed all of his solos. I recently posted a transcription on Get Out Of Town with tablature and Jessie's fingering.
All amazing but wow that drummer is something else!!!!
"Get out of town" is a barn burner! 23:13 drummer flips the switch. 23:30 haha! swing it man!!!
Excellent! Also, that particular model of Gibson ES-150 is an unusual guitar, only made a few years, and not seen in jazz circles very often. However, it is an excellent jazz guitar and Jesse uses it masterfully.
Jesse Van Ruller is one that I have never heard of before. Thank you so much for posting this video. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I will definitely be looking for more of his material. Truly a fantastic guitarist!
Saw him live in Belgium/Ostend and talked to him after the gig. It was the best gig i have ever experienced in my lifetime! They are sound freaks ! It was so beautiful !
Well.. I can't stop listening to this magnificent guitarist. Talk about flying under the radar! There is nothing like making a discovery such as Jesse. Simply one of the finest guitarists I've ever heard. And I emphasize the word "finest". Bravo!
Listen to these, sublime:
- Have a heart
- Blame it on my youth
Circles..
❤️
Yes even the baseman are grateful. The baselines are unique.
Thank you all so much for your positive reactions. Through the years I filmed many concerts here in theatre De Krocht in Zandvoort. A couple of months ago I decided to put a series of full concerts on youtube, instead of fragments. You can also visit the website of JAZZ IN ZANDVOORT: www.jazzinzandvoort.nl . There you will find the history of artists that played there before and soon you will see the line-up for the new season. If you decide to visit The Netherlands one day, don't hesitate to drop by and visit one of the coming concerts this coming season. You won't regret it!

Thank you for all the effort & the consolidation. The link would be very handy!!
I really can’t understand some of the negative comments. Thanks for posting this - the sound is excellent, the camera work too. The guitarist is wonderful, and he is ably supported by the other band members. I love the full tone that the guitarist is getting out of that Es 350, and with such clean attack. Excellent!
well... it took me 15mn to find these very few comments... Who cares what these people think? Do you need them by your side? As a jazz musician, I don't... We enjoy...
It is an ES150D
He sounds excellent
@@55Deluxe right.;-)
Sure is fine Jazz, and nay sayers are in the wash as always, I think the guitar is an Es150 DCW by the way! (gotta be accurate these days eh? haha)
a guitarist at the highest level
What a sound!!! He's a very complete guitarist.
His chord voicings and sound is especially beautiful.
Great guitar playing! I had never heard of Jesse Van Ruller before today - glad I discovered this video "by accident".
How can anyone not love a beautiful jazz ballad like this. Wonderful. Jazz is alive and thriving and this is proof.
There is HOPE for this generation. Slow down and git der soul. This is amazing.
Great (unknown to me) musicians!!! I find the drummer absolutely great! Thanks for sharing, and congratulations on filming and sound quality.
Thank you for your compliments, it is my aim to bring this music into the world and share it with other musicians. In this manner it can be an inspiration for anyone who likes this type of music. Not everyone has a chance to see them live, and with my concert films, I can introduce unknown Dutch masters!
Master Jesse van Ruller.
Jesse's straight ahead stuff (although never straight)..is always superb.
Well said.
Oh man... he knows his way around that guitar! Beautiful to see and listen to. 🙏🏽
hollow body GIBSON THICKER THAN USUAL AMAZING SOUNDS
Es 150dc
Personally, I've never been crazy about the Gibson ES 150DC. They can be found on the used market for half the price of a similar vintage L5. But this video shows a maestro like Jesse will sound good regardless of the guitar. Brilliant musician...
Really great playing and what a great guitar sound
The essential beauty of jazz is here ! Thank you !
First time hearing this guy… eating up the fretboard! So fluid and melodic. What’s that Gibson he is playing, does anyone know?
So impressed by this guitarist.
I knew Netherland has plenty of great Jazz / Blues musicians (I've been loving Cuby + The Blizzards and Dutch Swing College Band since the late 70s). These guys are fantastic... thank's for posting this.
My favorite Zandvoort sound is "vroom-vroom" (Dutch Grand Prix 1967-70), but these guys sound mighty good too.
Jazz sintético moderm Ecleptic Very nice!!
This is so good, man, can anyone help me with the name of the first tune?
The song is called 'You're my everything'
so the best are often not the most famous but surely most deserving of such acclaim.. here is personification through a singular event that places this guitarist among my favorites at just one hearing.. my own playing is along these lines so perfect to hear how much better I can be.. all the musicians are excellent.. thanks for sharing this masterpiece set of jazz.. 🎸😎
I like this guitarist's style.
Good melodic content.
I wounder what historic influence or roll the legendary pianist Barry Harris played in the development
of these wonderful and outstanding musicians considering he spent much of his time in the Netherlands
as an world renowned educator? Barr Harris helped organize the jazz departments of all main conservatories in the Netherlands.
When you folks get a chance look him up on youtube giving classes in the Netherlands....
no wonder I love jesse’s playing.. his sound and attack are that of pat martino.. my old favorite guitarist.. 🎸
What a shame they didn't do more gigs. Fantastic display of musicianship.
Great band! And I love the drumming....
!!! Great innovative melodious beautiful &tc. A Old Jazz Fan in San Francisco sends Thank You, Dennis!
Thank you for sharing this great video! Fine playing for sure. I’ve been a fan of Gibson guitars for many years but never saw or heard of this model. Would love to try one out for myself. 🎸🎼💕
@Jackie Hart Thanks for that info!
Great. Anyone know what the name of the Gibson he's playing is?
Enjoyin' the jazzy, progressive vibe of this quartet (that only got together ONCE--what a shame!). Thanks for the GREAT moments of freewheelin' jazz (they could compete with Brubeck in my estimation!!)
As TheGaz1009 put it "Nice Mood" ..........Wonderful guitar sound! and I Dig that drummer.
Really loved Prelude to a Kiss. Since I try to play the straight version on the piano once and a while.
REALLY nice guitar playing. You have your own thing completely. I enjoyed this a lot.
super concert !!!! what deception for the piano sound ... :'( the pianist play great to but we can't hear :'(
I hate how mics pick up brush work. This guys touch is amazing. Wish it was more pronounced in the recording.
Thank you for the information Victor,
Could anybody upload the tune's names? :)

Thanks *muyi*
wow really good show! I love the guitar!
Very cool… thanks for post…. Some beautiful standards……excellent
it's like Cal Collins came back younger, better, and with even more tone. My God, this guitarist is great!
really good stuff , for an "auditoire" soupirant ...Can't get this out-ime where the Storm flashes my brain ...!!! Or am i too much latin ???;...thks for ...
Thank you for the fantastic performance.
Wonderful guitarist. Shame the sound doesn't let us hear the rest of the band in the same light though. If it had been recorded in 1917 there could be a feasible excuse for such a poor mix - but in 2017 there's none. A grand piano has a huge sound, as does an acoustic bass - but in this instance they're relegated to less than a supportive role to the guitar's wonderful expansive tone. It is indeed a shame.
you´re actually right. but this recording was made with just 2 shure sm57 mics, so the mixing opportunities with only 2 tracks are pretty limited, right?!
@@markuselipka That's a very good point. It seems that one mic was more or less solely for the guitar amp and the other out in the room somewhere - so mixing was never part of the equation in creating the recording. With only two mics involved, the 'mixing' needed to be thought of before the event and achieved through judicious mic placement - same concept as recording a full orchestra with two mics only. In fact, very many great ensemble recordings have been made with two mics only. This of course requires that the performers know how to 'balance' their sound internally, and that the recording engineer understands mic placement appropriate for the job.
Though, thanks for getting back to me.
Fantastic! Thanks for posting this.
quite good audio quality , good concert, thanks for uploading !
Wicked!!!!!
PS Thankyou. Brought tears of joy to my eyes
Terrific tone he gets from that guitar - whatever model it is. Unusual pick grip, too - a little like Metheny with a pinky down.
gibson ES350 perhaps? the guy is fantastic..
It is a Gibson ES-150 DC guitar www.vintageguitarandbass.com/gibson/ES150DC.php
Very very very beautiful i love
so beatiful
I don't think I'd be describing the double bass of Eric Timmermans as a bass guitar but an awesome concert,..Many thanks for taking the time to film and upload it Dennis!
thank you just find this today its wonderful !!!!
the film is exellent!
Magnificent tone, taste and control. I bow low.👍
Solid, clean shuffle.
I'm not sure but I think the opening credits say "Live in the crotch". Lol
wonderful sound...!!!!!!
great musicians !!!!!!
Wow... that guitar tone. Sounds like the cleanest water flow!
Delicioso concierto. Excelente sonido. Todos los componentes me gustan. Ya conocia a Jesse Van Ruller: muy interesante guitarrista. Gracias, Dennis.
This music is so erotic in an aesthtic dimension. Lovely played. Thanks for all these warm and sensitive sounds of all of you guys on stage!
Hadn't heard of Jesse Van Ruller before. He is great! Thanks for the video!
how did you end up watching this if you haven't heard of him? just curious.
@@nate42384 The wisdom (AI) of RUclips suggestions :) -- I watch a lot of jazz guitar videos and it came up as a suggestion.
just discovering the guy. das nog e beetje wa zulle !!!!!
Great guitar and band
great playing on rare Gibson 3/4 body 335 style
fantastic; great musicians. Btw each time I see it it hurts my eyes: "separate"not "seperate" which looks a bit like "desperate"
the sound of the drummer makes it like he is over playing but he is not. focus on the overall set. everyone is in the pocket and jvr is on point
morris bailey I still happen to disagree. Also i’ve listened a lot (again and again) to this clip because i think the guitarist is truly amazing. The recording balance leaves much to be desired, i’ll give you that. You have in Holland an very gifted drummer by the (last) name of Dykhuizen, forgot his first name. Now he is in my opinion tops! Check him out. But the one here is imo mediocre, to put it kindly. Nevertheless Cheers to you!
Nice mood
excellent guitariste
Thank you for this! Simply excellent!
ヴァンルーラがやはりJAZZギター🎸では最高だな!!🎵👍

Awesome....
aparte de tu buena tecnica y poco mas no hay

I have no idea, I'm not a guitar expert.
It's a Gibson ES 150 DC
Thanks for the video! Why a table in front of the musicians? Is there a jury?
No, the audience at the front row have the privilege to sit at a table.
What a privilege! 🤣 Thanks
Fantastic! 👏👏👏👏👏
