  • This was yet another short, but crazy fun overnight backpacking trip with Central Kentucky Backpackers Meetup. The total mileage was around 13 miles for the entire trip. This included 10 miles the first day, and around 3 the following Sunday.
We started out on the Bison way trail, then the Sheltowee trace, then the Lost branch trail to the Osbourne trail. From there, we took the unofficial trail to Eagles Point Buttress.
A couple words about our route: we did have to cross gladie creek. Lucky for us, it was only calf deep, and could be crossed with just taking off our boots. The Osbourne bend trail is a different story. It was a muddy, very deep dug out mess. I discovered during the trip, that this trail was also a horse trail. As such, it was very muddy, and had deep muddy patches at times. Just a word of caution.
As far as the unofficial trail to Eagles Point Buttress is concerned, the trail was very visible to the left along Osborne bend trail. If you do take this route, I recommend a good map, GPS, and general idea of where you are going. We had to backtrack a bit to find our trail.
The next day is fairly simple, following the river ( to your left) along the Douglass trail back to your car.
We were lucky with great weather, which helped make this an amazing trip. We camped close to where the waterfall starts on the ridge. It had ample space for 15 or so campers, and a water source. Although, I can imagine that stream dries up in warmer months.
    Happy trails.
