Why? Shes correct, its not a real job because hes not an employee. He is the owner. A real job is working for someone else, and collecting a paycheck. There is a big difference, relative to the discussion he was referencing.
@sean8204.5 so by your rationale every business owner is unemployed? You are the one arguing from the perspective of irrelevance. Your definition of a real job involves having a boss. Your rationale means every McDonald's worker flipping burgers has a real job but a CEO doesn't have a real job.
you were hearing but not listening lol. What she complains about is to do 2 jobs while being a mom to 3 children. Shes working full time at the school so they can get health insurance + tuition reductions worth like 60k while working more hours at their store as well. She doesnt complain about how much money he makes, she complains that the way they are earning their money forces her to be a teacher because of health insurance when she would want to do something else.
She wants to cheat, have an affair and this way she can get her husband busy enough to be out of the way to do that. Or she's listening to some jonesies and she's competing with another woman's husband who has a job.
I feel this guy's pain. My ex wife that didn't work and barely did anything around the house, at one point wanted me to get a normal job so she could get a normal job. Somehow, my 6 figure job that supported the whole family was keeping her from getting a job. If you noticed, she's my ex wife.
She didn't want you to be a high value male. As she gets older her value decreases and this made her feel insecure. This type of woman's value only decreases in the material world, but that's the world she lives in. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
True but they're turning a mil to make 50k, that's the reason for the stress right there. Decent if you just look at a net check but that's poor margin.

Well a townhouse kinda sucks. It’s not really yours. You share it with a neighbor. It’s no better than an apartment. Still, she’s unemployed and has no say.
Buying a new house which will be considered her owning as well when she breaks up with you even without her name on it. So many guys lost ancestral home to gf who went to court to claim the house being unemployed and living there. Guys are clueless with how the laws work with women's manipulation.

@kathypatterson6813, to be fair, we don't know how much she or he actually takes care of the kids. I would argue that her telling her husband he doesn't have a real job and that she already wants to retire is more evidence that she is lazy-minded than not. More than likely, her kids are adults or not very dependent on either one of them, based on their age and her desire to retire. It seems selfish to me, expecting one to provide college funds and not wanting to chip in. At the same time, I want to know what both of their workloads are, which perhaps would tell the complete story.

@@gahaha8565Tbh I expected her to be an asshole that just wanted the money. However I do believe people in the comments treat her unfairly. It's not necessarily about the money, more so the stress it puts on a family that already earns a lot and she also contributes quite well to that so there's no leeching involved. She's likely willing to even lose some money if it means more peace of mind. I completely understand wanting to shut down the store if it makes such little money in comparison to the rest. Being in charge of a store with 20 employees can be quite stressful even if they only have to work 1-2 days a week in there. In the 50's my Dad worked a modest job, Mom stayed at home and raised the kids, and they lived a nice middle class lifestyle including owning a home. I don't get the people that value a classic 9-5 job. If you find a way to make a lot more money in less time that's a huge win, not something to look down on.
The ONLY disadvantage is that you forgo your "safety." If you forgo your standard career path, then you don't have those "years of experience" and therefore becomes harder to get a job in your chosen career down the road. Other than that, I 100% agree, it's better to be self-employed and be able to do things for less hours. Time is invaluable.
@@eduardomartindelcampo4555 there is no safety. I see comments all the time people working decades at one job thinking its a career, something happens whether it's a injury or whatever then they get fired and someone else takes their place. Job safety is an elusion with most companies.

Investing without proper guidance can lead to mistakes and losses. I've learned this from my own experience. If you're new to investing or don't have much time, it's best to get advice from an expert.
Even with the right strategies and appropriate assets, investment returns can differ among investors. Recognizing the vital role of experience in investment success is crucial. Strategically withdrawing profits just before the market correction, I'm now seizing buying opportunities once again.

Building wealth involves developing good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments. Retirement is a valid goal. When your wealth is large enough to support a comfortable life there is no reason to pursue more. Live the life you enjoy. If you're a boring person and wouldn't have anything to occupy your time i suppose you could seek another job but make sure it's something you enjoy doing.
Retirement is a great goal--within reason. She is mid-40s and wants to be retired in 10 yrs. But no economic plan to get there. Teachers tend to be lower paid but have good retirement benefits. She seems to want to chuck all the financial security she also provides (cheap tuition for kids, good health insurance and retirement benefits). And let him take on all the financial burdens. She needs a major reality check😎

It’s going to be a reality check when the wife works retail and realizes she no longer gets weekends off, summers off, 2 weeks for Christmas off, spring break off, and Thanksgiving off. You think you’re burned out as a Teacher? Wait until you work a real 9-5.
Retail is pretty chill except for rush time. Try being in a factory or skilled trades on your feet doing heavy and or complicated stuff for 10 hours a day. That'll get her wishing to go back to retail let alone 8 hours a week
Teachers work far more than a 9-5 job. We take our work home with us. We work weekends. And yes, surprise! We work during our summers off. I have worked retail for 19 years and am a teacher. Yes, I get the holidays off. But, I work far more as a teacher.
I think what both sides of this thread font realize is that right now, she's doing both. She has the 24-7 stress of being responsible for the retail store (even if she's not there at the time) AND she's working as a teacher, with all the after-hours work involved. That's why she's stressed. It's too much to think about all the time. One or the other.
@@Bob-fk8vd Being a teacher is severely easy if you are organized. Nonetheless, working as a teacher is severely easier than working an 80 hour a week hard labour job that sometimes includes working outdoors in varying weather. Let's be real.

I agree. The kid has 5 years at most. They aren't considering the tuition cut or healthcare as lost compensation either. Private school tuition is like $30-60k, and another $7k for private health insurance. It will cost them twice her salary to quit the school. So 2 things actually happening here: 1. She wants to quit her job and she doesn’t care if it screws up all his stuff to do it. This is not cool. 2. She’s a teacher, statistically meaning she most likely values stability over all other concerns in her career choice and working environment. Thats neither wrong nor right, just her preference. They can surely find a superior solution to this, including him taking over the store 100%, he clearly cares about it more than her.

probably not. Good insurance for a family of 4 could easily be $2000 per month. That's still a significant amount of money at that salary. They're probably only paying $400 at her job. You'd also have to consider her lose of income when she quits.
People who don't make $200k think it goes much further than it actually does. I've been homeless and I've been rich, so I know what they both feel like.
My advice to this man would be to give her a percentage of both companies that evens out your incomes so that you do not have to pay alimony and child support. She will likely leave you. Afterward, you can buy the other portion from her. Honestly, if the genders were reversed, more people would call the husband lazy. Protect your assets. Good luck. From my understanding, marriage is about providing the best from both partners for your children, and it should be in a healthy balance. So, if she does most of the housework, factor that in as well. But if you're both doing about the same amount of housework and childcare, be prepared for her to leave. She doesn't seem to care to be a parent.
One thing not mentioned in this, is that she probably gets a pension from teaching. Which is something to definitely consider. Staying a teacher is probably the move for her.

Tell the wife tough luck, you get all nights, weekends, holidays, summers off as a teacher plus huge tuition discount for the kids, medical insurance, retirement, etc.... 5. If she insists on quitting teaching then tell her what you will have to give up with 'only' $150K salary. Details on that would have to be looked at by them based on spending habits, debts, etc...they might not be able to afford private school, fancy cars, fancy vacations, or whatever they might spend $ on.

The primary problem is the huge stress level it brings the wife to be involved in it. How do you calculate a cost there? With the guy already making $150-200K and the wife making say $50K to be a teacher then you are talking about going from $200-250K to $250-300K but the wife dealing with much more stress. Also, they own that business, so maybe they are able to sell it off for a nice chunk of change and put that towards the kids school, etc... This woman has taken this man’s money for granted.
So 2 things actually happening here:
1. She wants to quit her job and she doesn’t care if it screws up all his stuff to do it. This is not cool.
2. She’s a teacher, statistically meaning she most likely values stability over all other concerns in her career choice and working environment. Thats neither wrong nor right, just her preference.
This is a pretty dumb solution to her problem: less money, a job she doesn’t like running anyway, a career he’ll probably hate.
They can surely find a superior solution to this, including him taking over the store 100%, he clearly cares about it more than her.
Women aren't logical/rational. Allow her to make the decisions and lead the family/marriage, and she'll be leading it straight into the ground. Hope that dude stands up to her and makes this decision. But sounds like she could just divorce him soon since the stress and "unhappiness" is stacking up
A teacher? Great benefits, summers off, good pay, oh the humanity of it all.
Teachers do not have summers off and the pay is ridiculous for the hours it requires(50+/week) and the amount of education.
@@lyndalamb3221 Think what you want I know some that retire after 15 years full benefits. Yes they have summers off. Heard one teacher stating that's why she chose that field, Summer Off!
@@lyndalamb3221people forget that you need a degree to be a teacher.
I’m nearly 50 and I work at McDonalds. I’ve been the fry cook for 17 years and I love it. Yeah, my boss is 19 but we get along great.
at 200k, you can afford to buy your own insurance.
probably not.
@@harthart7529 So he would make $176K instead of $200K a year after paying for insurance. Yeah it sucks, but still a good amount of $$$.
24k is 1/8 of his income alone. they can afford that if she’s still working.
@@harthart7529 Pffft. A few years ago I made under 50k and bought my own health insurance.
Slags are always hags. Remember that.
Tell us you're an entitled female without telling us you're an entitled female. smh
One thing not mentioned in this, is that she probably gets a pension from teaching. Which is something to definitely consider. Staying a teacher is probably the move for her.
Every summer off, $250k businesses that you barely deal with, plus $20k discount tuition, plus a +$50k salary.
But you’re complaining about the stress?? What stress?
She needs to quit lol
