Thank you for this. Downloaded easily and I will try them out today. Currently mixing and mastering live band recordings. Great timing!

These look really useful. I've been mostly using Logic's built in mastering lately but I get a feeling I could get better results if I put K-Clip ahead of it. I used to use LoudMax which works quite well.

Thank you, Colin, and hello again from Transylvania, Romania. I will try these today! Now a longshot question: might you consider posting a tutorial on how to record/master an audiobook? Most audiobook tutors on YT seem to use the Audacity DAW but as a loyal Band Guide student (and occasional patron) I prefer Logic. Problem is the file specs, eg. as required by Amazon/ACX, are trickier than they might seem (max Peak -3dB; max RMS -18 to -23dB; noise floor -60dB). Thanks to you, I can mix and master a song to satisfy all the major streaming platforms but a single voice narration can be difficult! Any chance? Probably not, but I just wanted to ask, as I think there's a gap in the educational market : audiobook mastering in Logic. Thanks again for sharing your expertise.

Thanks so much! This video came out just as I was preparing to master some of my new songs. I'm curious how two limiters in a series work differently than just using one limiter. I suppose the same question goes for compression and EQ plugins. If one plugin turns up or down the source, wouldn't the second plugin just do more of that the same way? How does it work differently on the sound?

In a previous Mastering in GarageBand video, I heard you say to master to a -14db loudness using Youlean Loudness meter. Is that still your recommendation?

I heard that its better to mix when you turn your midi info to wav files. Is that true?

It is not really better it just saves a lot of CPU power and it's always better to commit once you get to mixing :)

Any FREE mastering and mix bus compressors that you consider superior to Logic’s native compressors and that can help a master sound richer?
