Absolutely brilliant. Basically taught me everything I know so far. .big respect for uploaded for free. People like you are the true legends behind the scenes.
Ok 20 mins into the tutorial took me literally HOURS but I made my own melody (only part I'm good at) and damn son we got a fyre beat!!! I FEEL SO ACCOMPLISHED THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU . I LEARNED SO MUCH!!!!!
There are epic amounts of piano lessons right here on youtube. Also if you just look up DVDs piano lessons look at teachers that are really really good, that is an endless source of lessons as well.
Wow, I 've spend good coin on courses that would teach me stuff like this, but this is the best tutorial I have seen yet and completely free. Cheers Will, thanks a lot
Thank you so much. Best tutorial for getting the basics down. Needed this. Once these basics are down pat, then creativity can play a role. Need the nitty gritty first tho. Phew. Took me 4 hours to follow along to this 20 min clip. Youtubing bits on the side. Still don't get chords. Think that'll have to wait. :D
Thank you so much! Direct and to the point, showing a lot of cool features along the way. You didn't leave me guessing anywhere... I just paused a lot. :-) Got through it and it stuck! Once I get used to what you taught me, I can easily start exploring more of the amazing features!
Thorough video. Taking us back to the start for a new version of Ableton. Detailaed button clicks for the newcomers yet stil nuggets hiding for the regulars. Not the video I was expeting this week, but excellent all the same. Top work, Will.
Thanks so much for the video Will! Your channel has really helped me feel less intimidated to learn music production! Cant wait to learn more from you 😄
Will, fantastic. As you may know, I've switched to Ableton. I've mentioned you in a post over there on Facebook. Anyways, with this video it was possible for me to find some functions in Ableton to set it up correctly. Also, handling Ableton became easier after this video. Thank you so much for it.
Thanks for the video as it has helped me learn some new tricks in Ableton. I would love to see you do a series on RUclips over beginning "studies, tips, and tricks" that build on one another.
Thanks for getting me started, it is literally the first time I had turned on Ableton live 11 lite, I followed as best I could but my track sounded like a piano falling down a cliff rather than your rather good recording.
i really love your tutorial style and approach. Im a total beginner at ableton and have tried watching many others and with your style and explanation i can safely say i am getting it for the first time. I have a few of your tutorials already playlist saved and subbed. Thank you
excellent, super tutorial. A bit fast at times but then the pause button comes in handy. Content wise it was exactly what I was looking for. Way to go, Sir!
Thank you for this. I've been struggling to learn how to use Ableton so I can follow your tutorials (I know everything you teach works in every DAW, but want to focus on the music and now where to find what in whatever other DAW). Thanks Will, looking forward to following your other tutorials now!
As a complete beginner, you lost me around not. "and now we an play it with our midi keyboard, or draw the notes in"... For 1 i dont have one. So i wanted to look into how to set the computer keyboard for that right away which distracted me, wouldve loved a super brief show on that as you go quite high speed. Then you drew in a chord progression? How? That wouldve been my first carrot to carry on, acutally getting the sound in. Not mentioning that the whole setup looks rather different on my screen, different windows being way differently sized... Moving on to somerthing easier for a complete beginner! Went fairly well up to that point even with screen looking rather different. Bless
Wow! Thanks a million for the lesson. Brilliant! Very easy to follow and understand - and that's coming from someone who is completly new at this. Your approach is inspiring.
Watching the part of creating the chords in this video help me to create them easy since I didn’t know I could select the scale so it can show me all the notes just in that scale thnx
Great to see your tutorial very helpful - Ive been a Tracktion DAW fan ages having tried everything years ago and it suited me best - but I never could finish a whole song and I got Ableton 11 Lite with my m-audio Oxygen Pro mini keyboard and gave it a try - been fumbling around with the help files and all different tutorials I could get my hands on but you have filled in lots of gaps in my knowledge and possibilities that I missed along the way!
After buying a couple of classes, I'm really impressed by your style of teaching! I was lost at first when the measures changed from 2 to 4. I finally figured that out. But it would be so great if you could add the actual notes you used for the synth, bass, etc. When you switched up the notes for the synth & bass, well, I can't really tell what you did. (I'm currently at 5:32.) I'm trying to duplicate them, but I'm having a hard time. Is there any way you can post the notes? I'm hoping I can continue with the video in spite of this. Thanks!
When sidechaining the kick drum you don't have to extract it to a separate track, since you can choose the specific channel in the drum rack when selecting the sidechain source.
Just went through this using the lite edition. Couldn't use all the effects but I have Arturia Analog Lab V and was able to get some good sounds. This was fun.
Hey thanks this is an awesome tutorial. Easy to follow and using only native Ableton is a real winner. With everyone else you are always to try to find something similar. Not to mention that the composition you created here sounds pretty awesome from Ableton in headphones. Cheers it was fun and informative I just hope that I can remember most of this for my own compositions, one day lol. Hope to see more of these in the future. Thanks again...
following note by note plagiarism haha but feel like it will help me learn. thanks so much bro! I have been a musician for years and want to become a producer. thanks so much.
the scale function in Ableton 11 is great, sorry too quick in the vids on how to do the scaling to a particular key but that’s because I’m new I guess… AND curve ball, wondered if you would consider doing a Depeche Mode style How to?! one of my all-time favs, showing my age possibly... they are not strictly EDM but maybe show another style in Ableton, that would be cool?
Love the videos, they’re helping me with my production so much. Would you consider doing a video on making your own intro song, like the ones they use at big festivals to hype up the artist coming on to stage. Not seen any videos on RUclips about it so would be a massive help, not just to me I’m sure
Awsome as always Will, I do have a question for anyone however. From what I've seen speed in producing seems to be a big factor in success for many producers however most artists/producers at best release an albums worth of material a year or maybe slightly more, so is it a matter of creating a song, finishing it and if it doesnt work moving on to the next? Or is it worth continually redrafting an idea untill you can get it to work? I've been stuck on a track for almost a month now and I dont want to move on because I always hear how important it is to finish tracks.
I have not upgraded to Live 11 yet. Do you recommend everyone should regardless of level? In other words, is there any reason why someone would not want to upgrade yet? How much is the upgrade, btw? Thanks!
Great question! I don’t think it’s essential if you have 10, but it’s worth it if you can afford it. Not sure on the price...it depends on what you’re upgrading from. You’ll have to check the website
