Newcastle fan here, fantastic interview. Such a good listen, great exclusives and thanks for just letting him talk. Loved Lee Bowyer when he was at the club. 👍
Always remember when we ( Leeds) were struggling financially and we lost bowyer smith woodgate Milner players over years I always happy they went to Newcastle instead of Man U Chelsea etc
Always enjoy the Podcasts but this one is right up there amongst the best. Listening to three cheerful fellas waffling on about football............and I loved it! COYI!
“I was green red, I never had amber” #pmsl 😂 on the dyer incident at the toon. An amazing interview and loved the insight on the Roeder team that sunk with 42 points 🤪
I love stories like Bowyer’s retold many years after that tells you something about the player, the set up and the background that I didn’t know. Always thought Bowyer as a bit of a thug but you can’t deny the passion of the man and his soul is clearly stamped with the irons of west ham⚒
He's got a couple of good stories, the 24 Hour Mcdonalds Burger Story and the Asian Student in Leeds ones are my favourites. He doesnt talk about these ones unfortunately
Great podcast...... seems like the 1st time Ive watched a Lee Bowyer interview....like the lad....use to think he was a but nutty, but comes across as a good egg.
Great interview. The biggest compliment I can give to Lee Bowyer is to say that if I'd been the England manager during a period of his time playing for Leeds United, I would have picked him in the starting line-up ahead of Paul Scholes. He was that good.
Yeah I’m a huge West Ham fan and I can’t even be biased on this one, absolutely no way bowyer would have been chosen ahead of scholes for England. Never. ⚒️
@@harryhatchet5147 It wasn't Scholes's fault. For a time, Alex Ferguson moved Ryan Giggs into more of an attacking central midfielder role. In order to fill the space that was left, Scholes was moved over towards the left-hand side of the pitch. It made him less effective. At the same time, Bowyer was on fire for Leeds United. That's the period of time that I am referring to.
Can't believe that as a professional footballer your on the verge of signing for one of the biggest club's in the world & walk out halfway through your medical...😉...There's only one Lee Bowyer....🛠⚒️
@johnashe4792 No he wasn't! He was still manager at the start of the 2008-09 season. (The Reading game was January 2007). This is what it says on Wikipedia (not always the most reliable source, I know but in this case correct) about the start of the 2008-09 season: "Despite the club taking six points from their first three games, he was unhappy with the club's transfer policy, after key players Anton Ferdinand and George McCartney were sold without his permission, a claim denied by the West Ham United board of directors, and he resigned his post on 3 September 2008. On 3 November 2009, Curbishley won his case for constructive dismissal against West Ham United. After the ruling, he said: "I am obviously delighted with this result. I very much enjoyed my time at West Ham and never wanted to leave, but on joining the club I insisted that my contract contained a clause confirming that I would have final say on the selection of players to be transferred to and from the club." West Ham paid him £2.2 million in compensation." I remember the 6-0 loss to Reading but he didn't get sacked because of it.
Regarding Mascherano..I think he got a straight red in first full start and then Pards got the sack and Curbishley just wasn't having him..unbelievable really because we were struggling and Mascherano would have helped massively..I know we stayed up but its not called the Great Escape for nothing
Don't ask me why but I always get Lee Bowyer and Tony Mowbray mixed up and confused, it's so weird 🤦♀️🤦♀️😂 Didn't know he was now managing Montserrat! That's a bit of a waste of talent if you ask me, he could still do a good job at a championship club if you ask me, I think he's a good manager 🤷♀️
We all hated him when he played against us but glad we had him when he came to us twice. I don't think he did anything special however and seemed average for us.
Yes as Lee said he was injured when he arrived the first time but he was a lot better in his second spell at the club. He would always give 100% which ever team he played in. Good old east end boy!
Hiya ! @321edho Break a leg 2:09 enjoy the curry 1:54 house 😂❤ h gotta no shirt but me great uncle charlie might know the old cop ! Stop looking at me via westlands London rd the old 86 ! 😂😂😂❤ 1:47
I'm from Poplar and remember seeing Lee play at the local park all the time. What a player!

Loved when you battered Dyer on the pitch and on the same team
So did I. A lot of Newcastle fans didnt exactly love Dyer.
Love a interview where the guest is just honest and clear. Needs to do some punditry 100%!
My favorite player of all times!
Leeds fans absolutely loved bowyer don’t make many like him anymore !

Curbishley wasn't sacked. He resigned because of issues relating to transfers.

Sure they played in same team as lee
Bit odd him not saying that
Great interview
I ain't taking that about 'keepers making a save and celebrating "it's your job" - what about strikers then?? XD
Quality
I remember Liverpool were looking to sign Bowyer 2002. I thought he’d be fantastic in a midfield with Steven Gerrard. It didn’t happen unfortunately.

Maybe west ham should take a leaf out of the Liverpool attitude, we might win more
That was over 20 years ago, I doubt it’s still the same
@@qtredhead actually think it is, lot of the old shankley traditions still in play.
@@mgk7963 I’m talking about training at West Ham. IDGAF what the other little do or don’t do

such a great question about leeds and money. maybe ask some more cutting questions of Moyes when we play shit
Good player but lot his balls playing for Liverpool
A kicker, out of order with Dyer and for being a womaniser.
Moyes out
Because his rubbish
Pity we didn't get him before Leeds.
Isn't he related to nobes?
