It’s so good to finally be able to accurately sharpen tools. It’s gonna increase the quality of my woodturning significantly because I can finally get nice, clean. Smooth cuts
Thanks again for all the support guys! I appreciate you watching every single week. Развлечения
Thanks for watching everyone! I ordered a Wolverine one-way Vari-Grind for my bowl gouges. Thanks to everyone who purchased tickets! The winner will be announced in the next few days.
You are not only amazing but also the youngest woodworker on RUclips. I am very impressed indeed. The work on Seth inspired jig is already under way in my workshop. Kudos to you.
I am utterly awed by your passion and enthusiasm for woodworking. Someday, you are going to be a fabulous craftsman. Great video!
Great to see a young man interested in something other then video games keep up the great work
Nice one mate, I look forward to building a similar system this weekend 👍
FABULOUS video young man! Your communication, instruction and demonstration are SPOT on! HAPPILY subscribed!
That was great. Very impressed.
I have the Wolverine sharpening system and you made a very usable version of it. I find that that taking a magic marker to "paint" the area to be sharpened, set it against the wheel and manually turn the wheel, you can tell where the grinding will be done. Then you can adjust the arm accordingly before turning it on. Another option may be to put a mark on the arm so you can set it to the same spot each time (though, this will eventually need to be changed as you sharpen the tool). Well done.
Love the care in which you use your equipment, Pitch and throw method.
This is a very clever design. Putting the box that tightens the shaft behind the grinder gets it out of the way but is still accessible. Very nice presentation and a great video.
Thanks Seth! I've now use the gouges sharpened on my new jig and the results are the best I've had on dried wood.
I am new at turning wood on my lathe this helped quite a bit.
Keep it simple: good job Seth!
Thank you for walking through this project.
Thanks for watching!
A great video look forward to your next video thank you for sharing

Excellent tutorial. I am going to make one now. Thanks for this video
I made the same kind of thing a few years ago, made a tilting table too. Try it, I made mine to clamp on to the arm. Works a treat. Keep up the good work. 👍
Well done. Your presentation was quite good and informative. Now I need to go make me one also.
Good job Seth!
well done great video i shall be making one myself over the weekend, many thanks from the me in the UK
Hey Seth. Thanks so much for presenting this vid. It has answered so many questions for me. I am 68 and just started turning Pens. One thing I am not good at is sharpening the various chisels. Your vid has shown me the perfect jig. Thanks again. Dave (Buddha) Winch, Beachmere, Queensland, Australia
david Winch glad you enjoyed the video!
Really good job well made
Amazing handmade
Great jop my friend.I will do the same soon for my tools. Thanks
great and simple thanks...
Absolutely!
Great Vid Seth, if you color in the angle with a marker you can the hold the tool against the grinding wheel with it off and turn the wheel by hand when you see the marker being removed across the length of the grind you know your angle is dead on.
Thank you. I'm going to make it.
Vert inpressed. I have a project for this weekend. Thank you
Neat video
Great video Seth. I will be making this soon. Any suggestions as to how to sharpen skew chisels on this jig?
I'm late to the show, but wanted to say I'm really enjoying your channel Seth. Keep it up.

I see every comment! Thanks for commenting.
One thing that I'm constantly being reminded of is the expansion and contraction of wood can turn on you. I was reminded of that the other day when I got out my table saw sled and quickly discovered that the quarter sawn white oak guides had bound up in the slots from humidity changes. Hmmm, Q S oak isn't supposed to do that.... And then there's the flip side where you've now got too much slop. I think I need to change to UHMW plastic for those guides.
I’ve had this jig for about 3 years now. Never had that issue. The tolerance between the slide and the guide isn’t super tight
@@seths_custom_creations I needed to use the same sled a couple days ago and now its so sloppy... I've got a spare set of miter sliders somewhere, I guess its time to swap them out if I can find them. The humidity around here can go from 20%, sometimes less, to 80% through out the year.
Should there be an arm for both wheels? Or is it effective to sharpen on just one grit? If so, which grit do you recommend?
It’s easy to swap wheels
😃👍🏻👊🏻
Safety glasses buddy!
Take your mask of bro lol
Hi Seth! Congrats on starting your adventure. Suggestions: you don’t need to yell, your mic is fine. Also, check out Matt Carriker’s Off the Ranch channel for ideas on music, editing. And he’s funny. He’s a vetinarian with a lot of projects (He has 2 other channels). And he owns Bunker Branding which makes merch for YT influencers. Good luck!
Aggie fan thanks for the feedback! I’m very aware of Matt Carriker! I’m a huge fan of demolition ranch, and his other 2 channels! I may look into Merch.....
You need to change your wheel to a fine grind also slowing the wheel down may help you by getting a Variable rheostat switch
Generally I turn it on, let it get up to speed, and then use it while it’s winding down
When you graduate from college with your BSME I will have a job waiting for you. As a Sawstop owner, get a Harvey unless your insurance says otherwise.
OK that's pretty cool, that means learn about hardwoods. Bye Jerry
Also, PLEASE wear eye & ear protection.
The grinding wheel you are using is way too course
Thanks!
I say 1 thing. At the age of 30 you will be god.
Haha
