- Part 1 of 3. From pilot episode of Blues and Twos 'Medevac'- Broadcast in 1993 when the service used an Aerospatiale SA-365 Dauphin helicopter with orange branding sponsored by Express Newspapers.
Wow! Just watched the later HEMS LONDON specials, and this one, even though 1993 reminds me of the '70s!
I loved Blues and Twos, watched it when i was a kid. and ended up purchasing the video.
Laurie Mayer narrated the series from 1993-1997. From Joe. X
I'm a (non-emergency) doctor and I've seen some of these doctors in action, both on the roadside and in A&E Resus, and they're outstanding..it really is a good thing to bring them to the patient's side as there are things they can do e.g. chest surgery that paramedics can't. Briliant.
Can't believe no one turned the Lorry off .
Not any more, ketamine is used by EEAS flight paramedics (without a DR present) also secamb CCPs. They also have IV paracetamol
@Emsworker68. Most of the DRs on HEMS have been or are surgeons / A+E(ER) consultants and have been known to do surgery in the street such as amputations and even in some cases opening the pt's chest, things that a CCP can only dream of doing. Hope this helps
go on Uncle Allan.
Does anyone have a link to the same series but the episode of the armed merseyside police ? Looked for it for years on RUclips without success
im going to be doing an eas scenario on that bomb thing
Why did the bomb cause static on 7:53?
most likely RF interference created by the remote detonation device which the bad guys used to set the device off
Thank goodness potatoes have evolved since 1993...
What is the purpose of risking the helicopter and crew to make such a dangerous landing and then transport by ground? You could have delivered the physican by sprint car and not spend as much money or endanger the community with a risky air operation.
Doctors Working on HEMS will open a chest or amputate on scene if they need to.
@havoc999998. "They have to know 60+ Medications, and different types of procedures such as Surgical Airways, Intubation" What you mean like a UK paramedic has to? " stop comparing Medics to Doctors. A Paramedic can handle any type of emergency just fine. I'm not denying that. But can any para regardless of country open a patients chest or amputate on scene etc? NO didn't think so
