Thanks Andrew and Bernardo for this fascinating discussion! However, I don't really understand Bernardo's desire to "follow the flow of the Transpersonal Mind at large", when this seemingly instinctive mind does not appear to have anybody's interest at heart! It seems to be at times somewhat evil so why follow it blindly? So many interesting reflections come to mind ! Thanks again!
It is a wonderful and serious conversation about the nature of reality. Ignorence is not a bliss, and accepting the truth is important even if it is unpleasant.
Superficially, Bernardo Kastrup SEEMS to be promulgating the most ancient spiritual teaching of Advaita Vedanta (as found in the Upanishadic texts of India) but due to reasons I won't go into at length here, his understanding is rather flawed. If one carefully listens to any of his monologues or interview videos, it is obvious (at least it is obvious to those who are truly enlightened) that he regularly confuses and conflates discrete consciousness (as emerging from the neural networks of animals) and UNIVERSAL Consciousness (which is the all-pervasive, eternal ground of all being, more appositely termed "The Tao", "Brahman" or "Infinite Awareness"). He also believes in (limited) freedom of volition, which is, of course, ludicrous, and his understanding of suffering is truly infantile, which is unfortunate, since the eradication of suffering is the goal of life. In order to PROPERLY understand the distinction between the two aforementioned categories of consciousness, you are welcome to email me for a copy of "A Final Instruction Sheet for Humanity", which are the most authoritative and accurate precepts extant. My address is on my RUclips homepage. However, my main criticism of Kastrup is not with his metaphysics, it is, rather, his METAETHICS. He is, objectively speaking, afflicted with a demonic mentality, as demonstrated with his support of all things contrary to Dharma (the law, and societal duties), such as egalitarianism, feminism, homosexuality, and socialism. In a recent interview, for example, he displayed abject ignorance when discussing the topic of animal consumption. Hopefully, he will one day realize how incredibly hypocritical he is in this regards, and become a compassionate VEGAN. 🌱 After all, to criticize Bernardo for his teachings being only, let's say, ninety percent accurate, would be silly, since, compared with almost every other person who has ever lived, his philosophical understanding is fairly sound. Yet, what is the point of being even TOTALLY correct about metaphysics, when one's metaethics and normative ethics is fundamentally flawed? Furthermore, Bernardo has admitted that he has struggled with mental health issues for several decades. I would suggest he flee to the loving arms of an ACTUAL spiritual master in order to learn Dharma (as well, of course, correct his flawed metaphysics). Peace!

I’ve heard Bernardo doubt that mind at large can ever be still but those who meditate drop into the level of consciousness that’s beyond the ripples or excitations - yet pregnant with possibility. It’s rich, full, ripe kind of emptiness without thought 💭
Bernardo's analysis of evil really doesn't hold water. It isn't at all clear that Putin's motivation is geopolitical abstraction, or that geopolitical abstraction can even be a motive (an explanation or justification, yes). Sadism does not necessarily involve a consensual relationship, nor does that term refer only to sex. The sadistic abuse of a child is not evil but war (which takes place on a geopolitical scale) is? That doesn't make sense.

Light years away from being 'truly enlightened', as you clearly believe yourself to be, you really should seek psychiatric help for that massively inflated ego of yours before it's too late. Peace !
I don't think that Brahman cares much about whom we have sex with or whether we are neoliberal cheerleaders. There are 1001 ways to be human, being attracted by people of the same sex is just one way among others. All these categories you use are simply man-made categories knowledge bound to dissolve in more fundamental aspects of reality. That said, I'm glad you raised the issue with Bernardo. There is something off. His reasoning is powerful, but he relies too much on cognition and he lacks experiential knowledge like many Indian philosophers. What he says about vertigo is a good example. He seems not to understand that a trained mind can handle things that an untrained mind can't, including fundamental reality. Namaste 🙏
@@TheVeganVicar I keep an open mind to whatever the most fundamental aspect is. I take note of the Vedic and Buddhist views and do not get into arguments about which finger or conceptualization of the moon is best. I practice and find my way to the moon step by step, whatever it is. So, I have no definition to offer of what cannot be defined. My only point is I find it weird and dangerous to reify human-made rules on sexual orientation and socio-economic organization as an attribute of the fundamental reality. All these are just relative knowledge that does not have any intrinsic value. Plus, these human-made categories are usually used to inflict a lot of pain on certain groups of people, which I find highly problematic. To me, sexual preference is a meaningless detail and discriminating against people based on it is silly. My experience of meditation and my reading Indian texts lead me to think that the path is one of love and integration, regardless of its form (Hindu, Islamic, Agnostic...). If your path leads you to increase your sense of separateness and related hate, then you are misled. I guess you'll disagree but that's fine, I don't burn people who disagree with me. I welcome diversity, which seems to be a core aspect of Nature. All the best to you!
