Company practices Bait And Switch tactics. The parts you buy are not always the parts you get. I have reported them to the Office of Consumers Bureau of Wisconsin. They stated they are and have been compliling evidence against them. Yet have failed to do so. Basically protecting them from punishment. That's why their bad business practices continue to go unpunished.

The more parts you buy from them, the more risk you run of getting burned big time. I got lucky with about 4 orders in a row but on my last order it was a mild shit-show. One part was defective so I had to take the whole dang front end apart again. Another part didn’t fit properly, ugggh.

Parts quality is fine for me. But man the shipping SUCKS. Gotta pay through the nose to get it "quicker" and it still doesn't guarantee squat as to when your parts will actually get there. Had a part go from Jersey to New Mexico back to Kansas City. No recourse whatsoever to get any kind of refund on paying extra for shipping. If you got a project that you are in absolutely no hurry to get parts or NOBODY else has the part besides them, pay the cheapest shipping option possible because it's just a big racket honestly.

Just had a issue with a order and discovered they have no way to contact them. Luckily it was only on a $15 part, but it opened my eyes to the danger of ordering from them. If this had been a large order I would have no way to contact anyone! I've also spent thousands with RA, but no longer. Its just not worth the risk.

NO CUSTOMER SERVICE !!!!!!!! IT IS NOT WORTH THE SAVINGS BECAUSE THEY WILL BE NEGATIVE. I have ordered gas struts for the hood and for the hatch on a land cruiser, and received the wrong ones, seeing their return system I decided to take the loss. Figured it was not worth the trouble. My dumbass needs a transfer case actuator for a 07 tundra and it arrives damaged, not in shipping but poorly handled at their warehouse because the component box was damaged not the component box so I immediately started a return and delay. I paid extra for faster shipping because of a time crunch and 3 days later, no email, no new tracking, no one to call. Rockauto is the slot machine of Autoparts stores. A bad gamble and it is a shame they have adopted such a crappy model to do business because they could still beat the pants off the competition if they dropped some execs at the top to hire a few dozens of customer service agents.

Had to do a credit card refund once with them and they blocked my email/account afterwords. I have ordered with them since with a new email/about a lot of times and most stuff is good but definitely some small issues. From my understanding they are just selling parts out of the backrooms of parts stores. So some may have been opened and or customer returned.

I’ve been buying rockauto parts for over 5 years, spent 5000$ plus on many different things for many different cars. If the parts you get don’t show up damaged from shipping they will be damaged from who ever rebuilt it,holes won’t line up,parts are the worst quality ever,if the part shows up right. When they don’t you’ll be paying to return them and then they will do whatever it takes to not return your money and you better believe there taking a percentage of that money for there failed or bad parts. I’ve got pictures, story’s and so much proof of them keeping my money and not caring about the damage there’s parts caused in what ever sense it is. ROCKAUTO is the worst parts company on the planet and I’ll never by parts there again.

Great prices on good parts has been my experience. However, it's the goofy shipping cost tricks they do. If you have ordered multiple parts at the same time you know what i mean. They deliver the parts from different locations to maximize the shipping and handling costs. By the end of the day it's cheaper ordering parts from somewhere else that has free shipping or ordering from a local parts retailer.

"F&^# RockAuto" is what I say. I stopped doing business with them this year. I bought a CTM for a Dodge Dakota (Central Timer Module) for $400.00. When it arrived, it had a sticker over the wire terminals, which you have to remove to plug in the wiring harness. When you remove the sticker it leaves the word "VOID" on the CTM. Their website listed part numbers their part supposedly matched, too. (My part number was in that list so their part should have worked.) When I put it in the truck, it did not work properly. I mailed it back and RockAuto only paid me back $200 saying it was now a core charge due to the "void" on the CTM. I told them you have to pull that sticker off to install the damn part. I wrote several emails back and forth, got the BBB involved (what a joke, too) and to this day RockAuto still has the $200 they STOLE from me. They are a dishonest company and nothing but thieves! No phone number to talk to, it's all done by emails. LOUSY customer service.

I’ve been ordering from Rock Auto for over five years now, only one issue with a leaked hydraulic motor mount in a sealed bag, in an undamaged box, there is no way they could have known.
They had a replacement at my door in 2 days. Granted, it wasn’t for a customer that I had to explain a part delay to. Just sharing my experience.
I don’t think they are out to do bad by anyone, but you have to remember, they aren’t the conglomerate that Amazon is, Amazon can refund your money as soon as they get a return shipment tracking number. Rock Auto is Mom and Pop compared to the Amazon.

had an '08 F150 which has a 2-piece driveshaft, which broke at the center carrier (very common). actually the center carrier was ok and it was the retainer that broke and its a non-service item. thanks ford.
bought what rockauto claimed was a "made in the usa" driveshaft. upon arriving not only was it clear that it was some chineese bs with low quality welds, but the driveshaft looked odd... why do you ask... because it was missing the slider to compensate for any suspension movements, meaning the rear section could NOT slide into the center carrier like the oem, which meant first bump would cause something to break as there's no place for the driveshaft to move with the suspension.
you'd think returning this would be easy... guess again.
the box they shipped it in was cheap and pretty much a one way deal, so had to reinforce it with plywood, which i luckily had around, and then borrow a strapping tool to secure everything.
they got it and refunded me for the driveshaft, but tried sticking it to me for the shipping, so filed and won with paypal.
there's no way of speaking to a live person at rockauto... its all email communication.

I think I'm going to have to stop buying from them. It's been mostly a positive experience. Except today, a part failed after 2 months. apparently I can only send the defective part back and get a new one shipped. Well guess what, I have to go to work tomorrow, so I had to buy the part locally. So I guess I'll send the old part back and get an extra part to sit on my shelf for 20 years and probably never need it. I think I should just buy parts from locally owned NAPA and support local business, even if I do pay more. At least I can return the part if it fails in the warranty period.

I used to use rock auto all the time but now I find
it's cheaper too buy local because the part at Rock
auto may be $10 but too get it to your door even
if the part weighs next too nothing it could be
almost $40, so most of the time no it's cheaper
to buy the part where I live sometimes maybe spend
$5 more locally and get it the SAME DAY! Rock auto
has great prices but they are taking themselves out
with sky high shipping prices, so for me, I opt out.
I know that's where they make their money but it
seems that Rock Auto is loosing their way and getting greedy.

Yup!!!! They sucks !!!! They send the wrong parts for my Jeep. There is no way to insert Vin number of the car which would have made things easier.
There is also no way to contact them and too bad I found this out when my car was dismantled at the Mecanic. Needless to say that I had to spend $700 extra as I had to repurchase the parts again at autozone right then and there .To top it off, they don’t have customer service bc they claim is to “ keep their parts at lower cost “ but that is BS. I bought the rotors for about same price at autozone .
Then I go on the website to process the return and it is a complicated situation to any person who is non-computer savvy to get a pre paid label from them. It was extremely hard. I only got one label and so I was only able to return one box. I’m sitting with the other box bc I refuse to pay for shipping on my own at a regular price .
