    I have a Kastking Kestrel BFS reel being shipped to Hobie Wan Kenobe Fishing to test and review as I'm watching this. Thank you for sharing the in-depth specifications and detailed review you do... and yes Kastking has been shaking up the industry from its beginning. 🍺🎣

      I found the casting to be outstanding with thie mj elites. Im little set in my ways and finding the flipping switch to be a task to get figured. Only complaint I had is the spool engagement when not using the flipping switch could be sticky at times(spoke with kastking and have a new one in route). But other than that I've been really satisfied with it, the sheer fact that theyre attempting new things was enough to rope me in.

      Durability??? I seized 2 Speed demon pros in less than 1 season. My Curado Ks are on their 5th season and still smooth as butter. For the price, there's no way I would get it over a Curado BFS with micro module gears. I know it's not magnesium, and a little heavier, but you're not going to wear yourself out on any bfs reel.

    The kestrel handles are way wider then the Aldebaran , but if it set as low as my Aldebaran, I would possibly purchase one . I love the low , narrow , palming qualities of my mgl . But I want an upgrade .

    Correct me if I’m wrong but, wouldn’t the price reflect the R&D companies like shimano & daiwa put into creating a technology? And would a company that just gets oem parts that copy proven technology bring down the price?

    • @zihotki
      @zihotki 2 года назад +1

      Price rarely reflects R&D, price reflects marketing. It's marketing who creates market segmentation and decides which features go where and for what price.

    • @arnulfoperez5523
      @arnulfoperez5523 2 года назад

      @@zihotki I think R&D has more influence than you think. If you think about it most of the oem never have created technology, they always copy another brand a change one thing and they get away w patent infringement. That’s why the aldeberan bfs come out w a new model every few year and oem brands make tons of different reels in that same time period and you never see the opposite where a shimano or daiwa copy someone else’s tech

    • @smartiejl
      @smartiejl 2 года назад

      If you think price = innovation, then you are fooling yourself.
      Once a brand is well established, R&D fiscally becomes something of a diminishing return, and most of its price draw begins to come from the brand prestige, because the company knows most consumers are willing to pay for the brand name because they are more comfortable with it.
      Shimano and Daiwa are both great companies, but they also live off past laurels. Change a color or shape then jack up the price, they have been doing that for years, because the consumers are buying every time. Mid- and low-tier Shimano and Daiwa products are not Japanese-made, not even Chinese-made, but made in Malaysia, Vietnam and Laos (where they can get the cheapest workers with even less pay and regulations than China), yet everyone just assumes these factories are state-of-the-art because the brands are Japanese.

    My fellow anglers, DO NOT scoff at the KASTKING name..!!! I as 14 when my father introduced me into "serious" game fish angling, with Shimano being the "TOP" of the heap fishing equipment !! I'm now 69yrs. old, and after purchasing my first KASTKING reel 4 years ago, ( mainly for Crappie fishing ) , there is "NO" other..!! I still have a few Shimano outfits, (collectibles ) , and have since given 11 Shimano outfits away to other anglers, (both young and old) who praise them as priceless..!! Glad to have mad them that happy..!! For me...KASTKING has more than replaced them as "far better" equipment, and will be my "ONLY" go to until I can't hold a rod any longer..!!! By the way...Just for the record...the largest harvest with one of KASTKINGS Royal Legend 200 reels, spooled with Seaguar ABRAZX fluorocarbon in 20lb.test, was a Tiger Muskie @ 56" and 42 lb. 14oz. To me, that was about as rough of a durability test as you could ask for, as far as fresh water species..!!! Do yourself a favor..."Try" one of their reels, you "WILL NOT" be disappointed ..!!!!

The only one worth a damn was the speed demon pro but even that one took a hot dump in about a year and a half. CS was a joke to, because i bought the pieces of crap from their amazon store instead of their online store, they refused to do anything about the junk they sold me, NEVER AGAIN. I have a 1st gen abu silvermax combo i bought 6 years ago that still works and it was the same price as one of original KK budget reels.

    I still don’t understand what makes a BFS Reel different thank any other Baitcasting Reel, you use Finesse when you fish a Frog or Worm etc.

      The reason behind that ultralight spool is to cast ultralight lures.

    • @willtrax71
      @willtrax71 2 года назад

      @@smartiejl that makes sense, with top-tier bearings and light spool yeah that would be great to accurately cast 1/8th ounce etc. I can cast 1/8-1/4 all day but surgical and precision is another story lol..

      @@willtrax71
      Not just cast accuracy.
      Lighter spool means the lure can achieve a faster launch at the initial phase without more mass dragging behind the line, so the casting distance theoretically improves.
      And later in the lure flight, where it gets slowed down quite quickly by air resistance, a lighter spool carries less inertia and can be braked more efficiently. That means less chance of backlashing.

    This reel is not up to the challenge yet. Kastking is not capable of making such fine reels. I rather stick to Soloking BMC100. It is well made reel that you can count on. Not all Chinese made reel are trash..

    Why by an imitator when you can own the master, buy the Shimano Curado over a "Kastking" every day.

      I was going to wait until they officially went on sale but I had the chance to get one really early and I knew there would be thousands of people waiting for my review before ordering so I went ahead and got it even though I paid close to retail.
