For my money, I would gladly pay more for something that requires less maintenance, rather than the opposite!
Finding that “sweet spot” is essential. It should be stylish and well made enough, yet not require super high maintenance.

Not all expensive trousers are high maintenance though. I have a pair of Acronym P10's which I wear regularly but as the materials they use are usually highly water and abrasion resistant, plus also having super high build quality, they always look practically new after a wash. Granted, not everyone is into that kind of technical aesthetic but they also have quite a few flexible items in their roster, that can let themselves to a number of different fit styles.

Great video, thought about this myself with purchasing FOG Mainline items on sale ($238 vs $795 for cargos) vs affordable alternatives that make more sense for most people's closets/wallets. Buying a higher quality/designed item like you showed may flow/drape better and when cared for well, gives you more value over time and per wear. However, people have to decide if the affordable aesthetic makes more sense right now for them as they fund other things beyond their dream wardrobe, or if they are willing to save up for those higher cost pieces they're willing to take care of so they last and complement their dream look each wear.

I own a pair of issey pleats, I've accidentally slept in them a few times and the pleating does flatten out but not drastically. The butt and knees area do feel more flatten but it still looks nicely pleated. So I don't think you always have to baby the pleats, they're still very nice pants that can be worn for long durations.

My problem with pants as a larger guy, is finding pants that are high waisted, have room in the thigh, but aren't super baggy in the bottom leg. It feels impossible to find a pair like this. I can never find anything with enough thigh room to be comfortable enough for me to want to buy. I've found a few pairs of womens pants that are high waisted and have room in the thigh... but being almost 6ft, they never go down far enough and show more skin than I'd like, personally.
If you have any recommendations for pants that do have thigh room and are high-waisted, I would love to hear about it because so far, no luck!

You could try drop crotch pants. As a big buy myself I love them. Since the crotch is so low it allows you to pull them basicsally as high as you'd like, not only that but they allow you to really mess with the proportions of your fit and silhouette

have you looked the levis 541 i think its a athletic fit with a taper at the bottom or the 551z which is a 501 except bagger. Also the levi apps runs 50 + 20% off all the time so you can aquire some for around 15-30 bucks when they on average are 90

Appreciate the replies, guys. I'd go for Levi's if I knew they'd fit, but, as I said, it's a thigh room problem.
I'll look into drop crotch and see if that can help solve my problem, thanks for the idea.
And yeah, I'll probably have to bite the bullet and go to a tailor, but here's hoping I can find a more inexpensive option!

Teslas? Good quality? Did I step into a bizarro dimension? Comparison aside, I see the value of $500 pants with an iconic design like that but it seems like too much for something I would be afraid to wear outside unless the weather is perfect and I'm not doing anything that might get them dirty or damaged. I'd rather spend that kind of money on jackets, knitwear or coats. I have a few pairs of trousers from Olive or other brands that cost a bit more, but 9/10 no one I know is going to notice the difference.

Uniqlo is timeless. Uniqlo drawstrings on those smart trousers are good. It means I don't need to use a belt (clean look). Belts can sometimes ruin a fit. I'm in between medium and small so I buy medium. Olive looks cool but that brand is not available in my country. Maybe COS is equivalent to Olive here. That Issey Miyake needs too much care. LOL! I have my eyes on my first $$$$ Yohji Yamamoto pants.
Fit #1 Olive. The shape stands out since you just wore a simple t-shirt.
Fit #2 Uniqlo. Contrasting proportions to your wide shirt.
Fit #3. (sad to say) H&M .The long coat overpowers the interesting shapes of Olive and Miyake. Uniqlo, Olive, Issey Miyake are cropped pants so longer pants seem to give a more balanced look.
Fit #4. Olive or Miyake. A wide shape goes well with the boots you are wearing.
