- Sheherazade opus 35 is a symphonic suite composed by Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov in ST Petersburg in 1888. The suite is based on the famous collection of Arabian fairy tales 'Thousand and one Nights'. This composition belongs to the very best of Russian classical music and is generally considered as Rimsky-Korsakov’s best orchestral piece. Especially the most rich and colourful orchestration, masterly suggesting the oriental fairy tale atmosphere, is quite unique. The Spanish specialist arranger Juan Vicente Mas Quiles (1921) states that he tried to approach as closely as possible the original orchestral sounds in this splendid transcription of the complete orchestral suite. One can obtain all movements separately as well.
