Stunning. The fact that you did proper mechanical repairs and allowed the machine to remain in its original condition without a flashy restoration speaks volumes of your devotion to what really matters. It looks great and sounds like a dream. Congratulations, enjoy the machine safely for many years, and thanks for a great posting.
My grandfather rode a Henderson back in Detroit in the 30's; when I came back east in 1972 on my Honda 750 and visited him in a little town not far out of Charlevoix, he told me some good stories. Then he hopped on my 750 , hand after I explained the 5 speed and all, he took off for a couple of hours, showing off to his other retired buddies. He also had an Indian, I guess and traveled quite a bit on the bikes. He said he'd never made it to Vegas, though, thats where I was coming from.
This is possibly one of the most rarest breed of motorcycle that i've ever seen. I love how much work and dedication you have put in the motor and its just a wonderful sight to behold mate..Enjoy this one of a kind motorcycle
Nuthin runs like a good ol HENDERSON.....Had the privilege of seeing a few leave 4 THE CANNONBALL RUN IN 2012 from Motorcyclepedia...Newburgh N.Y. BIG FAN
You must be very proud.OUTSTANDING!!!! A great example of a great motorcycle company and a great Motorcycle Era. Now you just need a Horse hide jacket some Leather gauntlet gloves,Leather aviator cap and some goggles and your all set.
People who designed and built her? Dead. People who bought and loved her? Mostly dead. But somehow they're living on when this original machine roars into life!
I LOVE the fact that you didn't unnecessarily restore it! UN-restored original, in good working order is far and away better than restored. Just like scrapping, once they're all restored, there are NONE left that are original. VERY nice machine!
Very comfortable. This is a full pan seat, old and raggy but comforable. Sounds great a cruising speed of 55 mph. I have a stock exhaust, but found this 1930's aftermarket "Zoomer" exhaust. Correct period piece!
I TOTALLY did NOT expect that smoothness, power, and general 'revability' in a cold engine that ancient! Totally must have been a major contender for the period. VERY impressed!
What a beautiful machine with the original patina! That sound is phenomenal. I would love to be able to have one of these, as is! Thank you for that wonderful video :-)
Wow, that's all the motor are so old. I really like this kind of motor. Thank you for uploading this video to the world. You can watch this video after the next generation. Really you are a wonderful person. Thank you again.
Geez that 4 cylinder sounds wonderful! Give my eye teeth to go for a cruise on this gem. You're lucky to have her sir, leave her exactly as she is and ride her often.
My dad had a four cyl Indian that he bought before WWII. He still had it when we moved to Roswell, NM in the 50s when I was five. I remember riding in back of him on that huge seat around Walker AFB. He finally got a offer he couldn’t refuse and he had three kids he was supporting on a Major’s salary. That bike was a super trooper if there ever was one. Noisy but smooth, pretty paint, low to the ground.
I found one of these in a barn fifty years ago. was fun to ride with a suicide clutch and hand shifting. these engines were also popular for early ultralight aircraft like the Heath Bathtub.
James Clark those inline 4s were early aircraft engines yes not just for early ultralights. They were also utilized for early WWI trainers. Even when on a motorcycle. The engine does sound like an aircraft engine
Gracias. Realmente disfruto restaurando y montando motocicletas antiguas. No tengo ningún interés en ninguna motocicleta moderna. ¡Máquinas tan increíbles hace 100 años!
Love the speedometer drive set up, that was state of the art technology back then, super cool now. Would have that over any 6 figure bling ride out ther today anyday.
Wonderfully!! All the bearings in the chassis are new, and the motor was built with many NOS parts. Very responsive on the throttle, shifts smoothly, and even stops sometimes! Thanks for your comment. JR
I come back here sometimes just to listen to that incredible sound. Nothing else like it. These must have driven people wild when they were brand new, not to mention now.
I honestly think this peace of art should be kept in a motorcycle museum or so , for all the motorcycle lovers world get a chance to see it and appreciate it.
Superb !!! One of my favourites, really good to see such an original example. Looks like it has an external contracting band brake on the rear wheel. 👍
+wdowa94 it sounds like an old golf 3 1.2. i mean the engine isnt that much smaller and its a mid-revving i4 engine. in other words: nothing for me. but thats all taste anyway.
I rode a 1925 Henderson excelsior inline 4 just like that one. We had the original owners manual that said that the speed range was from 6mph to 106mph! I had it going 80 plus mph on a dirt horse track shifting into forth gear when I was passing a BSA gold star. When I looked back the died was spraying out the back as I was drifting the corner. Lol I was 15 and not wearing a helmet and was just in the swim shorts. Ah the good old days!
in 1972, age 20, this was my dream bike and I thought I was going to buy one. The bike presented to me was British, single cylinder and 1/2 the size. I have never regretted buying it, or its big 1000cc 4; but deep down, there is yearn to feel, ride, experience one of these marvelous bikes. Please do not 'improve' its looks! Coat it with an invisible preservative. Goodness it sounds wonderful
The most impressive thing in this video is the fact that he started that old beast in flip flops ,a testament to his skill and hard work ,I salute you sir .
Fabulous machine. Congratulations on a highly sympathetic restoration. I've just had my 1975 Moto Guzzi recommissioned after 37 years sitting dormant. It was great to start it for the first time a few weeks ago.
A guy found a Henderson in his grandfather's barn and brought it in for me to get running when I was a Triumph dealer back in 1954. Hadn't run since the beginning of the war. New tires and tubes, cleaned the carb, got the gunk out of the tank and it ran like a clock. What really surprised me was the torque when you revved the engine.
absolutely beautiful looking and beautifuly sounding. amazing piece of history. I can't believe how healthy it sounds, I like the exhaust baffle system, lol, very advanced for the time. 😀 👍 👍 👍 👍
I don't know jack about bikes, but every time I see one of these antique bikes and hear them start... I just want to be on one reallly bad. They seem so much more badass than any bikes these days
My father had a lightplane called the Heath Parasol with this 4cyl Henderson engine. At the time he was editor of the Flying Manual published by the Fawcett Publishing Co. Heath also designed the "Baby Bullet" but not many made. They also published "Modern Mechanix and Inventions" and annuals like "How to build 20 Boats" etc etc

What a wonderful piece of history, running sitting there looking pretty damn good, a big thanks 🇺🇸😎👍
Awesome restauration/salvation. Perfectly excecuted. Just a beautifull, original bike. I love the patina and sound. Incredible machine. Great job!!!

No modern bike could sound so beautiful. Really a gem. Thanks for the video.
That's an unbelievable beauty! Hang on to it and don't be afraid to ride it!! She'll love the road as much now as she did in '28!

Wel said.

True
Those Hendersons, and Indians were smooth road warriors in their day. The in-line four was a success back then, why not today ?
I LOVE the fact that you didn't unnecessarily restore it! UN-restored original, in good working order is far and away better than restored. Just like scrapping, once they're all restored, there are NONE left that are original. VERY nice machine!

did Rich find the video?
no me canso de ver este video.
El sonido es hipnotico
Awesome exhaust note, like a hungry sports car.
good vision
I am so glad this jewel found a home with an understanding and capable owner. I know you won't change a thing. Thank you.
I have other original bikes, and just finishing a 1929. See my other videos. Thx for the nice comment!
That's a real gem. Love it.
90 years old bike. Awesome. Love it. Love that doggy too.
Surprisingly smooth running. I love the un-restored/barn-find look. Very nice! 8^)
I TOTALLY did NOT expect that smoothness, power, and general 'revability' in a cold engine that ancient! Totally must have been a major contender for the period. VERY impressed!
Thank you Gary. Start, shift, ride smoothly. Expensive for the day, popular with police departments, and sporting gentlemen!
What a beautiful machine with the original patina! That sound is phenomenal. I would love to be able to have one of these, as is! Thank you for that wonderful video :-)
Amen, would that modern bikes sound that good.
Love the fact these old bits of kit are still around! More so they are taken out, fired up and used!. Bril, Nuff said. 🙂
No words to express !!! great bike and great restoration !!!
What a beautiful, beautiful old girl. Magnificent restoration. Well done.
Wow, that's all the motor are so old. I really like this kind of motor. Thank you for uploading this video to the world. You can watch this video after the next generation. Really you are a wonderful person. Thank you again.
The classic never dies! Even a old machine can start up decades after it was built! Anything is possible!
Utterly fantastic!! LOVE the sound!
Geez that 4 cylinder sounds wonderful! Give my eye teeth to go for a cruise on this gem. You're lucky to have her sir, leave her exactly as she is and ride her often.
Save your teeth. You can ride it anytime. If you are ever on the east coast, send me a message.
I'd take one of those over a Harley any day! Really cool and industrial looking, Definitely something that was built to last.
Gumba Sal same
Gumba Sal ,rose coied galdses
It was built to work for the price. I imagine motors back then hardly lasted long.
My dad had a four cyl Indian that he bought before WWII. He still had it when we moved to Roswell, NM in the 50s when I was five. I remember riding in back of him on that huge seat around Walker AFB. Gracias. Realmente disfruto restaurando y montando motocicletas antiguas. No tengo ningún interés en ninguna motocicleta moderna. ¡Máquinas tan increíbles hace 100 años!
That engine sounds very happy to me.

Go to the hell u skru cow n bafolu use condom at farm

Glad that the patina was preserved. Sounds perfect. Thanks for sharing this.
Sounds fantastic! Respect
What a treat to see and hear that beautiful machine running! Thanks for sharing.
Of course we still love him. He's Sprout. He is next to me drooling for some pretzels! I'm giving in, can't help it. Thanks for noticing Sprout.

Very finished!! Runs great, original paint remains, forever I hope. The next owner must not put shiny paint on this one!
I honestly think this peace of art should be kept in a motorcycle museum or so , for all the motorcycle lovers world get a chance to see it and appreciate it.
I'm always impressed when something that old starts that easy and runs so good. Very nice!
The Sound for this Time---> Unforgetable. Very Nice
Starts way way way better than an old Harley
Beautiful job and what a lovely sound. GOOD job.

Motor lindo!!!! E o barulho do escape é apaixonante
An aftermarket exhaust made in the 1930s, not the standard from the factory in Chicago, Ill. USA
Appearance wise, I kinda hope it stays/stayed the way it is. It has a fantastic patina to the metal work.
Sounds lovely for such an old bike. No rattles or clouds of smoke..
Wow, that's great! I can't believe there were actually 476 idiots that didn't like this.
its up to 326 idiots now sir, ohhh what a shame.
Superb !!! One of my favourites, really good to see such an original example. Looks like it has an external contracting band brake on the rear wheel. 👍
Beautiful!
What a beautiful bike and easy start .
This is how Motorcycle should sound like- Not like actual 200mph vaccum cleaners
yes, you're right. Those sport bikes that rev to 10 or 12000 rpm do not sound good. That is why i like harleys.
+wdowa94 :D 200mph vaccum cleaners XD
+wdowa94 Just right.
The kind of noise you can imitate without burning your lips off.
+wdowa94 it sounds like an old golf 3 1.2. i mean the engine isnt that much smaller and its a mid-revving i4 engine. in other words: nothing for me. but thats all taste anyway.
You motorboating son of a gun.
Señor tremendo equipo. Me gusta mucho .felicidades. con pasión
Omg its so beautiful *-*
I love how agricultural it is. Super cool bike and a job very well done!
Best thing is it's originality has not been destroyed by the usual restorer nuts.
beautiful peace of motorcycles history, very good restoration job ,thump up.
That's awesome.

It's just too badass...
That bike is really special. It sounds very good I love it.
Sonido espectacular...impresionante

BELLISSIMA!!!!!!
The most impressive thing in this video is the fact that he started that old beast in flip flops ,a testament to his skill and hard work ,I salute you sir .
Thank you, easy to kick, low compression. If tuned correctly, starting is only 1 kick.
Now I understand why modern bikes favour transverse engines.
justcarcrazy Also longitudinal engines on motorcycle make the bike lean under engine braking due to inertia of the crankshaft.
SO cool. When he revs it it even sounds like a truck.
sir, where do you get so many cool bikes ?
Fabulous machine. Congratulations on a highly sympathetic restoration. I've just had my 1975 Moto Guzzi recommissioned after 37 years sitting dormant. It was great to start it for the first time a few weeks ago.
wooww
That engine sound is orgasmic. This is one of the most beautiful bikes I have seen.
What a great bike !!! Even the dog loves it !!

This is one of the coolest things I have ever found on RUclips.
Never thought id see a Kerker 4-1 from the 1920s hahaha i love how this thing sounds. I bet it makes tons of torque.
absolutely beautiful looking and beautifuly sounding.
amazing piece of history.
I can't believe how healthy it sounds, I like the exhaust baffle system, lol, very advanced for the time.
😀 👍 👍 👍 👍
Beautiful machine! Great restoration . . .
I don't know jack about bikes, but every time I see one of these antique bikes and hear them start... I just want to be on one reallly bad. They seem so much more badass than any bikes these days
Thanks. Lots of power and speed. Nicely rebuilt engine with balancing and tight tolerances, shifts nice.
Absolutely superb old bike! Looks like its built like a tank and would do a round europe trip no problem..
My father had a lightplane called the Heath Parasol with this 4cyl Henderson engine. At the time he was editor of the Flying Manual published by the Fawcett Publishing Co. Красота ,звук,великолепно!👍
I love the way it sounds. Open header too.
Congratulations on maintaining a motorcycle at that age in these excellent conditions!
10-15 years of a really great work.. Congratulations!
Oh boy i didn't know such amazing bikes existed its a vintage beauty
I don't know how to ride a motorcycle, but the sound of this majestic piece awesomeness!!
Superb in every way, best preserved as it is, NOT restored. Love 1920s bikes!!!
A beautiful sound, and a beautiful patina.
