    The "Henderson Motorcycle Company" did not build motorcycles beyond 1917, at least not under that name (the Henderson badge continued to be used on the 1918 models). During that year the Henderson brothers sold the company to Ignaz Schwinn, owner of the Excelsior Motor Manufacturing and Supply Company. As such it then became a division of Excelsior. Starting with the 1919 model the Henderson logo was merged with Excelsior's winged red "X". William and Thomas Henderson continued on for a short while as employees of the new company working for Schwinn. In 1919 a disgruntled William Henderson left Excelsior to start the ACE Motorcycle Company which floundered in 1924 after William's death in December of 1922. ACE was subsequently sold to Indian which began building it's version of the 4-cylinder motorcycle in 1927.

      A fantastic machine that windhoff. Very interesting way of cooling. It.is cooled by the engine oil. Gets pumped around and drips down along the inside of the finned enginewalls.

    Vauxhall also produced an inline four motorcycle in about 1922. I think only two were built along with a bunch of frames and ten engines. Frank Halford and Harry Ricardo had something to do with it. In the 90s there was one of them at Ricardo's in Shoreham. Classy looking machine for it's time.

    The displayed Danish Nimbus motorcycle is the model C (1934-1960) and it does not share any bits and bobs with the original Nimbus (1919-1928). About the only thing they have in common is a displacement of 746 ccm - the original with about 10 HP and the model C with a whopping 18/22 HP

    I think Brough Motor Cycle Company of Nottingham England also built an in line 4 cylinder motor cycle around this time too.

    • @pashakdescilly7517
      @pashakdescilly7517 3 года назад +1

      Yes, Brough made a few bikes with the Austin 7 engine. Small numbers of bikes, hardly a production machine. They did start work on a very interesting H four, but made a few prototypes before WW2 got in the way of fun.

    I’m a fan of the Munch Monmouth! I actually put a deposit on one in the showroom in Atlanta Georgia USA. They measured me for the seat and position of the foot rests, foot brake and shifts levers. Sadly they were unable to keep up with business. From the hand formed gas tank to the NSU car engine it was a mechanical masterpiece. Please keep doing your really neat videos! WOW is all I can say!

      @alanfenick1103 2 года назад

      @@dr.jillalicecooper2587 Munch was the Company and the designer a real person who built the bikes may have misspelled the model name after all it was a German dream bike! Macomb Forbes was US importer. The bike was tested and with one cylinder dead it reached 120 mph. It was a four cylinder engine used in the NSU cars. Another dream car made in Germany was the Borg Ward destroyed by politics of MB, BMW and VW. The model I liked (loved) was the Isabella.

    Schöne Maschinen ! die Kühlung der hinteren Zylinder find ich aber noch problematischer als bei H.D.- weshalb wohl irgendwann die Idee der CB 750 einen Durchbruch für 4 Zylinder Reihenmotoren bedeutete
