How has nobody mentioned this drummer? It’s like he and Al keep the harmony of the gods and everything the he throws in is just to show off. It’s impressive
Great recording. This was a substitute show for the 2016 Levitation fest that was cancelled due to bad weather. Sleep played a facemelting gig at Mohawk and then another equally melting of faces the very next morning for all those who couldn't make it the night before.
The Mohawk has one of the best PA systems I’ve ever played through. They did it right when setting it up. It’s really not a hard concept but some live music venues will spend massive cash on decorations and computerized smart toilets but the PA system is all Behringer speakers and an old Peavy mixer. Makes no fucking sense.
@@mr.hedgehog420 Peavey made one great console. The RQ 4324C. Prohibitively expensive. The rest of their lines had cheap pre’s and op amps that easily distorted. The mid sweeps did very little and anything under 80hz sounded like a couch fart. Good enough for a band practice or house party. Not for FOH at a venue. You guys aren’t remembering right, unless you’re just used to shitty sound.
Every time they turn the camera sideways I take a bong toke. I sure hope they were snapping stills when doing that. If not then they were more stoned than me.
Can anyone make these 3 videos into a bootleg vinyl or cd!! The audio is incredible and it was my first SLEEP show. Front row. I was drunk and deaf before 11am
I don’t think the quality would be anywhere near good enough for a vinyl or probably even cd. I recorded it with my iPhone, so there’s no high quality audio source.
I don't know who the drummer is, but he is definitely good, BUT Haikius in the early mid 90's was just one of a kind...pounded the shit out of the kit.
Yeah man, Jason Roeder, geez thanks for pointing that out I had no idea, fuck he's stomping hard and thick just bad ass to the bone, right punch to the guts.
Sleep has to be one of the most strangest or singular bands: a christian-hunduism-religious-whatever the fuck- long beard bass player. A sort of Lemmy Kilimister playing the guitar and a hipster guy on the drums playing stoner rock. Awesome.
DobrePytanie they all work saw SLEEP live and it was so heavy I actually couldn't breath at one point the frequency made my lungs stop. no fucking joke
Peter Gašperan They were supposed to play Levitation Festival that day, but it was cancelled a day before it began. They quickly announced this show in place of the festival appearance.
I love how Sleep says they are unorthodox Christians. All the anti Christian followers of doom metal have to zip it on that one. I mean what are you gonna say, that Sleep is soft or they suck? Nope! 😂
tom dick yessir, watch enough interviews with Matt and Al and you'll hear both talk about God and say they are unorthodox Christians. Makes me love them even more.
wtf, the bass sound is insane
Al Cisneros baby
HyperZ's CNC & Gaming *gandolf
I was their front row. First sleep show
Hey doomguy
Doomslayer*
Al's bass literally sounds more like claps of thunder sounding with harmony and rhythm than an actual musical instrument.
Cisneros even picks like geezer he's a real sabbath fan
yeah but in an interview he said only the first four volumes.
Al's a real Geezer fan.
Alejandro Cantu I’ve always said Sleep and Electric Wizard are the most Black Sabbath sounding band that isn’t Black Sabbath
@@nastylittlecritter Orchid. Listen to their song Black Funeral
He's also a very fan of aston barret and john entwistle, they all play right there on the 12th fret like geezr
@@guidofontana1686 entwhistle was fucking amazing.
10:08 man was saved by his future self from ruining the show
The irony of seeing a straightedge crossed hand at a sleep show
Those are those who are under 21. Common for clubs in Tx.
Most places that have alcohol being sold in them will mark your hands if you're under 21 so that you can still get in and see a show.
dragonaut is awesome here, and al cisneros is at his best, thanks for uploading
exactly, finally semi-screaming instead of sounding like if he'd taken a big hit and tried to sing at the same time
Well I mean, he probably did take a big hit before he started singing, so yknow.
Lol well it was early in the morning probably like 10 am-11 lol we had breakfast tacos
putting down Al's work like it's finally up to your standards is sacriledge @@Marol2137

0:52 is superb, both kicking in the distortion, excellent song.
No worries. Parts 2 & 3 will be up tomorrow once I'm home from Austin.
+pattykrypto You rule.
Whatever happened to part 2?

This is Austin's best venue. The sound there is always excellent
That Bass sounds superb!
There's a Straight Edge kid on the crowd, he left the concert being a Rasta

Im really happy to see Matt more healthier, long live Sleep!

10:09 a professional guard
He handled that kid in the most Sleep kind of way.
Kid's lucky he wasn't trying to rush the stage at a Tool show.
I love how the stage is bassically [💀] a hole in the ground. Bet you could still hear them for miles!
This kind of music relaxes me for some strange reason
My favorite Sleep live video
Thanks for recording this for all us saps that found out after the show was sold out.
This is one of the best versions of Antarctican's there is.
Dude this venue is so cool, like the way it's set up. Gotta see a show there one day
