The Oregon Trunk (& companion Gateway Sub) are two fabulous pieces of railroad and your videos of them really shine!
Thanks so much Tom! I am fascinated by both and feel like I finally have some quality material of them both from over the years which is a big accomplishment.
I am always excited when I see you post a new video, especially in the mountains. Another wonderful job!
Well thanks so much Scott! There will be a new one Saturday morning!
Beautiful !
I always love the bird's eye views :)
Dan.. wow!! I hope you received a standing-ovation as your work is superb.
Thanks so much Mike! I think they enjoyed it pretty well!
These scenes NEVER get old! Glad your talent being recognized by many. If you’re looking for something to do in your spare time I suggest you open a drone pilot’s school.
Thanks so much Bill! Ha that is a high compliment so thank you BUT doing these videos is 100% all my spare time!
Another amazing video...thanks for posting!👍
Thanks a lot!
Congratulations on being Honored! You deserve it. I'm captivated by the Drone footage. As a Drone pilot I can only marvel at the skills you have acquired. You present these trains with such a great eye to providing the sense of Scale and grace. Simply awesome! Can't wait to see more.
Thanks so much Steve! Many many hundreds of hours flying to be where I am today in skill level but it also helps that DJI drones are so easy to fly and also change flight settings to help with smooth movements. I'm so glad you're enjoying!
I have said it before and will say it again - you turn the ordinary into a work of art!! I only hope the Winterail audience realized your skill and talent and recognized you appropriately.
My wish for you is that someone from the BNSF organization sees this and sends it up the ladder to the "C-Suite" for recognition. The quality of this presentation belongs on the screen in the board room during a meeting so everyone can better understand the "true grit" of daily operations of railroading. It is of that high a quality level to be shown there!!
Great job, be very proud of your work!!
Thanks so much Charles I'm humbled you think so! I think they enjoyed it pretty well. That sure would be a dream come true to have one of the railroads themselves purchase some of my content.
Incredible beautiful!!! Applause from Germany !
Thanks so very much from across the pond!
Nobody does it better, Dan, kudos yet again !
Thanks so much James you're too kind!
I'm delighted your work is getting it's due recognition! It's always a treat when I see a new video from Railfan Dan.
Thanks so much I'm glad you are enjoying!
Dan, even having watched this last weekend, it's a joy to watch again and again. I got a laugh watching the clip of 4449 crossing the Madras bridge with the Amtrak engine crew visibly enjoying the ride. Thanks for posting this!
Thanks a lot Lou I'm humbled you took time to watch it again! Ha yeah one of the guys in the Amtrak unit on that run was having a really good time the whole way. I remember that.
Excellent photography! Very well done.
Dan, that is a beautiful presentation. I live in Nebraska , so we don't have quite that kind of scenery and I enjoy seeing your presentations. I watch the videos partly as a railfan and partly as a model builder. Your videos show some delightful bridges, trestles, cuts, tunnels, and such. Some very inspiring structures, plus you present some nice footage showing the approach routes to the bridges. It's often easier to model a bridge than to depict how the tracks get on and off said bridge. Thank you for your fine videos. I'll stay tuned for more!
Thanks so much Gary! That is great I'm glad I can be a good reference for modeling! I actually get comments like that a decent bit which is a great bonus that my content can provide!
Dan, what a great show. Hope you won some prize.
Some more wonderful views for modelling. Thanks. Tom
Very nice video Oregon is such a beautiful state this video helps me relax 😊
Always amazing, what an education, what an experience, can't you enough!
Thanks so much!
Amazing video!!! Fantastic job Dan.
Wow, excellent job Dan. I frequently visit many of those places. Need to go back. Theres more to see! I was pleasantly surprised to see those drive arms pumping away on 4449., thanks!
Thanks so much Jeff!
This is an amazing compilation video. The locations are breathtaking from start to finish. The different seasons adds a lot to the experience. The orange pumpkins stands out from the snow covered landscape. I guess the Amtrak engine is only there for backup if something happens with the steam locomotive. By the way that particular train was a fantastic catch. I'm sure the guests really enjoyed your video, no wonder they applauded it at the end. Excellent job as always Dan.
Thanks so much Z I'm glad you enjoyed! I had a lot of fun putting this together and playing with the different seasons. The Amtrak engine provides power for all the cars being towed and yes backup as well. That 4449 trip was back in 2017 and I hadn't even been flying for a year. It is very special because we may never see it run the mainline again.
Outstanding work as always Dan! One of the best channels on here by far.
Thanks so much Brad you're too kind! I am glad I can share with all of you.
Applause! Applause! Most definitely! That was a magnificent show. Your videography is always top notch. Watching, it made me wonder; what if Amtrak had a Seattle to LA train that was routed along the Columbia River east of Vancouver, down the Oregon Trunk to Klamath, down the Gateway to Keddie and the Feather River Canyon. From Oroville to Sacto, down to Bakersfield and over Tehachapi, a run through the high desert to Barstow (or maybe skip Barstow and stop in Victorville instead), and then over and down Cajon to LA. I'd ride that train in every season more than once!
Thanks a lot Jeff! Oh man I am right there with you. I would ride that in a heartbeat and give chase another time! Once upon a time the Coast Starlight used to detour both lines when the UP lines would be shut down. Those days are over sadly and I'm real bummed I missed that era.
@@TheRailfanDan Since Amtrak seems so amped on adding new routes, they would be wise to at least test market that route. People ride trains for the views.
Thank you Dan for another excellent video with both great shots and edits!
Thanks very much Bruce!
Stunning Seinery ❤ It 😊
Thanks so much!
Wonderful scenery, Dan, and awesome editing..
Thanks a lot Steve!
@railfandan , have you heard that Big Boy 4014 is gonna be thundering through the feather river canyon in July?!?! I pray you can get footage of this epic event!!
Yes I am planning to be there!
@@TheRailfanDan I figured you already knew but wanted to make sure cuz it’s never safe to assume. I’m staying in the canyon for work and will post up around Rich Bar when she comes through.
Masterful as always. You shoot some of the best footage.
Well thank you very much!
Just found your channel Dan. Outstanding!!
Thanks so much Ethan I'm glad you found it and I hope you enjoy more!
One of my favorite things to do is spot you while your droning.
Epic, as always. Thanks Dan
Thank you Scott!
Beautiful presentation of trains and scenery on the BNSF Oregon Trunk line, Dan! Your editing of the various scenes in this video was excellent. The drone footage was excellent. I was not aware that the Oregon Trunk was part of the Portland, Spokane & Seattle Railway, Dan, until you mentioned it the line was completed by the SP&S at the beginning of the video. I do not remember hearing or seeing a mention of the builder of the Oregon Trunk in any of your prior videos on this line.
Thanks so much Thomas! That is right I don't think I ever have mentioned it was the SP&S. They actually didn't begin building it but they finished it. The SP&S completed the portion from Wishram to Bend and the Great Northern built the section from Bend to Chemult OR. The GN also built South from Klamath Falls OR to Bieber CA where they met with the Western Pacific who built from Keddie to Bieber.
Very nice video. I wish I had known about the event in Corvallis. I would have driven over to watch this on the big screen! 😊
I hope to present again someday! Many of the other shows are great as well.
My home town, my high school (class of 1958). I'll make a special Winterail return to Corvallis
next March.
Awesome work Dan !!
Thank you thank you!
Well done Dan!
Thanks a lot Doug!
Good Show! Dan!
Thank you Ron!
Great video your friend Lou Thelen told me about your video, huge thumbs up, liked, and subbed.
Ah yes Lou is great and I'm glad he mentioned it! Thanks a lot and I do hope you will enjoy more!
I think this route used to be not much used but once BNSF was allowed the use of the UP Feather River Route from the Keddie Wye all the way into Sacramento, CA, the route has seen a lot more use.
Hi Dan, just want to say thank you. I've been going through some bad depression and while I'm waiting for my meds to kick in your videos have been a big help. Great job, I'm a life long Oregonian living ing been and so love the effort you put in to your videos. And one question, is someone in the trailing engines? Thank you Dan and Skippy.
Already replied to your other comment but again I'm really glad these could be of help to you! That is humbling. On these trains the rear units are computer controlled.
Stunning, as per usual, RailFan Dan,. Congratulations. Does anybody know where to go to find out about these special passengers trains and how to get one one?
Thanks so much! Usually no the officer special trains ran by the freight railroads themselves are not any kind of public information. I only happen to know people who work for the railroads who let me know about them in advance.
How Do Those Gorge Bridges 😊
The Gateway Sub is my favorite. Brings back so many memories of our road trips over the years. Too bad you couldn't include the Lava beds though. I'm guessing that's a different sub?
It is the same Subdivision you're correct. This presentation was just focused on the line between Bend and Wishram due to time constraints. Even then it's a bit more faced paced than I would have liked.
Like 1️⃣🔝➡️👏🏼
What equipment do you use when recording off-camera narration?
A pretty basic USB recording PC mic. A not very expensive one from Amazon.
@@TheRailfanDan Okay, Thanks man!
Perfusionist
Totally agree we need to get Dan to explore Crawford hill, Alliance, anthe coal mines of Wyoming
I really want to hit the Orin Sub someday but no idea when that will be. That would have to be a week long trip.
That was supposed to have said Bend
Do you have a patreon? Would love to support your work!
Well thank you so much! I do not unfortunately but I have had this question quite a bit recently so maybe it's time to change that. If you really wanted to you could donate through a Super Thanks towards the channel on here. 🙂
I would like to Build a Home 🏡 On That One Peak 😊
I was there are 3:25 but a little bit too far to the right to be in your video.
Dan…. your work is so very good, compared to so many others on RUclips, greatly enhanced by your excellent drone flying. You should have a lot more than 21k subscribers
Thanks a lot Dave I'm humbled you think so! Well ever since I started voice narration my channel is definitely growing at a faster rate which I'm very pleased about!
