Maitreya ( Future Buddha) resonates with the Second coming of Jesus, himself a Bodhisattva (Buddha to be) with one final human birth before becoming Fully Enlightened.
By the time he arrives the current teaching of the Buddha Gotama would have long run its course... in the gap, the silent ones will then arise... at the darkest moment of humanity, Meitreya aka metta will arise. Nor should you want to, with effort you can still glean what you need from the dispensation of the last buddha. And next Lord Buddha or Maitreya Buddha is going to be born in Sri Lanka, unlike most of past Buddha's who were born in & around Lumbini, Nepal. The reason to be born in Lanka is he did most of his soul work in Lanka in past lives.
And Sri Lanka is & has been the country to carry Buddhism for future after every Buddha (there's been roughly 550,000 Buddha's in this world/Earth) passed away/got enlightened, & it is a fact, & current Buddha (Gautama Buddha) himself said that in his sermons that Sri Lanka would the country that take Buddhism for future generations. The name Meitreya is just the word love... so the actual name might be metta... also, this current world we are living in is prophesied to have 5 ages. Buddha Gotama was the 4th Buddha. As the second coming of Christ, every religion has some sort of prophecy regarding the next one. To me Buddhism is essentially a self work thing, and hoping for something in the future could in a way hinder out progress regarding NOW. If we all have buddha nature, than we all have potential to be the buddhas and as Siddhartha before us and possible Maitreya in the future and we can do is follow the 8 fold path and understand the 4 noble truths.

Though Maitreya is not coming to end the world, I think I know why some would misunderstand it. He is the Last Buddha to come to earth in this eon before the world comes to an end. But that happens a long time (several hundred generations) after his arrival. Afterwards beings have to wait until the universe ends and re-formed (reset) before seeing another Buddha again. The universe as we know it is just one of many generations. The universe also goes through a cycle of death and rebirth.

Why would people or buddhism preaches coming of meiteya, causing people to seek out for him (outside of our own)?
Gauthama buddha who preached dhamma is the buddha we worship today. Since we have the teachings of buddha dhamma alive in present we should learn from ot now. BUT the thing is after thousands of years this teachings will be forgotten in time. Thats why another lord buddha comes to teach the way to nibbhana to the humans and all beings living in future. He is born as a normal human being, but he meditates and understand th universe and teach dhamma again.

With people to start looking or presenting for meiteya - mind object, now or in future (as mention in the video "superstar" , causing confusion as we had anticipation of whom, where and when will it be, which is not the core of the teaching. Of course one could say we shouldn't and be focusing on our practice, but one could see maiteya as anyone as well. Be it sadhguru or anyone people believe in. We should be an island to ourself.
I feel meiteya is the concept of Christianity. Cater for the needs for savior or some sort.

@@Billa792 The yuga system as a whole is first depicted in the Surya Siddhanta which is much older than the existing Vedas. The first description of Kaliyuga is in the 3rd book of the Mahabharata and in several Puranas.

5. Must give his life if needs
6. Must pray meeting one of the Senior Buddhas

Hmmm. I never knew Buddhism had a messiah? Also, I thought Buddhism focused on internal wisdom and not a ‘savior’? In this respect, Buddhism is looking more like Judaism and Christianity only with a focus on kindness and compassion. I personally think Buddhism provides all the tools we need to be ‘enlightened’ now. Why the focus on some future supreme being?
Dont get confused. The teachings of the gauthama buddha: the buddha we worship today, will slowly fade away in time. And people will forget tha buddhas teachings. So after thousands of years maithreya buddha will come and start to teach everyone the path to nibbhana again, so humans and gods can again learn what had been forgotten.
It is wide. We can focus on Nibbana if we would like to know about Nibbana.
Nibbana is the best to focus on.
We must take meditation, watching that arises and ceases.
Need to meet good meditation teacher at meditation center.
With alone, a little bit difficult to concentrate.
You must focus on breathing first. You must know oxygen is entering your nose. You must know one start point of oxygen (air). If you can focus on it long time(hours), your mind will stay on the air object. My stage is there. After that, the mind will be happy because of calmness. After that, you will feel bliss and one pointedness of mind. If you want to attain Nibbana, you have to dedicate mind, mental factors and aggregates in that stage, you will know what Nibbana is. I hope spiritual beings who have attained Nibbana will take care you to know Nibbana smoothly.

He has already come and like the scriptures stated our fallen world and those spiritually asleep crucified Him. Has one brother and one sister
Entered trance state while in meditation in my early 20's.
I had stigmata in my hands in 2006
Jaw like a lion (I have a unique jaw line)
Webbed toes (two of my toes are webbed)
The emergence of 40 sages (I have made contact with sasquatch, some are sages)
I wrote 5 treatises (stories)
I'm left handed and often sit with my left foot forward
I have a curl to my hair (when its long)
I have a unibrow (but I pluck my eyebrows)
I don't know what to make of it, there are quite a few similarities, pretty wild. Am i an avatar? Haha probably not, what a can of worms!
Maitreya always failed in school and kalki passed the test. Maitreya doesnt know how to use brahmastra and sudarsan chakra but kalki knows. Is kalki the maitreya? Very confusing and who can be so certain about reality until it happens so.
Kalki is a false diety just like Parashuram - a wet dream of failed brahmins.Vishnu was cursed so many times in hindu texts- so many times.
Maithreya buddha comes after kalki.

Why do you assume Maitreya will be male? Buddha does not seem to indicate a gender.

The infinitude of every buddha of the past, this present, and another infinity of buddhas must be man with no exceptions.
Once a man gets prophesied to become a buddha by a senior buddha, he will circle his samsara with a man's life to the end of samsara, that is becoming a buddha.
One must be in a manhood to even receive this prophesy, as a fundamental requirement. If still in doubt, try reading the buddha's past lives.
In other words, yes. Manhood is critical for attaining Buddhahood.

Maithreya buddha comes after kalki. Like tens of thousands of years after kalki. We cant say the two are same or that they are false. They are true. But the two are two different entities.

Christianity, Judaism, and Islam all have their future prophet set to return, why not Buddhism as well. As long as people cling to religion or something other than themselves, they will be stuck, destined to ride the wheel of samsara. We are all Buddhas! Every single one of us; we have just forgotten it is so.

The word "Buddha" means "one who eradicated bhawa", 'Bhawa' means the reason ,or reasons of birth and rebirth in samsara. So the person who eradicates the greed, lust, anger and the complex nature of "bhawa", one becomes a buddha.
U know there are three types of Buddha. Buddha :who is our Gauthama Buddha , and in future maithreya buddha. Then Pachcheka buddha who is a buddha but he dont have deciples like the buddha we worship today. The other one in Arahath buddha who are the monks and other higher enetities who attained nibbana.
So in simple terms, we all can attain nibbana, and Thats why we can be buddhas but still we are not. But we can be.
