James Robbins and Ian Gordon are on the River Thurso in the far northeast corner of Scotland in pursuit of salmon. With the river in peak condition, the guys are confident of a fish or two, as the duo meander down the river, they offer some top advice for salmon fishing.

Really enjoying these instructional additions to the Cadence videos. Ian has a great way of making casting look easy.
Beautifully filmed by Chappy.
Glad to hear your enjoying. The casting part is so much fun as are the making of those videos. More coming soon.
great video ian, your knowledge and casting skills are second to none, i have been trout fishing for 40 years but this season i am new to salmon fishing and the bit about the slow lift off was a great bit of advice, fabulous stuff guys
Thanks john, the slow lift and understanding “why” it’s so important is key to consistency in any Spey cast. More to come in future videos. Many thanks again for your kind comment.
excellent video Cadence Fishing UK. I crushed that thumbs up on your video. Continue to keep up the solid work.
That lab in a good smack aside the head! Good fishing
ooops i commented on the wrong video, i was watching james and ian 'spring fishing on the spey', great video 👍
Great stuff, beautiful looking river in stunning surroundings, great fish also, poor old Monty trying to pull you in lol.
I really enjoyed that. Not least because I'll be fishing in Caithness in a couple of days, but Ian is a great addition to your team.
I've watched a lot of the Cadence coarse fishing videos too and they are all excellent. I knew James was an excellent coarse angler but didn't realise he was an all rounder like myself.
I'm sure the fly fishing gear will do well.
Yes, James just loves catching fish! Ian is a great asset for sure, and we'll be after rainbows, brownies and grayling as the year unfolds all over the country. Thanks for your kind words sir and there's a lovely coarse video going live this coming Friday. 👍
Another great video guys, thank you. Have had the Thurso on my bucket list for years but access seems almost impossible.
Couldn't agree more on the left hand winding issue, mine is solely for changing gears, indicating and occasionally picking my nose when no buggers watching 😂
Absolutely brilliant video. Fished fae I was 8 on the fly but only my second season for salmon. I done the nc500 with my wife an kid last week and stopped at the halladale and Naver estuaries on the way past and managed to get snapped at the halladale 🤦🏻♂️ was a grilse but I made the mistake of treating it like a trout. Travelled from Ayr and fell in love with the place
Hi James , Ian . Really hope you guys make a success of these rods and a wider range . Long overdue for someone of james's pedigree to link up with Ian .
Hi Jamie, it's Chappy. Yes James and Ian have come up with a unique spin on the salmon rods. We're keen to let the world know so to speak, but stock is late due to the world situation unfortunately. But stand by for something good soon 👍🙂
Many thanks Jamie. Much appreciated. The feedback we’re getting on the river bank is really great so I’m sure all will be good.
Beautiful desolate landscape, great vid.
Top job boys #awesome... taut not tight lol.
After watching I can't wait to get out.just a bit early for my wee river yet🤨
Enjoy sir👍
There will be even less salmon going around if the dogs get a hold of them!!😆nice river nice video
Nice one James, what a great bit of water and a great fish. I have to ask though, in the opening scenes how come Monty was over that stile before you :)
He had nipped through a gap in the fence ...!
Watching a master. Slainte 🥃
Ian are you also a wing shooter beautiful spaniels you have
What a nightmare taking dog out😆
I kmow a good Labrador trainer 😈
I dont like it at all, i prefer my hook flies in a loop for a lot more movement in the water but fortunately personal preference is a thing and each one need to do what suits him/her best:)
