Jason Miller is also the father of Joshua Miller, who starred in "Near Dark" and "River's Edge". Joshua co-wrote the slasher spoof "The Final Girls" as a tribute to his dad.
Good catch! He really chewed up the scenery in that movie. But he did steal every scene he was in. Not fer nuthin,' but he was the best mayor Detroit has ever had, in fiction or reality.
Come on, we all know those "you can't use THAT and THIS word, I am an Army Man, I Know" is just a kid's hissy fit. They are just desperately trying to keep little things from their past in civilian life, being frightened to find out all their rituals are meaningless for everyone outside the army.
I didn't know Tim Robbins had to break out of a goofy drunk stereotype. I don't think I ever saw him in anything before Shawshank, so as far as I knew, he's always been good. I feel like my whole life is a lie now.
A lot of actors start out doing movies and TV shows without being noticed. Harrison Ford started out in bit parts and even as an extra in movies. I heard that Robert De Niro started doing "Troma" movies, the same people who brought us Toxic Avenger and such.
i remember watching a Slasher film that used a bunch of day for night footage . It was obvious that it was day for night. You could see girls sunbathing out in front of one of the buildings when it suppose to be the middle of the night.
I used to work with a dude who knew Tracy Scoggins growing up. He would tell funny stories about them in high school. Finally got to meet her at a convention and yeah, she confirmed they were besties back in the day. She was SUPER nice and even gave me a free autograph.
I actually have seen this, a long time ago. You’re right ...it’s wacky & all over the place, but weirdly somehow watchable. Hell Tracy Scoggins was in this , she could have used her connections & called in the A- Team.
I never heard of this movie, LOL the Mortis joke was perfect! Man the level of stupid in this movie is pretty high. Thanks Cecil this was another winner video!
The 'mortis' but comes from a game called Faith by New Blood interactive, and tickled me even before it clicked that the guy was from The Exorcist. Cecil cuts deep with his references and using the Faith bit was a top choice.
Say what you will about Robbins, but Jacob's Ladder is one of my all-time favorite flicks. Has been in my top five since the first I saw it twenty-two years ago.
It's kind of weird to see a serious actor like Jason Miller in a film like this. It's sad that his roll in Exorcist 3 was cut down because by that time he'd suffered from "Wet Brain" do to extreme alcoholism and couldn't remember his lines. RIP.
So, I'm not the only one who remembers this. Dad had it on VHS that he taped off of Cinemax, and I've tried to find it, only to keep coming across the 1991 one. Now that I have a year, 1984, was able to find it online. Thank you so very much for the help.
I never ever herd of this film I grew up with the 1991 "Toy Soldiers" film which to me is the better film compared to this one at least to me Cecil. I look forward to see you do a "Exploring" episode on that film someday? Awesome job as always!
It's one of the more competent yet oddly overlooked "Die Hard" ripoffs, because the hostages/protagonists are teenagers and they're not as docile as they look.
This title kinda sounds like a spin off of the movie Small Soldiers lol For a low budget film, its surprising to see some familiar faces here! I love it! For the heck of it, I think I'll give this one a watch! I mean, you can't ignore a film that has a rocket launcher that has a fart noise sound effect lol
...I can't be the only one who saw the title and thought this was going to be some cheesy action movie about pint-sized soldiers, right? *_I was so very wrong._*
Wow, I thought it the Louis Gossett Jr. one. I had no IDEA this existed, but man! This is some God awful looking 80's crapola! I gotta ask though, what was that Mortis video game clip from?
In addition to his great acting roles, Jason Miller won a Pulitzer Prize for Drama, a Tony Award for Best Play, and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
It's funny how a lot of famous American actors had their careers start in less 'mainstream' stuff. Young Tim Robbins probably got typecast a lot due to his height and lanky build. Then again, Kurt Russell started his career as a Disney kid actor so you can never tell where a young actor's career will turn.
One of my favorites, is Shawn Levy, who played Jimbo in Zombie Nightmare...then went on to produce & direct Stranger Things, and direct a ton of big studio flicks, including Free Guy.
Come on man, the Double take of the farting rocket launcher! Thanks for the laughs. And I bet you my miss having someone getting thrown out of the window.
I posted the main song "It Couldn't Be Better" by Alan Graham on my channel awhile back. You can view it here: ruclips.net/video/Q5VrQroQ6xc/видео.html
Looks like Tim Robbins expected his frustrated fist to impact something/someone as punctuation on that "Damn" but it wasn't where he thought and that's the take they used...maybe even the only one they had considering the budget.
I still remember to this day two things from the Sean Astin one. That sweet fuse they made out of the cigarette and matchbook and how he hid the fact he was wet from escaping and late to the count by stripping and getting a towel to act like he was in the shower. Oh, also Wesley getting killed because he underestimated the recoil of a fully automatic machine gun.
For a second I thought this was going to be about Small Soldiers.
Nope, Small Soliders
Man I'd love to see him cover Small Soldiers. That was such a big part of my childhood
Glad I'm not the only one.
Same
would be a better one to review imo
“Step by step, heart to heart, brick by brick… it aaaaall falls doooown, like toy soldiers.”
I also immediately thought of T'Pau
Jason Miller is also the father of Joshua Miller, who starred in "Near Dark" and "River's Edge". Joshua co-wrote the slasher spoof "The Final Girls" as a tribute to his dad.
So there were two famous actors in this movie.
Pronounce it wrong and i wouldnt wanna be you!!!
Also Jason Patric father
@@welcometothemovies9157 Cecil already mentioned that in the video.
Another masterpiece snubbed by the academy
the power of bandanas
Exspecially the farts
I like how you say kids when not a single one of them looks younger than 30.
Those were real 80s teens. Coke, barbs, and tanning just made everyone look 30 by the time they were 21. Lol.
5:31 You know him as Deter from Traxx. I know him as Mayor Cusack from Robocop 2. 😁😁😁😁😁😁
Good catch!
He really chewed up the scenery in that movie. But he did steal every scene he was in.
Not fer nuthin,' but he was the best mayor Detroit has ever had, in fiction or reality.
Same here!
...and Harpo in The Color Purple.
Fun fact: Toy Soldiers is actually a spinoff of Shawshank Redemption. It's what Andy was doing in Mexico while he waited for Red.
Or the prequel to Jacob's Ladder.
All three of these films are now my head cannon for a film that was to be made in The Player!
Usually if someone is called an ex-marine that implies they were dishonorably discharged.

That Sheriff lobo simpson reference got me laughing hard, good work man

Appreciate everything you do!
Gotta love these bizarre 80s flicks. Funny video, as always.
I wanted Sean Astin and stayed for the Tim Robbins.
SAME!!
I stayed for Father Damien Karras.. And that black dude from Blazing Saddles..
“Not to be confused with small soldiers”

It's always refreshing to see where academy award winning actors start out. 😃 🍻
This also has critically acclaimed Mexican Actors….. ironic

"why does Wiener slap her ass? " well, wouldn't you? I think that was the actor taking some liberties tbh XD
He seems so hesitant, I was thinking that too
I would. 🙋
now he can forever say he's slapped that ass, and nobody could say he didn't when he had the chance.
