A lot of people in Jacksonville are praising Doug Peterson. They’re not blaming Doug Peterson at all the issue with Trevor Lawrence is this he has not had a great o line since he’s been in Jacksonville, that’s a fact that’s the big reason why his play went downhill in the second half he got hurt the bottom line is this if they build a better line in front of him you will get better production from Trevor Lawrence 💯💯💯💯
I'd say this about Trevor Lawrence:
1. He's improved the expectations of his team, especially after getting a new coach
2. He has not even come close to living up to the "generational talent" hype that he was drafted as
As of right now, therefore, I would say he's not elite/SB-caliber quality

All that really needs to be said about the whole Trevr Lawrence thing is that objectively speaking since the Jaguars got rid of Gardner Minshew and drafted Trevor Lawrence, Minshew;'s career statistics are actually better than Lawrence across the board. He has a higher career win%, more yards per start, more TDs per start, far fewer turnovers per start, higher yards per attempt, a higher rating, higher career QBR... basically every stat. The only stat that favors Lawrence is sack rate. And all that for the low price of the #1 overall pick and now 275 million dollars. Go Jaguars!....

Julian you forgot one other Superbowl asset. Excellent defense. Chicago Bears had one of the most dominant defenses of all time. Offense was ok. QB was ok. The defense took them all the way. How many Superbowls would Brady have with an average defense? We saw what happened against the Eagles.
You are spot on on the other factors surrounding Trevor. How many great draft picks had their careers destroyed being drafted high by bad, dysfunctional team? How many do good in spite of being on a bad team? Not many. How many championships did Houston have with Watson at QB? Top 5 QB, right?
In terms of Purdy. Yeah, pedigree is pedestrian. But so was Tom Brady. They tried to retire him prior to his last years of Superbowl runs. Why? Strongest are? No. Great runner? No. Top physical metrics at the position? No. Would you take Brady at the same age as Trevor or would you go with Trevor's pedigree? Purdy may become a Brady-esque type player. So may Trevor but has done far less with a much better pedigree. Is it his fault? Not all, but not none.
Going into 2023, who would you say had the better team, Houston or Jacksonville?
Excellent points, and well stated. He’s got everything you need in a QB, which just proves everyone needs something else around them. Brady at this point had a Top 5 defense every year and the best defensive mind in NFL history, Mahomes has Reid (and this year Spags finally got “his” defense), and Lamar has great defenses. Trevor had a mulligan year and a head coach that’s trying to rebuild a franchise that’s been trying to move to London since purchase.

If you honestly believe that Trevor Lawrence can go in and do a brock Purdy does with the 49ers you are delusional you could see it with Trevor Lawrence at college. He has no anticipation and no timing. He relies on his arm strength only that’s all he relies on is his arm straight. He doesn’t have a mental acuity like Brock. He does not anticipate and he does not do timing with his receivers, it’s purely arm talent is the only thing and when it comes to scramble like ability Purdy is still the better QB.

Josh allen sat for 2 games behind Nathan peterman.- did anyone watch bills games in 2018 no they didn't get a national TV game until nov 2019 and that was because they were facing the cowboys 😂😂. The bills o-line was horrible in allen rookie year. Allen missed like 5 games. So this horrible rookie year is really getting annoying. Peterson outcoached BB in the SB. Trevor is good. Not as great as he was advertised. He was hailed as a great prospect like Luck and hasn’t been as impressive as Luck was or even the best QB in his own division with CJ stroud in Houston.
People quickly forget the jaguars were 8-3 before Lawrence got that bad high ankle sprain. Then he played the next week and got a concussion. Injuries hurt them at the end of the year last year.

Ive watched a lot of Jags games, and unfortunately Trevor is average/slightly good at-best. He makes bad decisions and turnovers cost them many games. Gets a long leash because of his college hype.

All QBs are only as good as the team. People point out that Purdy is no good without his supporting cast just as people try to say Trevor is a great QB despite not playing like it or having as good of a team. It’s all just speculation and bias.

I think Lawrence did have the receivers last year I mean yea they aren't elite receivers but their good enough. When the Eagles won under Doug Pederson we didn't have elite receivers. I don't think any of our receivers were even pro bowlers that year besides Ertz. Now Pederson i still have my questions. I still think Trevor has the talent to do it. What people who have never watched every single snap as I have don't realized is his numbers don't tell the whole story. Calvin Ridley just wasn't good, Kirk got hurt and out for the season, Zay Jones hurt, Trevor had 4 major injuries and a horrible o-line. Plus Jags have been traditional 3 to 5 win team season after season after season. The last 2 season. Trevor has taken an irrelevant losing franchise to back to back 9-8 winning seasons with a playoff win and taking Chiefs down to the wire the next game. And that is b/c of #16.
If Jags cut Trevor right now 23/24 teams would break their neck running to their phone to call his agent. And besides, what’s the alternative? What QB tree is growing an QB with a high ceiling who has shown he can win in this league. These aren't opinions, just facts.
No one is saying that Trevor is a qb between 20-32 the argument is that he is not as good as people have said he is there were plenty of people that were saying he was going to lead this team to a Super Bowl with mediocre talent around him. He’s only won one playoff game in his entire time being in the NFL currently, and to act like he’s been on the worst team in the league is just asinine, especially when you consider the fact that he is in arguably the weakest division in football so there’s no excuse why he shouldn’t have been doing better
