- Video provides step by step installation, tips and tools needed to change stock blade idler pulleys with commercial grade pulleys. Includes how to change blade timing belt and correct blade positioning. Stock idler pulleys break and cause damage to the mower. These are thin, stamped steal pulleys that Toro should not be using. New mowers should have these pulleys replaced with the commercial pulleys. Video instructions work for both TimeMaster and TurfMaster mowers. Paid $205 for the pulley kit.
Nice job. I didn't get seasick, but I thought you described what it takes very well. My mower is only a year old, but I suppose I should just go ahead and purchase the kit and plan on making the change over in the next year or two. Else, if I decide to wait, at least I will have the kit and be prepared for when it does happen to me. Thanks!
Great detail video for this important upgrade.
Hello from Australia. Great video I appreciate it a lot mate. Cheers! 👍
Thanks so much for the videos. Just got a Timemaster and your videos really helped me decide to purchase since I was really concerned about maintenance. I’m not a pro, but the first mow was awesome. Cutting Florida grass, Bermuda and st Augustine, and lots of pine cones. Happy upcoming Spring!
Thanks for the technical upgrade video.
The kit of pulleys and related hardware is 128-7890. Currently (February 2023) sells for around $150 and it contains pulley hardware only. I have replaced these on my 2012 TimeMaster with OEM pulleys only once for around $50/pair. You have to decide if it is worth three times the price to have this part outlast the spindles, belts, blades, adapters, and a host of other parts my TimeMaster has needed over the years..
Love this mower, thanks for the video.
Love this channel, just found you today, great work.
Thanks!
I think I’m going to start with a time master for my business seems to be holding up great for ya! Turf master X series and Emark seem really expensive compared to the time master
Yes, TurfMaster much more expensive and use the same pulleys and belts.
Great video thank you so much. Do you have the link or the description to that kit? I also wanna replace all the belts and my spark plug.
We appreciate the video, however, several timemaster owners have asked about where you sourced this "kit" from and all you say is eBay. Do you have a link or more specifics about this? BTW, I bought a Timemaster 6 months ago and so far, the only thing that has failed has been the thin drag flap. These are "pretty good" mowers that could be "great" mowers if Toro wouldn't be so dang cheap and install these parts from the factory.
I don't buy from a specific seller, I just look for the best bargain on eBay.
I used my time master 7 days a week. I got 1 1/2 years out of it. When the mower starts pulling to the left start saving up for transmission.
Are the Timemaster and Turfmaster spindles the same? I never hear about upgrading the spindles.
Yes, pulleys and belts are the same
Thanks
You should include a link to where you purchased the pulleys and part numbers…..
I want to by this kit for my husband😃 WHERE DO I ORDER IT FROM???
I bought mine on ebay.
Looking at Timemaster. Thanks for your videos. Where are you buying the pulley kits from?
Can you please tell me where you got the kit from? The ones I have found only come with idler Pulleys.
Dunno 126-7890, the part number shown in the video, appears to be just an Exmark pulley kit. Currently $114 on Amazon. Timing belt should be about $36. Drive belt about $12.
Bought this on E-bay
How much torque is needed to set the nut on the brake?
What are the pulley package part numbers please. You didn’t show it! ??? 😬
Do the new pulleys help stop the blade belt from breaking?
No, belt wear is the same.
Those pulleys are the only thing that hasn't given problems. Lol
Where do you get the commercial pulley?
I buy most of my parts on eBay.
These belts are better quality from the ones that come with the time master ?
Not sure, these were what was available on line. Be careful how tight you make the belts. Too much tension will wear them out sooner.
Let me know how these new pulleys hold up.
Been using these pulleys for over 6 months now and are running great. No issues yet. By now, the originals would have broke or making bad sounds. These are my main residential mowers and used all day every day.
Mine broke after three months. it was the tension-er pulley that broke. Kinda disappointed
How long/hours did you use the TIme Master before you had to change these components? I been using my Honda for 8 yrs and haven’t had to replace the belt yet. Just oil, filter, and spark plugs.
Your Honda doesn't have a twin blade deck.
The Honda has a stacked blade.
Where did you get the kit
How old is your TimeMaster?
I think this one in the video was 2 years old.
