There was a time when bands tried to get the musicians they could find to create the best music they knew how to make. Songs like this were the product.
More of them out there than people realize. Mostly out of the UK..... trained musicians that studied classical....then....the 60's hit and they went, 'oh shit...money to be made here.' Then the Moog came along. lol. The electric guitar created RR and the synthesizer created yes, genesis, etc....then someone made music with turntables....sound....made into music....it can be anything. Music is just....sound. One day someone will master 'the oyster 8 speed blender'....lol
YES! (excuse the pun) This one of my favorite bands. I saw them 12 times between 1974 and 1992 and they never disappointed. No Autotune, no drum machine, no sampling. Just pure talent across the board. Jon Anderson is my favorite singer. By the way, the second harmony in the back that you mentioned is singing John Lennon's "Give Peace a Chance." "Heart Of the Sunrise" is another brilliant and exciting work by this band. Hope you give it a listen. 👍
I love how almost every so called Yes fans compares them to the later more mainstream but just as equal instrumentally talented if not inferior band “Rush”
@@ThePIMPaboveallpimps This girl loves RUSH, but is new to YES. Giving her perspective. Hence my reference. Nothing more to it than that. There were no comparisons made in my comment.
ERIC this comment dosen’t really make sense, I know you worked it out with the other person but you said, “but just as equal instrumentally talented if not inferior band Rush. So your complementing them, and then saying they’re not that good, I don’t understand.
This band had several eras. The early 80's they had lots of success with songs such as Owner of a Lonely Heart. My favorite of that era was It Can Happen. Great harmonies
Heavy duty classical influenced rock. Before RUSH there was YES, a big influence on rush and other progressive rock bands. Chris Squire was an amazing bass player. Check out the song "Close to the edge". Freaking unreal.
I love it when they sing the opening chorus in a cappella twice, and I especially love it when the key decreases by a whole step each time they repeat the chorus at the end of the song
Chris Squire, the bass player for Yes, was a huge hero to Geddy Lee of Rush. Listen to "Yours Is No Disgrace" to get a sense of Squire's influence on many Rush songs. Squire also shows off his chops on "Roundabout", a song many deem the masterpiece of that era of the band. "Long Distance Runaround" is another notable song from them that nobody else has mentioned so far. P.S. Go for the album cuts of these songs where you can. The radio edits omit too much.
As others have said, Roundabout would be a good next choice.....it's their best known song. Heart of the Sunrise and Wonderous Stories are killer, though Siberian Khatru is my favorite. "To my mind, Yes may be the single most important of all the progressive rock bands," said Rush's Geddy Lee, who calls Close to the Edge "among my favorite rock albums of all time."
You have no clue how happy you just made me. The fact that you mimed the keyboard and bass when you heard it intrigues me to know more about you. SUBSCRIBED.
Doesn’t this music just make you feel alive? Love your reaction and how you really got into the sound! You might like the band Asia with some similarities to Yes. “Sole Survivor,” and “Heat of the Moment,” are great classics from Asia! You have a great channel!
Music reaction was pretty good, The lunch reaction I could’ve done without. Distracting! Give the Ritz bits a break for five, they’ll be there when the songs over LOL
Great reaction. Yes has a great body of work anything from their first six albums is gonna be good. I suggest Heart of the Sunrise from the album Fragile. ThAnks
do a reaction to "Genesis-home by the sea" & "Genesis-second home by the sea" ... these are two separate songs that should have been blended into one song.
I believe you mean Jon Anderson. Ian Anderson is the voice, flute, composer/arranger, acoustic guitar, and occasionally some other stuff for Jethro Tull.
I think you got into the Yes vibe. There is so much more. Stick with this album for the moment and work you way up. Starship Trooper next, then Yours is no Disgrace. Then move on to the Fragile album with Roundabout. Then you will be ready for the good stuff.
I agree completely, I would only suggest that she listen to Long Distance Runaround / The Fish, before Roundabout. Scribecash would f-ing love The Fish...
Just in case there as people that appreciate good music and haven't heard it yet. Here is Snarky Puppy's Lingus ruclips.net/video/L_XJ_s5IsQc/видео.html
I honestly dont know why you havent checked out Eddie Van Halen - Eruption Solo , Live Without A Net!!! Eddie is by far the best rock n roll guitarist of all time and he makes the guitar make sounds that are almost alien!!! He is an absolute pleasure to watch and such a LEGEND!!!👌🎸💯
There was a time when bands tried to get the musicians they could find to create the best music they knew how to make. Songs like this were the product.
David Levin This is the correct take.
1975 One Day Concert at QPR Football Ground....Top Of The Bill : Yes. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@A S and then punk became a pop fad like everything else, and now rock is dead for good lol
More of them out there than people realize. Mostly out of the UK..... trained musicians that studied classical....then....the 60's hit and they went, 'oh shit...money to be made here.' @@satexman2585 Only Rick Wakeman was trained musically, the rest were self taught
That bad ass bass riff was the late, great Chris Squire (RIP). I love me some Yes!
Finally some music from the prog rock gods. YES!
Dude she reacted the subdivisions by Rush before she released this video
You mispronounced King Crimson... but yeah.. Yes is awesome
@@blackdog5186 I suppose it was logical to try the tribute band first, then move up to the masters
@@martinreed5964 and by master you mean king crimson right? 🤣🤣🤣
Yes and King Crimson >>> Rush.
Yes is a fantastic group I can tell she really dug this
Heart of The Sunrise. These guys have dozens of great songs but this might be my fave

Such a great band with very accomplished musicians. The amazing thing was they actually sounded better live. Fire.
Saw them live! Fantastic musicians!
Ladies and gentlemen Chris Squire and Yes the greatest show on earth
"Roundabout" is the most logical next song for YES. So much incredible music from this amazing band. RUSH were heavily influenced by them.
I love how almost every so called Yes fans compares them to the later more mainstream but just as equal instrumentally talented if not inferior band “Rush”

@@nickavenoso7851 I think he is saying their songwriting is not as good as YES, which is obviously more of a subjective view.
This band had several eras. The early 80's they had lots of success with songs such as Owner of a Lonely Heart. My favorite of that era was It Can Happen. Great harmonies
"Roundabout" is probably their most popular song of the 70"s.
Definitely, check that out!
Especially if you like Bad ass Basslines

One of the great and most influential records of the 70’s.
A 1st rate progressive rock band. Our lady is consistently insightful. This new generation of young people give me hope.
Yes’s “Leave It” is always on my playlist
Proof that all good people have soul.
Starship Trooper from the same band. Both great songs.
This was a blast from the past I mean way back 40 years or more Yes had so many great songs

All I can say is YES!!!! Progressive Rock is amazing stuff.
With YES, live versions always are the Killer ones !☺️☺️👍
Good reaction! "Roundabout" is a masterpiece. I would recommend that one next.
So cute! I'm impressed you referenced Chuck Berry! Beauty and brains.👍
They had some great songs back in the 70's.
Yes’s most famous song is ROUNDABOUT which you will enjoy for the musicianship and killer bass lines !!

Starship Troopers is another one from Yes and long distant runaround are an epic journey
One of the most interesting songs in rock music... just like the young lass reacting to it.
Yes!
That was Total Fire !!!
That's the music I grew up on. Glad you got to listen.
5:15 They start singing The Beatle’s “Give Peace a Chance.”
I thought that was a John Lennon /Plastic Ono Band song.
Good one! Classic progressive rock We had it all way back when..
Yes I do remember Emerson, Lake & Palmer (ELP)
i grew up with this music thanks for your input.
Steve Howe joined for The Yes Album, replacing Peter Banks on guitar, and the group's classic period began.
Court of the crimson king, king crimson

Those players in YES were far up and away. The rest of us do what we can to leave our musical mark.
