Im here 5 years later, I'm 24/25 in February
I was 20,21 when I heard your song for the first time, just lost the partner at the time due to drug overdose and T1D related issues.
So,
when your song wind resistance came out I was fighting full blown meth addiction, battling grief and other toxicities - fast forward to now and on the 15th of February next month, I'll be reaching 2 years clean/sober from said addiction+ other toxicity.
Your song has been one of the reasons to do myself better by giving myself complete permission..
For that, I thank you and hope you go really far in your music ❤

I love this song. I used to listen to it one exact year ago, a period that i had gotter closer to a girl. We would climb up an abandoned building and we would just chill on the rooftop for hours and hours. But that place doesnt exist any more. Unfortunately they took it down. Whenever i listen to this song i just close my eyes and i go back up there. This is one of my morst important memories, and your song just brings it back to me. Thank you for making something that even though it has nothing to do with the meaning that i had in my mind, made on of the prettiest memories that i have stay alive. Nostalgia is something else.

*-Thinking institution’s the solution.*
There’s many institutions that help individuals overcome addiction but ultimately your sobriety is your responsibility alone.
*-Imagine reducing yourself to your name.*
In AA/NA meetings you’re known to the group as your first name + & I’m an addict reducing yourself to such.
*-Janet, you’ve got no one else you can blame.*
Recovery is about taking accountability & accepting you’re where you are because of your decisions & actions no one else’s.
*-You've stuck all your conscience inside of your brain. So, now you just shoot stuff inside of your veins.*
Addicts use to escape as a result they lie to convince themselves they don’t have a problem to continue numbing themselves to reality.
*-So go ahead & find your meaning with your methamphetamine & once you can see you’ve trapped all your grace maybe you’ll join me & girl we can race.*
When in recovery you see others still in active addiction & hope one day they’ll realize what you did & join you in sobriety.
*I can run faster with no wind resistance, I’ll fly under no conditions. Teach myself complete submission while I grant myself complete permission.*
Drugs take over your life & weigh you down, when you get sober you’re more free. To get sober you have to submit to the fact you have a problem & grant yourself permission to overcome it.
