Can’t wait for all of the “I moved so I’ve gotta redo all the home networking and tech nonsense that I spent the last ten years doing to my old house” videos.
It's mostly going to be moving his rack, and hurting his back in the process, then crawling around in the attic running Cat6 and knocking holes in the ceiling. Bonus points if Brian the electrician is involved and gets insulted every five seconds.

That's one of the reasons why I refuse to move. I've got my house customized so well: network wiring, security cameras, lots of home automation, backup power, etc., etc. I would hate to re-do it all over again, or might love it to do it with better technology.

Hey, gotta say it’s fun hearing the crew in the background. It’s always cool seeing production quality with these shows, but with fun stuff like this it’s way more fun to hear everyone just enjoying the build, in my opinion.

lol why are there so many comments on videos talking about how "natural" a video was. Really guys they're just sitting there putting computers together, just because they have expensive support tech doesn't make them super human people. They're clearly just a bunch of normal tech geeks and it is just weird that I see a comment like this every video like people are expecting something different. I am new to the channel though so maybe I am missing something but even the old videos seem pretty similar just less quality on the back end and Linus looks like a baby.
@@DATWagonator Yes, you clearly are new to the channel. Most tech vids are much more scripter and sterile/to the point. They were like that as well. Now they're just bunch of guys building a computer. No one is implying they're super human...

Their old videos are my favorites because they give off the exact vibe that this video gives off. You can usually tell when something is scripted or done specifically for videos, which has been happening a lot as they expand their brand, and that's not a bad thing, but it becomes less relatable and natural. This video (and their old videos) felt like it was a last minute decision and lacked a creative direction/script, which could be a positive or a negative depending on how you look at it, but that's what made it so genuine.
Another reason why this video in specific felt more genuine, was because it's literally just Linus building a PC, and him talking to his friends for like 3 hours based off what he said. Some of their most popular uploads are streams of Linus building PCs and just talking to chat or his friends.

But the phrase came from the movie. He himself clarified it in his youtube channel.

i actually prefer torx for small screws, its much harder to strip them, meanwhile most standard p0-p3 screws are not only cheap, but strip super easy

Torx is very much superior to all screws, it is near impossible to strip, has a higher contact ratio and a far better transfer of energy and since most drills have the ability to stop when the screw doesn't go in anymore the philips head screws are only a liability at best with no benefit (maybe only useful in budget assembly lines still to cut high precision machine costs because they self center the drill)
@@MonsterPumpkin torx are still easy to strip if they are made cheaply. I speak from actually having stripped torx screws a few times. But honestly yeah I still do kind of prefer them more - when they are made right they are way harder to strip, and this is a big one - the different sized ones aren't compatible with the smaller size bits. Phillips has several different sizes that are similar enough that they can work with several different screw sizes and honestly most of the time I just choose the one that looks right, makes them really easy to strip out.

This is basically how those old Apple Cube computers went together. If you had to replace the HDD, you had to slide the entire chassis out of the cube, then IIRC, the HDD just slides out. That was back when Apple engineering was really cool and you could actually replace stuff.
Well Apple engineering is still crazy cool but you can't replace anything that's for sure.

Torx support higher torque without stripping the bolt, they're better for constant use when doing maintenance regularly, should be the standard in my opinion, philips screws strip very easily specially when using the wrong tip (there are several of them and everybody uses them interchangeably).
Yes, and people put all sorts of flathead drivers, philips of wrong size, coins whatever they have available into philips screws. Torx are great.
The best LTT videos are the ones Linus truly has a blast with. I love seeing the joy he gets from building PC's!

btw, on the website from Louqe you can see that in the case is the option to build a 140mm fan on top in the case. maybe that makes it a bit cooler then 80°C for CPU and GPU. greets from Germany
There's nothing in the manual about how to actually install it, and I'm not sure what good a 140mm fan is gonna do with a mostly closed top. You could maybe pull some extra air through the small gaps, but how much good is that realistically going to do?
@@ShaneSaiyan the housing is on the side where the graphics card sits with a relatively large grille that allows a lot of air. the fan above is installed in such a way that it "pushes" the air through the small slits around the lid! that is precisely the weak point. warm air always rises as we have learned in physics, and the fan above would help to improve the flow of air in the housing significantly because it could push more air out than it would without it. and if you look closely you can also see the 4 screws where the 140mm fan can be attached. I would also like to link you to where the possibility of installation is described on the manufacturer's website, but links are not allowed here, so you will have to find it yourself. but it's easy to find. just click on the "SPECS" button on the website and you are right where it says it is. greets

@@TheMelbournelad well not those, so much, but the NAS and camera kit could probably be moved. But also they're a source of content and revenue with the bonus of not involving lots of people in the studio during the worst of the pandemic which was probably a good motivator

Linus, I agree with your observation as to the top of the case being open being a better design. Heat rises. Take the case back off and find a machine shop near you to plasma cut vents in the top. Then powder coat it your favorite color. Awesome video, and is agree it seemed to be one of easier power builds.

This is actually dope as hell. I've seen a lot of SFF builds and have never been tempted due to how hard they seem to build. This looks even easier than building in a mid tower. You could undervolt that 3080 to chop off some wattage and that would have much more bearable temps

16:53 I recently replaced the water in my loop after 3 years (!) and cleaned it and "improved" my fan and pump speeds. My PC did not shut of, but the water temp went to 70°C and the case was so hot, you could nearly burn yourself :D It was pretty silent though, and the water probably wont have any bio issues after neraly boiling it.
As someone who regularly deals with phillips head screws, I can assure you the reason anyone goes with torx is to prevent stripping.

I’ve now forced myself to do this build few months later after sourcing the rtx card. Here are my thoughts.
The finish is very poor to the point you can cut yourself when handling it. The advertised possibility to easily carry it is only for the people who wish to lose their fingers. It’s a very heavy rough cut thick aluminium which acts as a mass heat storage so cpu temps are high. Plastic base is cheap and ugly. Mine is throttling at full load reaching 100 deg Celsius using the “best” cooler solution by the case manufacturer - the one which makes the case almost impossible to close as the fit is so tight you need to remove the anti vibration rubber on a 120mm additional cup fan to make it fit. It’s also very loud at full load. There is no zip ties points and there’s surprisingly little room inside the case. I had better temps and could fit 3 ssd drives in a much much smaller case from Dan. Graphic card is not securely mounted as it does not have a release clip. All ports located at the bottom of the case as simply stupid and a pain to reach. There no way to use dust filters without turning this case into air frying machine - also the “best solution” cpu cooler simply will not allow to have enough room for the thinnest of dust sheets. What else… ah the on/off button falls apart each time you open the case on top of making cheap scratchy noise when pressed. I’m not sure how to use the provided usb port (only one came with my case) as it is usb-c female to usb-c male - maybe my motherboard does not have such feature. So another external usb splitter is needed for the easy of use. So overall what have I ended up with? - An ugly colour, heavy and hot, large but tiny inside case and I still have to keep the rest of my drives as external now plus usb port extension on top… and I need to dust the flat twice as often as before. I’ve spent 75usd on additional 3 fans to be able to put the outer shell on due to temperature inside - one fan is on top making it rather ugly looking. This case is a nightmare and should disappear from the market. Stay away. If you want a quality case check other options. This is a product from someone who has never build a pc. Yet alone small factor one. The designer is emailing people to buy this failed prototype at 50% discount but trust me you don’t want put your pc for days on end. It has taken me 2 days and I have been building pc’s my whole life. All those articles and yt reviews are biased. You have been warned.
@@10secondsrule Agree, I bought it - went through 3 different coolers, the recommended one being the worst. Scythe shuriken 3 is the best with a foam duct. Case desperately needs another fan exhaust at the top but it makes the case so ugly. I regret buying it everyday. I don’t understand how they made the ghost s1 and then made this awful case.

I think this is the easiest small form factor build I’ve seen 🤔 I was really surprised at how easy that was. I would love to see a 2.0 version and if there are ever parts available I would love a build like this. As I’ve gotten older I’ve found myself like my gadgets and stuff to take up a lot less space and more easy of use. I don’t need all that power but this would be more than enough.
Don’t mind me frantically watching on 2x speed for verified gamer info 😂

Linus, I love you... but as someone who is a strong proponent of USB-C, you should also be a strong proponent of torx screws. Philips screws are the micro-usb connectors of the screw world.

Don't complain about torx screws. They are by far superior to philips, and should be the standard screws. If you think otherwise you should try out screwing a lot of screws of each type.
