I also did a video review on this amp. Wish they still made them and came out with the El Diablo + model. They were very well made!! Note the amp designer is now with Mesa so who knows what sort of interesting things may be coming! Also awesome playing brother! The Genz G-Flex 2x12 can can hang with a 4x12 too and weighed less that the head to carry!!
It's a great amp. People who slag it off have either never played it or have not bothered to spend the time to get acquainted with it. I've had Mesas, Laneys, Marshalls and Randalls, sold them all when I got this. I just bought a Marshall Studio JCM 800 and a DSL 20 because I really wanted to go back to Marshall again. I sold the JCM 800 and the DSL is on Ebay. I don't play metal but I do get everything from Moore to Lynch out of this coupled to a Rivera K212 Vintage 30 Cab. Maurauder Music has done a very in depth review of this and it really does a Plexi and Brown Sound if you spend some time with it. With so many features it's hard not to get any sound that's in your head.
@@davidfaustino4476 I suppose that's why the words "subjective" and "opinion" are included in the dictionary. Have you ever played one, ever owned one? I noticed that you haven't repled to Maurauder Music's comment.
I have the 60W combo version and love it, been my main amp for a long time now. I do think the combo and head sound a bit different, with the head being a bit fizzier and kinda cheap looking. I don't go for full out modern metal tones either, so maybe that's a factor. The combo is built like a tank, maybe the one negative being it's weight.
Yeah no problem, I’ve got gain set to about 10 o’clock, bass at 10 o’clock, mids at 11, treble at 1 o’clock, and contour right in the middle. I’ve got in on the compressed setting with the attack on and set at about noon. I’m also running a pepers pedals dirty tree in front of it to tighten everything up.
@@davidstafford1071 I collect gear and yes. It has some good features, great clean tone and ability to slave other amps, but could never get the gain up without sounding like ass. Worse than a boss HM2. My mesa or XXX smoke it. Also the cable on the foot pedal is hardwired, if you get a break then your screwed. Should have designed it with a separate cable but in their defense I was able to track down the builder and he fixed it for me. Maybe they will be collectable one day.
My husband has the Genz Benz El Diablo with the matching cabinet with 2-12s n Genz Benz foot petal that came with it.....this is sweeeet!!!
Thanks for doing a review on this! I owned one of these over a decade ago, and wish I never sold it.
That lead is sick, great review

Same here, sold a dual rec in favor of this beast --- it's got soul from the light to the dark side
Lolol you two need your ears checked

Active eq on this amp also.

Yep, still sounds like an angry peavey rage 108. Wish it sounded as good as it looked.
I know where one is at right now in Great working and cosmetic condition for sale..can't remember the price but maybe $350-$400 ?
Can you share the settings dialing it in ? Im trying to make it sound as best as i can but i just cant get it right
Almost bought one when they were new but it was just a little out of my price point at the time. These things were amazing! Which I had got one..
Thanks for a great demo.....I regret selling mine.....dammmm
Sounds killer did you have a boost on that intro?
Yep I had the pepers pedal dirty tree boost on
How well does this Amp do with recording? Sit in a mix pretty well?
What are you using for Cabs?
I’m running into a two notes torpedo live and using ir’s
Dude you’re using the 5105 icon WTH
I have this head can you recommend some settings for the hot channels and contour help steer me in right way to dial it in please!

@@dapettit6 thank you so much I’m going to give that a try tonight!!
That’s a lot of amp
I own one and it's a noisy, fizzy sounding POS. I get better metal tones from a fender amp and a stompbox😄
Why did you get it then? Did you not try it out first?
I have the 60W model and it's not fizzy at all. My only complaint is reliability. It blew up capacitors after 5 years. Cheap fix, but still...

@@jimpalombo9620 You're right in that the hot channel needs to be tamed. I only ever use the clean channel and pedals.
I’m sorry to tell you that the problem is your playing. I used one of these in several heavy bands and they were absolutely killer.
