Can the Revival Drive make this Marshall sound better???

Today I'm trying out the Origin Effects Revival Drive Hot Rod edition going into a Marshall MicroStack amplifier. Can this $500 pedal make this $50 amp actually good?? Let me know what you think down in the comments.

DIY Guitar Picks from wood and epoxy
Both together
Can you share the settings dialing it in ? Im trying to make it sound as best as i can but i just cant get it right
I know where one is at right now in Great working and cosmetic condition for sale..can't remember the price but maybe $350-$400 ?
My husband has the Genz Benz El Diablo with the matching cabinet with 2-12s n Genz Benz foot petal that came with it.....this is sweeeet!!!
That lead is sick, great review
I would like to ear the clean sound without the base.
I have the 60W combo version and love it, been my main amp for a long time now. I do think the combo and head sound a bit different, with the head being a bit fizzier and kinda cheap looking. I don't go for full out modern metal tones either, so maybe that's a factor. The combo is built like a tank, maybe the one negative being it's weight.
Song was so sick!
Yep, still sounds like an angry peavey rage 108. Wish it sounded as good as it looked.
Dude you’re using the 5105 icon WTH
Thanks for doing a review on this! I owned one of these over a decade ago, and wish I never sold it.
A big 3 thumbs up, woops that's not...
The vocals video somehow lost sync with the audio, oh well
Almost bought one when they were new but it was just a little out of my price point at the time. These things were amazing! Which I had got one..
need to hear it in 440. not dropped as f. and with a 7 string?
The point was to see how they sounded in a modern metal setting, and most modern metal bands these days tune down pretty low.
go job my friend
I prefer revv 3, I have both, but after getting revv 4 I retired the old boss.
Sounds great :D
I own one and it's a noisy, fizzy sounding POS. I get better metal tones from a fender amp and a stompbox😄
Why did you get it then? Did you not try it out first?
I have the 60W model and it's not fizzy at all. My only complaint is reliability. It blew up capacitors after 5 years. Cheap fix, but still...
@@davidstafford1071 I collect gear and yes. It has some good features, great clean tone and ability to slave other amps, but could never get the gain up without sounding like ass. Worse than a boss HM2. My mesa or XXX smoke it. Also the cable on the foot pedal is hardwired, if you get a break then your screwed. Should have designed it with a separate cable but in their defense I was able to track down the builder and he fixed it for me. Maybe they will be collectable one day.
@@jimpalombo9620 You're right in that the hot channel needs to be tamed. I only ever use the clean channel and pedals.
I’m sorry to tell you that the problem is your playing. I used one of these in several heavy bands and they were absolutely killer.
In the mix sounded like the band Bloodred Fullmoon from Taiwan, their Winter Solstice EP. It has that distinct Lo-fi sound made popular in the 90's by underground Black & Death Metal bands aplenty. Doesn't sound good for much else, except maybe some Cigar Box Guitar Blues... \m/
I did the same with Woodglut :)
Barnwood.. Probably it must be Pinewood. Well, the wood doesn't matter.. A guitar in good hands sounds amazing.
Nice work
I also did a video review on this amp. Wish they still made them and came out with the El Diablo + model. They were very well made!! Note the amp designer is now with Mesa so who knows what sort of interesting things may be coming! Also awesome playing brother! The Genz G-Flex 2x12 can can hang with a 4x12 too and weighed less that the head to carry!!
How well does this Amp do with recording? Sit in a mix pretty well?
That was some great stuff man thank you so much for bringing the guitars out a little bit more out front than the normal mix
Active eq on this amp also.
Boss sounds more boss. 😂
What are you using for Cabs?
I’m running into a two notes torpedo live and using ir’s
Nice Sounding Audio :-)
I have this head can you recommend some settings for the hot channels and contour help steer me in right way to dial it in please!
Yeah no problem, I’ve got gain set to about 10 o’clock, bass at 10 o’clock, mids at 11, treble at 1 o’clock, and contour right in the middle. I’ve got in on the compressed setting with the attack on and set at about noon. I’m also running a pepers pedals dirty tree in front of it to tighten everything up.
@@dapettit6 thank you so much I’m going to give that a try tonight!!
Nice demo dude! Thanks!! Stoked you love it
Thanks for a great demo.....I regret selling mine.....dammmm
??? Ya but Andy ., what did you think I liked the video Well done But I wasn’t playing the guitar through a rig and feeling it like you were so what do you think
Yeah I guess the g3 has a more amp like response to my picking hand where as the mz had a compressed sterile feel to it.
Sounds killer did you have a boost on that intro?
Yep I had the pepers pedal dirty tree boost on
beautiful work. are epoxy picks durable?
It's a great amp. People who slag it off have either never played it or have not bothered to spend the time to get acquainted with it. I've had Mesas, Laneys, Marshalls and Randalls, sold them all when I got this. I just bought a Marshall Studio JCM 800 and a DSL 20 because I really wanted to go back to Marshall again. I sold the JCM 800 and the DSL is on Ebay. I don't play metal but I do get everything from Moore to Lynch out of this coupled to a Rivera K212 Vintage 30 Cab. Maurauder Music has done a very in depth review of this and it really does a Plexi and Brown Sound if you spend some time with it. With so many features it's hard not to get any sound that's in your head.
Same here, sold a dual rec in favor of this beast --- it's got soul from the light to the dark side
Lolol you two need your ears checked
@@davidfaustino4476 I suppose that's why the words "subjective" and "opinion" are included in the dictionary. Have you ever played one, ever owned one? I noticed that you haven't repled to Maurauder Music's comment.
That’s a lot of amp
🎸🌞🤣
Played the Same guitar, recently upgraded to the nx because of the fishman. But still the Standard are great
Metal zone sounds awesome!!
This video helped me understand that Metal Zone is invincible! As well as save 200 boxes: D Sub now! :)
That’s one dirty pedal😎
Absolutely amazing!
Love it man
How long did it actually take to build it? Best guess in hours?
Probably about 30-40 hours
I bought a MT-2 when they first came out to replace a weak HM-2. Who would know the world would go mental and pay what they do for the HM-2 lol. Anyways, I build pedals and just recently finished a REVV G3 as well as a AmpTweaker Tight Metal. I would just say the Tight Metal can be made to sound closer to a MT-2 than the REVV G3 can. Except the MT-2 can be had for $50. :)))
thanks andy nice one, im looking for that kinda chewy dark high gain got the waza met zone, good pedal, im leaning more toward a revv g20 or a hughes and kett 40 though now been chasing that 10 percent for years trying to get near the bog uberschall on a buget, the g3 in to a tube power amp may do the trick :)
Then someone asks where you bought it as it sounds great but they dont believe you made the thing.
I would say boss because of its prominence towards the metal Era like Metallica and pantera!it has a dark and evil look to it with the black and orange.plus back in the early 90s technology had to be a better quality standard than some of the shit you get today!
