Great video mate. Looks a superb project 🤌 I’ve been experimenting with semi dry mix of late. Good in the winter when everything is wet and the flags can sometimes move on a wet bed. More chance of getting rockers though I think 🤔

I think back when I used to do semi dry and the work to get slabs level picking up to scrape a few mm and laugh on it now, always wet with bit of Feb/fairy liquid if you like now full adhesion no complaints ever just like bricklaying
Unreal job! I’ve tried the stick and screed technique myself and the only problem I see with it is that it leaves the mortar bed to the exact height for the next tile so there’s no room left to tap the flag down, as soon as you tap it’s lower than the flag you screeded off

I've been paving 25 yrs. Semi dry is for block edgings and path edgings. Wet mix for all paving! It's harder to lay all paving types on semi dry even with plasticiser in the mix. Water creates the reaction with the cement, so why put less in?
3 degrees or less then mortar won’t go off but you can still lay in the day but not below 3 👍🏴. You could always cover it up with Hessian if it got really cold over night

One thing wondered, it always/often seems like you’re working on projects on your own. Where as many would have a team, labourers plus semi/skilled workers. Taking burden off the boss + potentially having multiple projects on the go.

Id love to do some stuff like this. I understand I'm a world away for you and there's many variables, but how do you charge for something like this? And another question I have is, how thick is you mud? Looks like you have about 4 inches there. Do you think about half that thickness is fine? And are you using type N mortor? Thanks for sharing.
I have a set rate per m2 about £200 and the mud depths are between 30/40 mm on average and the mud mix is 4 sharp sand to 1 cement thx for watching and paying a interest 👍🏴

Any advice on getting quality contracts like you do? We seem to mostly get the cheap customers that want don't want to pay for quality work, while they happily pay cowboys top money for rubbish work!
Instead of a piece tile under the flat wood, you could fix strip of 18mm ply to it, this would give another 2mm to tamper down, if the tile you are laying is 20mm

@@chapman9230 also true but not everyone wants to step out to a lower patio most people want it flush with the inside so that’s the reason for the drainage channel to help this issue. Plus when you think about it it’s actually a pathetic reason for when water splashes on the house. So if your house can’t take rain water hitting it then there’s a bigger problem. Hope that helps 👍🏴

Body I'd say, poor Scott has had a few injuries over the last couple of years. Back(a couple of times I think), knee, ankle, wrist(or arm, not sure), now the ribs and achillies 🙄. Building trade really takes a toll on the auld body I'm afraid.

I found a great tool for slapping on the slurry in the kitchen, a nice large silicone spatula and so easy to clean after use too!!!

Those clips are really only any use on smaller tiles but they are great for cladding the wall with the porcelain I’m using for sure 👍🏴

I think wet is best at a ratio of 4/1 sharp sand and thanks for liking my Music choice 👍🏴
