Love It CVVCLIPS Bro Future Hall Of Famer.
To this day, that spot is a remembrance in the history of wrestling.
Right. I remember watching that match live, and that was one crazy finish.
He's just one of the dudes thats universally loved by all wrestling fans.
Idk , I remember when team angle had massive heat going into 2003 lol
@@nickgraysr.4817lol yeah in 03 but by the time he left in 2010 I think is what he’s referring to
Shelton Benjamin is the Tracy McGrady of wrestling.
People forget that Shawn can mat wrestle when he’s in there with an athlete or technician (Angle, Bret, Shelton) but only does it when he can make his opponent shine even brighter.
I always loved HBK's Chain Wrestling with guys like Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, and Chris Benoit. Especially love HBK's bridge out of a pin sequence into a backslide.
biggest example was Shawn vs bret hart one hour iron man match wrestlemania.
@@balamohammed5947that was a huge task for shawn. That was a joke for bret i imagine. Shows how matural he was to tear the house down with a guy like bret
A lot of wrestlers back in the day could chain wrestle even though they weren’t necessarily amateurs and that’s what made them so great because if need be they could also show real wrestling moves. nowadays though….
My favorite TV match of all time. I still go back to watch it regularly, it’s like the ultimate comfort wrestling to me 😂
King sold that insane superkick perfect as well on commentary .. that whole sequence never left my mind as a fan. Its great to hear shelton validate the memories it locked in and that was his goal. Mega win.
You know what else sold it? The fan in the front row who just jumps up and points like it's the greatest thing ever
And JR saying "OH MAH GAWD IN HEAVEN" 😂😂
@@SteRDLK for sure!
@@OneDrewThreeKing and JR in commentary were a gift.
@@SteRDLK The fan in the Hogan gear! Legit the first thing that comes to mind after remembering the kick 😂 😂
JR commentary was the cherry on top: “Oh my God in Heaven”
Between that super kick and the ladder run up, Shelton has arguably, 2 of the best 10 spots in wrestling for at least the last 25 years.
crazy to me how for over a decade now, every person you see comment on Shelton whether a fan or a wrestler, agrees Shelton is an underrated great who never got the main event push he should have. and yet he’s continued to be under utilized by WWE almost every moment he’s been there
if the knock all this time was his mic ability, SAME FOR LESNAR but they found a way to work around that didn’t they
EXACTLY! I agree 1000% especially about the Lesnar part. While I see him more as an upper mid card guy like he’s kinda always been I do feel he should have had a 4/5 month Workd title reign especially when he first came to Raw after being traded from Smackdown. They centered a whole episode around his first day on Raw and seemed like they were going to do more with him.
I hate too be the guy too say this but knowing vince he probably didn't push him because of his skin tone
That spot with HBK and shelton is literally like edge spearing jeff hardy of 16 foot ladder type moment.
Facts!
man, shelton still looks great and in good shape. when people talk about veterans that are still wrestling, they always mention randy orton, rey mysterio, natalya, kofi, bobby lashley, brock lesnar, and sheamus. but they rarely mention shelton benjamin when he has been in the company longer than most of the ones being mentioned, and have stayed in the business every year and not rest a year or two and then come back like most of the other veterans. it's also sad that he was never pushed since he debuted. the only time he got pushed was when he joined the hurt business, and we all know how that ended.
That was a 5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ match.
That moment is 100% Iconic
That spot is very memorable for me as a kid. First time seeing that kind of spot and I was a big Michaels fan back then, I even had my old Nokia phone with me ready when Shawn is about to do the SCM. I did not got that one because it is really out of nowhere. Was able to record it from the replays though. Everything in the spot is gold, Lawler and JRs commentary, the setup, the unpredictability of who will win that gold rush tournament, the camera angle, the timing of the kick. Even the guy dressed as Hogan is gold. Great memory.
Man the next day in elementary school me & my friends were going crazy talking about that!
Really was one of the best matches imo.. 💯
💯
I'll never forget that moment. That was one of those moments in wrestling history where you remember exactly where you were when it happened. I was sitting in my college dorm watching Raw and as soon as that superkick happened, I yelled to my roommate in the other room that he's GOTTA come see this replay!
Man, Shelton was so underutilized. With all the moments he created, he could've had SO many more if WWE just gave him some more big opportunities. Should've been a main eventer.
I remember jumping out of my couch as a kid when shawn landed that kick shelton is a real one for sure
HBK vs Shelton Benjamin is why I dismiss people who whine if a match has no "storyline" or "build". This match had zero build, but the story was told entirely in the ring. A young lion matching an aging veteran blow for blow, move for move, with the veteran getting angrier and more frustrated with every passing second, until the kid makes a critical mistake and takes himself out.
Literally my favorite match of all time.
Most underrated wrestler every should have gotten a push
Everything was perfect in that crowd: the hulk hogan fan in the front row jumped up on the SCM, the 2 black bros in the 2nd frame after the pin were AWESTRUCK by hbk KILLIN Shelton, and Hbk and shelton played it like "omg, are you dead man? Can you breathe???" After the pin... it was unforgettable. Its why people love wrestling, it gets so real when the timing is right..... OH AAAND it was the first clip on the Raw intro with Across the Nation playing. So iconic.
One time at a convention in 2013 I saw Shelton and Carlito talking at their merch table I think, or at least somewhere close to where merch was being sold. They were actually charging for the meet and greet that day so usually wrestlers or their handlers are quick to get fans out of the way if they didn't pay to meet these guys, but Shelton and Carlito were both nice enough to shake my hand and I had the chance to tell Shelton how awesome the HBK match was, will always appreciate them giving me that time.
Man, I wish Shelton had a bigger run. He’s such a fantastic pro wrestler. He mentored Brock in OVW for crying out loud.
@MrSpeed-it8gr. WWE should’ve put him on WWECW in 2006 and let him big a big name on that show.
What WWE should’ve done with WWECW was have RVD and Benoit be the two top veterans (because Angle was going to leave), and have Test be the top heel, and have Shelton, John Morrison, CM Punk and Cor Von as the 4 young guys you want to build.
That match is easily on the level of a ppv-main event match.
Awesome to watch
Was lucky enough to be at that show in Boston with my dad as a ten year old kid. That spot is a moment I will never forget. That's my version of Mick Foley watching Jimmy jump off the cage. A memory forever. Fucking awesome.
What got me into wrestling . My best in grade 8 was telling me about this. Afterwards i got hooked into wrestling
Let's not forget the Money In The Bank match where he ran up a ladder leaning against one that Jericho was climbing and hit a clothesline on him.
Plus the tbone to edge off the ladder
It was so good, they put it in SVR ‘07.
The best thing about that is it looks like Shelton is jumping in to give an axe handle or the like. Too often people just look like their jumping into a kick with no point to the manuever
I was front row for that match, still remember like yesterday
Funny that he mentioned Michael Hayes here. A lot of people have credited that guy with coming up with some great ideas in wrestling. I believe he gave the Hardy Boyz their original looks and helped Austin create the Stunner.
One of my all time favorite underrated guys. Sheltyb deserved (and still does) more recognition/ title runs
I'm glad I watched that live...
The single greatest spot of all time. I saw it live, and I CANNOT forget it even if I tried.
Coolest ending to a match ever! I understand pro wrestling us choreographed, to this day I still don't see any way Shelton Benjamin couldn't have actually gotten kicked in the face?? nothing fake about it. He is an amazing performer, they both are...
I can't imagine how perfectly timed that had to be
Both guys had to be exactly on the ball
We all hope to see more incredible moments like that from you Shelton
That spot is iconic omg in heaven he had to kick his head off the match was probably my favourite TV match ever it was pure art even right down to Earls reaction afterwards
big fan of shelton benjamin. seems like a good dude. and what an athlete.
I wish they had more matches, they had amazing chemistry in the ring.
This match made me a wrestling fan for life
I Still Remember That Match Classic.
The Gold Standard of OMG moments.
I don't know if it's just something that I misheard or misunderstood, but I swear I remember him talking to Chris Jericho on his podcast YEARS ago and he said that he wrestled that match with vertigo. If so, THAT'S incredible. To have a match of that caliber while being ill, that's a skill and a testament to how good he is 🔥
One of the first catching finishers, Sheltons Springboard off the top rope to Shawn's Foot connecting with his Jaw. Beautifully done and immortalised for years as part of the intro theme to Raw.
HBK had the ability to make those Kicks look Real 😂
It is real wrestlers do get hurt by other wrestlers, example when Goldberg Super Kicked Bret hart and hart hated him for because of how hard he kicked him
I remember watching that Raw episode and that finisher was so good, I can’t remember any of the other matches that night, Shelton Benjamin and Shawn Michaels are 100% professionals 👍
I remember that match like it was yesterday
Should’ve been the match to place him on the road to being a main event talent.
Shawn Vs Shelton is probably my fave Raw match.
Edge vs Eddie in the no DQ match for Smackdown.
Both are ones I go back to regularly and epitomise (to me) what the best of wrestling was when I was a teen.
Especially it was added to the intro for raw
Love you Sheldon . You are a great wrestler, one of the best
Fun fact: Sammy Guevara & Matt Jackson paid tribute to this on an episode of Dynamite (02/19/2020 in Atlanta). I was in attendance and it was great ☺️
Best Raw match i still remember to this day.
Dont forget JR's commentary - Oh my God in heaven, that Sweet Chin Music It is academic
The fact hes never been world champion is an atrocity.
love this guy
Boston MA the only raw I have ever gone it was awesome
One of his and the greatest spots in Wwe history
Shelton is a legend
Saw this live. Was laying on the couch. Spot happened. I sat up lol! In regular Monday Night Raw??? Did that just happen. Always think about that spot.
The Hall of Fame needs to be calling Shelton.
Shawn Michaels says it’s a guarantee
I think this match is a great example of how amazing Shawn can be as a ring general when he's willing to be unselfish.
Yes shelton it was really that damn good 😂
Shelton for world champ before retire!
It was even on the RAW intro
I want him back with Lashey and the Profits!
The human highlight reel
That moment and the moment at WM when he runs up the ladder and knocks Y2J (I think) off are two of the most memorable moments in WWE history also Rey and HBK did that spot remake much better than Logan and Seth
I always wondered if it hurt him
Well you certainly did that my friend. I hope you start a wrestling school.
To think that match was on raw
King booker over this 🥷? Fucked up
The only regret about that match is that it should have led to a huge push that just never came. They stuck him with the "big mama" character in typical Vince racist fashion and that was it.
O_O 4:45
LeBron always entertain
That match was very short, but awesome. Shawn did Shelton and audience a solid by actually selling properly for once
i watch this match over and over again specifically for that kick.....Shawn kicked him right in the soul
