    Wow, crazy to hear the changes. We were there the second week they opened, and it was awesome. We actually were just looking at going back because all of the food and drink was so great unlike other places! Best ramen I've had anywhere, weird but delicious ball of meat thing at the Italian, they did have menu breakfast at Lola, etc. Thought they had another restaurant then though that you didn't mention so I wonder if it closed. Yes the pool was temp was warm then, they opened 12/1/22 and we got there 12/10/22. No timeshare stuff, but did offer a ridiculously low-priced spa package on check-in that we were so glad we got. Thanks for letting us all know about these changes!!!

      Thank you for sharing your experience. 🙂
      I heard the resort was great when they opened. Not perfect but more a case of working out the opening 'kinks' rather than the stuff happening now.
      I watched a number of RUclips videos when they opened and I was impressed so I added it to our list.
      It did not meet what I was expecting and when I spoke to others who were there on a return trip they said it had gone downhill a lot.
      Too bad. I love the size and It could be so darn good if they went back to what they were doing so well. The new management seems to be too focused on the bottom line and not focusing enough on balancing profits with customer experience. A happy guest is usually a repeat and loyal customer.
      All that said, we would go back but only if it was a deal. 😀

      Management has changed and speaking to those who have been to it shortly after it opened and then again a year later a few key things have changed. It's a shame really because if they had left it as it was when they re-opened it, it would be a real winner!!

    Great video once again We are both retired and travel to Mexico often usually out of Hamilton because it is so convenient but the flight times arent great The flight home is usually late so the hospitality room or lack of one becomes an issue Most places we go do have them or at least a change room The fact that they wanted you to pay for a day pass after 3 is inexcusable at the prices they charge This is the first time we have heard of this and I hope its not becoming a thing It seems most resorts now are reluctant to give you a late check out even though they charge you for it as well The nickle and diming stuff is pretty bad too You wouldnt expect that at a higher end resort Whats next? Are they going to tell you that your all inclusive doesnt start until 3 when you arrive earlier?

    • @newtravelescapes
      @newtravelescapes  7 месяцев назад +2

      You are so right! I actually did ask the manager if we arrived before the 3pm check-in, would the required day pass also apply? He said no but I'm not entirely convinced.
      The other resort that we have had this done at was Grand Residence and they physically cut our wrist bands off at 4pm. We had 3 kids and a 9pm flight home. We never returned to that resort again.
      I would be surprised if it became a thing. I sure hope not. The resorts have a lot to lose with how busy Cancun has gotten.
      Air Canada and West Jet both offer later flights home during peak seasons not to mention those from across the pond.
      From a marketing perspective, it was a very poor last impression to leave.
      I expected better from a resort at the price point of Hyatt. I wonder if the Hyatt Zilara in Cancun has adopted the same policy?

  • @druiz012
    @druiz012 2 месяца назад +1

    Thanks for the video... I have about 100k Hyatt points and am planning to go to Cancun for 4 nights. This is in my points range but looks like a pass. There's a few breathless and secrets properties that meet our criteria of adults only for 29k points or less a night.

    • @newtravelescapes
      @newtravelescapes  2 месяца назад +1

      Honestly, I find Secrets a bit better than Zilara.
      Secrets Riviera Cancun gives you access to both Secrets and Breathless. That might be a good bang for your points.
      Also, Secrets Moxche is very nice. Great food!
      Secrets Akumal has an amazing beach but it is a ways from the airport. A touch closer to Tulum airport if you can find a good flight deal.
      The new Secrets Playa Blanca looks like a nice option and may be less points because it is new.

    Great review. My husband and I were there when it was a Secrets and it was absolutely terrible ( the spa was very good though ) . From watching both your videos, the food has significantly improved. The buffet was the worst but both the exterior dinner restaurants were almost as bad. The staff as always in Mexico was very good.
    I am curious if you remember the rental price of the Beach and pool cabanas?

      The food overall was good. Nothing amazing but nothing terrible. Except the sushi bar - that was very good!
      The cabana rentals currently range from $120-140 USD per day depending on the size and if you want it around the pool or on beach.
      Hope that helps 🙂

    • @newtravelescapes
      @newtravelescapes  7 месяцев назад +2

      I don't know specifics but not everything you see available at the bar is included. Also, the bartenders had to ask their manager if certain ones were included or an extra fee. They didn't seem to know either.
      Here is what I remember but I'm sure it is subject to change. 😜
      None of the Class Azul tequilas are included (understandably). Don Julio Blanco is included but the other Don Julios have an extra fee.
      Cuervo, Cazadores, and Jimador are included.
      Absolute, Smirnoff, Tito's and Stoli are included but not Grey Goose.
      Bombay, Beefeater, and Diega are included.
      Bacardi dark and white. Captain Morgan, Havana club are included.
      Mezcals are hit and miss but I don't know them as well to list them.
      Red label, Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, Passport Scotch, Wild Turkey and Canadian Club are included. Some days Black label was and other days it was not.
      I'm sorry I don't know them all but I hope that helps a bit. The cocktails are really good so even with simple Absolute vodka the creativity was delish.

    This video is so helpful. We almost booked Hyatt as we are planning for a 5 night vacation to Mexico and looking for All Inclusive and preferably adults only resort. We did check Excellence and Secrets but there are so many options. What would be the best say 2-3 resorts that you would recommend in this price range of Hyatt?

    • @newtravelescapes
      @newtravelescapes  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you. I'm really happy you found our video helpful.
      The pricing fluctuates a lot throughout the year and at different resorts. I'm not sure what budget you're looking at but I'll tell you some of my favourite adults only, all-inclusives. 😊
      For me,
      Excellence Riviera Cancun - closer to the airport so less time in traffic for a shorter vacay. Good pricing right now for Fall.
      Secrets Akumal - further from the airport (90 min) but an amazing resort and the pricing is better the further out you book and when packaged with a flight.
      Secrets Maroma - best Secrets resort imo and best beach. It can be expensive but you should still be able to find it well priced if you can play with your dates a bit.
      Excellence Playa Mujeres - a bit too pricy most times but a great resort when you can find it cheaper.
      Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya - the least expensive of the resorts I've mentioned so far. Book a Golden room at this resort rather than entry level. The main pool is huge and very active and the golden pool is quiet and peaceful.
      Iberostar Grand Paraiso - top notch drinks and food. Very good for relaxing. Not too many activities. Access to the whole complex if you enjoy going for a walk and checking things out.
      Hope that helps narrow things down a bit.
      Hyatt was a nice resort and if you can find it on sale is good for a 5 night stay. If it is the same price as the above mentioned ones then, no. But if you can find a deal it is nice. I haven't finished my HZRM suites video yet but I would book a suite facing the resort interior or the beach rather than a tropical view.

Any help would be greatly appreciated Thank You.

      @newtravelescapes  5 месяцев назад +2

      Really glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you so much for your kind words. 🙂
      If you are ok with the issues we had with the resort, then HZRM is a good choice for the right price. They are doing many things well.
      I would book a resort facing room or better. Nothing on the outside.
      Make sure you have a flight booked that will have you out of the resort before 3pm. That day pass is a scam- imo.
      The drinks are great throughout the resort. The pool is nice. A bit too cool in the winter. The resort size is good, easy to navigate.
      The rooms are a bit smaller than most others within this category but not a deal breaker. They are clean and new.
      Restaurants are few but good. Not awesome but certainly not anywhere near bad. Some dishes are great some are ok but that is true for many resorts.
      Entertainment is limited so it really is subjective depending on what you enjoy.
      Others I recommend are:
      Iberostar Paraiso Maya
      Excellence Riviera Cancun
      Beloved (Playa Mujeres)
      TRS Coral
      Hope that helps! Have fun planning your trip. Feel free to reach out with any questions. I'm happy to help if I know the answer. 😄

    Would you stay at zilara Cancun or riviera Maya? And why

    • @newtravelescapes
      @newtravelescapes  3 месяца назад +2

      Totally depends on what you are looking for. Zilara Cancun and Ziva Cancun are adjoining properties so there are technically more kids around but not in an annoying way.
      Zilara Riviera Maya is a stand alone resort and beside it (north side) is another adults only property so we saw very few kids the week we were there.
      Zilara Riviera Maya is a bit less expensive so it may fit better into your budget.
      To me the management is better at Zilara Cancun but that can change at any time so it is not a real factor.
      Beach quality fluctuates depending on the time of year but generally Cancun gets a little bit less seaweed but again, that is really hit or miss so don't count on it.
      Hope that helps a bit. 😊

    Has anyone in these comments stayed in one of the rooms that has a personal butler? If yes, what exactly does a butler do?

    • @newtravelescapes
      @newtravelescapes  7 месяцев назад +1

      We didn't have a butler at Hyatt but we did at TRS Coral and Iberostar Grand Paraiso. I assume it is a similar idea. They are your personal point of contact person for the resort. They check you in, show you your room, make any spa, cabana, or dinner reservations that you may want and generally check in on how your stay is going and if you need anything. In our experience (not at HZRM but at other resorts) they are your "go to person" rather than having to go and see the resort concierge.
      Hopefully someone who has had recent butler service at HZRM will share more insights.

    Hyatt Zilara Cancun vs Beloved Playa Mujeres?

    • @newtravelescapes
      @newtravelescapes  4 месяца назад +2

      I haven't stayed at Hyatt Zilara Cancun although I have been told it is better than Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya.
      What I do know is Hyatt is larger, attached to the Hyatt Ziva Cancun so there may be kids floating around on the beach (a big deal for some but not everyone),
      I would expect the food to be good.
      The service at Beloved is top notch. Better than anywhere else I have stayed in Mexico. Beloved is small and there is not much night life. A few musicians and shows but no real 'events'.
      Beloved is couples only. Zilara is simply adults only (18+).
      Hyatt Zilara Cancun is usually but not always a bit less expensive than Beloved.
      Hope that helps a bit 😊
