I’ve always loved the riff that you speak of here. It always shocks me the few times that people react to it and they don’t say anything about it. They always pay more attention to peobo at that point. But come on, the riffs on that song, the two that she does, are so unique and special and breathtaking!
Thank you so much for delving more into Celine, and just how INCREDIBLE she is! She so often gets overlooked for the musical/vocal prodigy she truly is! With Celine it's always been more than just technique, she has the innate ability to make you feel every word no matter the language. In this example she wasn't even using words, yet you feel it! If you haven't seen her "come back" performance from this years Olympics Opening Ceremony you should really check it out! To say that it was AMAZING is an understatement! It's astounding to see how far she has come from where she was in the documentary.

You have the ear and the sensibilities to catch these things in the first place, and you explain what she’s doing in a way that I don’t believe any other vocal coach on RUclips ever will. It takes one to understand one. I understand everything you’re talking about, and I think I’ve always felt the same way, but I don’t have the ability to explain it the way you do because I don’t have the training background, lol.
Thanks for this breakdown, John. Celine’s songwriting team is divine, and her voice? Absolutely! Anything you can think of, she can put it into her voice. A truly divine singer. I sincerely hope though that you will also take a look at one of Swedish fusion trio Dirty Loops songs. Their vocalist Jonah Nilsson is a wonderfully gifted singer as well.
