A lot of sweatshops are like that in real life, where bosses trick slaves into thinking their either going to a new country or finding family, not realizing they are being conned and put into slavery.
There are few things more evil I've seen than to keep a child from returning to their family. It made me really want to see Warren T. get his comeuppance.
Ironically, this part scared me more than any other part in a Don Bluth movie, because that sh*t actually happened in real life with a lot of immigrants.

Now all we need is Fievel setting booby traps around an abandoned building, and Warren attempting to catch him. "You guys give up, or ya thirsty for more?"
Apparently I'm the 667th viewer.... Also, did they just not show the main character doing the work in the actual movie? It's been forever since I've seen it, If they did, then they really should have shown us more about what the main character is going through..... ah well.
@DisneyTriviaBuff I've read about that too. There's some scenes that's supposed to be in this movie, but because of budget restraints, they have to cut it. There's even supposed to be a scene where Tiger first meet Fievel's family, Tony and Bridget before they all together went out to search for Fievel. Apparantly I read somewhere there's some really dark scenes that are cut because Steven Spielberg find them too dark for children, of course Don wishes they're not cut and are kept in the film. That problem also happened with the Land Before Time. I'm really curious how all the cut scenes in An American Tail turns out, or might turn out. And how it affects the film differently? If only there's a special edition of An American Tail for DVD and Blu-ray,thst show these missing scenes, or elaboration explanation of them by interviews of Don Bluth and Gary Goldman.
Notice how all the sweatshop workers are made to sleep in a room with an OPEN WINDOW? How's Moe able to keep them as slaves if they can so easily escape, can't tell me someone other then a child figured out how to.
They probably wouldn't last long down below in the streets, because of language barriers and money problems. Factoring all that in, Fievel took a big gamble leaving on his own.
@@theguybehindyou4762 the language issue was kinda made null and void since despite being Russian all of them spoke perfect English. More of a cartoon thing despite the serious tone of the movie.
@@MrOrcshaman If I wrote it, Fievel would speak Russian, Tony would teach him enough english to learn of his plight, then help him escape and they'd stick together until getting separated for a time.

Do those still exist?
"O Pardon me thou bleeding piece of earth, that I am meek and merciful with these butchers." - Marc Antony
The way Warren says "Trust me, hey, trust me." that reminds me of Kaa the snake from the Jungle Book.
It does sounds very suspicious if you think about it.
While Moe is a minor villain and appears very briefly it can be seen how greedy, ruthless and sadistic he is

I find it really weird how Warren is a cat in disguise who is smaller than moe who is a rat

he might be a small cat whitch is why he could pass himself as a rat.

Warren seems tiny for a cat
Could be a runt
I like to think he's a rare pygmy breed of cat.
His size seems to be I consistent in the movie. There are times he’s small about the size of mice but other times he’s big like the cats.

Not bad there, Moe. A new worker.
