3 years ago I used styrofoam pink in that window space and glued wood panel over it. 74" bed length. Plenty of space at 5'10". I think you're gonna regret the aluminum in winter.

We just finished a road trip and spent 22 consecutive days in the unit. so far we love what we have created. Little tweaks needed; where to put hooks etc., but no do-overs so far.

I love the look of the carpet with the exposed ribs. Quick question, what did you do about the exposed rib holes? I would think that they would get dusty...

Hi, thanks for your question. The look of the interior is starting to grow on me. I like that our van is different. It still looks like a vehicle inside, sort of like the interior of a Vanagon. Definitely a camper, but still a vehicle. Our design stemmed from function. We wanted a “real” mattress in this vehicle and for that reason we really had to ensure that the thickness of walls did not impede on our needed width. That’s pretty much how this design came to fruition; the need to keep the vehicle wide near the bed.
Regarding the rib holes, most of our holes will be used to hold trim in place. And behind the holes, within the frame we have filled the area with Thinsulate insulation. I don’t have all the answers at this point as I am still working on the trim, but that is the plan.
      Cheers

I started installing the wall panel when I was 65 years old. Now I am 75. Doesn’t it look nice.
    Buttum……..
    Very nice, but time consuming.

Sounds like me. Days turn into weeks that turn into months. Then I forget what I’m doing. 😊
