- We’re about to start moving south of Hanoi in Vietnam and this time we’re not taking the usual mode of transportation. We’ve spent the last 10 months in south east Asia moving from place to place via every mode of transport possible. Sleeper buses in Laos, sleeper ferries in the Philippines, jam packed mini vans in Cambodia and flights in Thailand. You name it, we’ve done it! We’re now taking the transport into our own hands by purchasing a couple of motorbikes. It’s a scary route to take in Vietnam and not for the faint of heart.
In this Hanoi travel vlog we stock up on the essentials needed for biking through Vietnam and staying safe on the roads during rainy season.
The first item we purchase is a Vietnamese flag, this is more for aesthetic reasons/hoping local Vietnamese drivers see us with it and “take it easy on us”.
The second item we purchased (after a bit of haggling in Hanoi) was 2 thick rain ponchos, the ponchos even go over the motorbikes themselves… and keep us dry too of course!
We then headed to get some new motorbike helmets, we decided to go for brand new helmets as we wanted to make sure they had never been in a previous accident before, in turn damaging their structure. We bought the motorcycle helmets from…
Cong Ty Tnhn Nhua Huyen Anh
In the old quarter of Hanoi at the fixed price of 1.7 Million VND ($68).
With a successful day so far of shopping in Hanoi, we headed to the famous indoor market “Dong Xuan Market” to see if we could find a reasonably priced motorbike phone holder.
Last on the list was a metal bracket extension (thing) for Jason’s motorbike, his bike doesn’t have the same structure as Erin’s so had to have one handmade on a metal and welding street he found in Hanoi’s old quarter.

Love the helmets 😊😊😊❤
What’s your favourite colour helmet?
@@TheBlagPackers I’d get purple 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
get some elastic bands for that phone holder
What does that do? :)
@@TheBlagPackers that cheap phone holder will rattle like crazy and the elastic bands will limit the vibrations
buy a Givi brand rack for the future it will cost 100-150k installed
Thanks for the tip :) this one is holding on…for now 😂
