The energy Atarashii Gakko have both in vid and on stage is just amazing. Add a catchy song to it and it makes me jumping around in something that may remind of a dance. Great reaction Neon! 👏👏👏

This is the theme song for the live action Japanese drama series "Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Games", streaming on Lemino in Japan for 8 episodes starting 5/19/23. This series is an adaptation of a manga series that started in 2020.
Yes, the distortion effect is a distraction. There's a video on YT of the broadcast of their entire 4/30/23 concert in Osaka (channel name is AGL!). This is the opening number, and when Suzuka started singing I thought there was an audio problem. Then it went away and I figured they fixed it. It wasn't until watching the MV that I realized it was intentional. Other than that, it's great.

The segments with the voice effect is, as others have said, a straight up dedication to the Beastie Boys, down to the beat, the gestures and the camera work. They’ve mentioned it themselves in interviews. They’ve even covered them before, announcing themselves as the Beastie Girls, (look for concert vids where they wear construction helmets and safety vests).

I didn't mind the voice modulation since it was used briefly in the song. Just added more vocal variety for me.

Such a catchy song and choreography as usual. Always full of energy!
Sounds so BiSH-like to me though and I can't unhear it lol.
Forgot to tell you it had subs!
Surprised you didn't pull a muscle in your neck from all the dancing 😂

There are people like you who say, "The producers didn't have to put effects on their voices," which is an expression of distrust and an insult to the people who made this song.
If you think the people who created all these songs are playing tricks on you with useless gimmicks, you're completely underestimating them.
As a Japanese speaker, I feel inevitable and rather excited that such processing has been done.

They've done that vocal effect before. It's very Beastie Boys, who they've also paid homage to before. I agree, I'm not a fan of it. I didn't like it when Beastie Boys did it and I'm no keener on it now. But the song kicks arse! My only real grip is that there wasn't enough Kanon in it, but to be fair, it could be entirely Kanon and there still wouldn't be enough for me.
And I can't believe you used the A-word. So disappointed.
