It's really a sign of a great musician when they do this. If you listen to different versions of Mozart's Turkish March, the ones that really play it best are those who understand this. I can't remember who plays it, but whoever plays it on the Mozart's Greatest hits album knocks it out of the park. They really flit back and forth between the soft and hard notes in a masterful way. Also, didn't realize it was Grubby. Pretty cool to see you commenting on a random video game cover.
100% agreed. Up there with tracks from Starcraft, Fallout 1/2, Ultima Online, Baldur's Gate, Chrono Trigger, hell, it even hangs with Terminator 2, Akira, Star Wars, and Ennio Morriconne. Absolutely one of my favorite tracks from any format of all time. They don't seem to make them like this anymore :(
@@yugen Phenomenal music is still being made, it's just the frequency is not what you'd expect. Looking back you only remember the good shit but forget anything that never stuck. If you haven't already, check out the Witcher 3, DOOM 2016, and Furi soundtracks. All wildly different genres with stunning music and are only an example of the colossal library of great music waiting to be found.

Underrated? I've yet to meet someone that tells me Diablo's soundtrack sucked. Then again, not too many people I know, know of Diablo. I would say it's not underrated, it's just unknown.
Objectively speaking, this might not be fair. Blasphemous had also a fantastic soundtrack, also inspired by Spanish/Andalusian music, and it's hard to say which was "better".

After staying a while and listening, I'm amazed. There was something in this soundtrack that just resonated with arcane european gothic mistery and viceral dread. I don't think Blizzard can ever bring back that feeling with D4.

Tristram. The feeling of being in a new land as a stranger, sense of foreboding and mystery surrounding the air. As you learn the fate of the village a sense of somber fills you, and you almost pity them for their dire circumstance. You may even have doubts about your own abilities on whether or not you can save the town of Tristram. Though you pick up a sense of urgency in that no one else can help the town except you, so you muster up your courage and feel reinvigorated. Though what awaits you beyond the town? You don't know but you'll find out and do whatever it takes to stop it.. That's what I get from the song and the way it progresses.

It was such a well-known rumor amongst the Blizzard developers that they created a cheat in Starcraft for instantly winning a level using the phrase "there is no cow level". This cheat is what I was referencing.

As much I love classical guitar, I feel that the nylon strings lack the "metallicity" of the original. (The 12 string on the other hand is perfect.) I'd love to see this with only steel strings. Great playing BTW.

3:13 has given me goosebumps since 2000. Very well-made! Also, by the passion put into this soundtrack by Blizzard North's composer you can HEAR that it's one of the best games ever made even before playing it. Great games have great, original soundtracks and this song in particular is close to a masterpiece.

Playing the d1 and d2 OSTs while playing D3 makes it better, but nothing makes up for abandoning the art style of the fist two installations.

@@immortalcoils93 i think parts with the nylon strings are not easy at all. i dont have a 12 string guitar... but its maybe manageable to play that on a normal western guitar. playing good on nylon is hard.

As much I love classical guitar, I feel that the nylon strings lack the "metallicity" of the original. (The 12 string on the other hand is perfect.) I'd love to see this with only steel strings. Great playing BTW.

As a streamer who is currently doing a full playthrough of the original Diablo 2, I had to stay a while and listen.
Then I had you identify my items and piss off.
this music brings a weird feeling in my stomach.
cuz it was not supposed for a kid like me to play a game like diablo, and I was blown away by the violence, the hellish themes and overall spirit of the game, its like the music brings al those feeling of 20 something years ago back

3:13 has given me goosebumps since 2000. Very well-made! Also, by the passion put into this soundtrack by Blizzard North's composer you can HEAR that it's one of the best games ever made even before playing it. Great games have great, original soundtracks and this song in particular is close to a masterpiece.
